Lewan makes plea deal on D&D from after OSU game

Submitted by GoWings2008 on

ESPN reporting...so, yeah...

"rookie Taylor Lewan pleaded guilty Thursday to being drunk and disorderly in a plea deal that will put him on probation for a confrontation last year involving an Ohio State fan."

EDIT:  Update on title

Second edit:  Some "joker" I think was alluding to the fact that this was reported on once before, one week ago it appears.  The older release was that Lewan was going to settle.  This latest update is that the court appearance has occurred and the plea deal was accepted.

The announcement that Lewan would take a deal and the reporting of his actual day in court are probably distinct enough events that they can exist separately as threads. This is especially true when the announcement was about a week ago and those who may have missed it are getting the luxury of speeding straight to the conclusion. Actually, as a rule, even if a thread is completely redundant I will let it slide if it has been a week or more depending on other factors - usually these are announcements or various news items.

This post contains new and very significant information. Previously it was annonced that he would plead guilty but not what the plea deal would be. We now know:

"Lewan, who currently plays for the Tennessee Titans, pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly and disturbing the peace charges. One count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault and battery will be dismissed in the plea deal."

This has important consequences, not least for his Second Amendment rights.

I still remain committed to the fact that although Lewan should've been the better man and walked away, any OSU fan he laid his hands on got exactly what they deserved.

Don't care if you've had our number for a few years. You start running your mouth in an Ann Arbor bar right after the game, and you deserve whatever you get.
