Not really sure I completely buy the academics thing, maryland has the best criminal justice department in the country and never factored in his recruiting. I understand MD never had a shot because it is not a big time football school but that's the thing, he wanted a college fotoball atmosphere more than the best department still at D1 school so it clearly wasn't really about the academics.

that was the reason he chose FSU? A junior in high school selects a second rate school because it offers a particular major? Sorry, I don't buy it. If one of my kids came to me and said I want to go to FSU for the academics i would set him straight E.J. can go where he wants and I wish him well. But FSU for the academics? That's laughable.

No, I don't believe that was the reason he chose FSU. He said academics were important, not everything. Perhaps the lack of the major he wanted did factor into his overall decision. If this is the case, then academics were important to him to some degree. Your words are a nice testament to Michigan arrogance though, and laughable in many ways in their own right.

Disappointing but can't really blame him. Education obviously was more important for him and his family and we didn't have the major he wanted. I wish him the best.

FSU was the leader all the way here and they have what he wants to Major in (Criminal Justice) which we do not have.  Best of luck to you young man!

Sour grapes aside, we have seven open scholarships and we have taken six excellent LBs in the last two classes. I'm not sure that I'd prefer to use one of those seven spots on a position that has been well addressed. I'd rather go with DTs and WRs if I had my choice. However, whatever the staff thinks is more likely to be correct, of course.

At any rate, he seems to be a fine young man, and I wish him the best at FSU. If football doesn't work out, he can always use that Criminal Justice degree and follow in his dad's footsteps, making the community a safer place.

Just because they are all LB's doesn't mean they were the same position as Levenberry.  EJ would be a SAM at UM, those two are WILL's.  Jake Ryan and Des Morgan should not be considered the same position and neither should Anazalone/O'Daniel and Levenberry.  The coaches were willing to take an extra SAM, but not WILL.

kid is a future pro, I think.  I think the writing was on the wall - no positive buzz on our side all week.  Usually that does not bode well.

I think people got carried away on this one.  Even some of the FSU sites were saying Levenberry was a bit overrated.  We've got plenty of time to find Bolden's successor.

I've heard that from some people on this board and others as well, but I don't know where that came from.  If you look at the scouting reports for Levenberry and McCray they talk about how Levenberry is better closer to the line hitting a gap and not reacting as much while McCray seems to have a higher F-ball IQ and be better in coverage.  While Levenberry is strong, McCray and Gedeon are more all-around natural athletes.

Can't blame him at all. He'll have a much better shot at early PT there than here. Naturally we all wanted him, but I think it's a stretch to say we needed him. Good luck to him

kid can't go wrong at fsu...they are are top 5 D and will play with some very talented defenders...wouldn't want to play behind that d-line?

mich recruited 6+ linebackers over 2years so it all came down to pt and what he will be playing with. That major thing helped too somewhat
