Anyone know if University is going to do lettering on the new stadium press box and suites?? Maybe NC years? Players last names like at comerica
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
The S in the Michigan Stadium sign, if you're referring to the old art deco lettering, is correctly oriented.
The little part of the S in on the bottom.
but your opinion is wrong
The S is NOT upside down. It is oriented exactly as it was on the press box, these being the letters that faced the street not the field.
Yes, it would have been nice to have found a more prominent spot for them, but it is not incorrectly oriented. It's the nature of this particular art deco font, as discussed in the (currently) first 18 comments of the link you posted.
It matches the font of all of the rest of the letters. Just look at the G and the H. Small side is on the bottom. Just like the S.
I think you might want to familiarize yourself with art deco before you claim the ability to judge art deco. The 'S' looks precisely as it should. It is, and never has been, improperly inverted.
Obviously someone is not an Art Decco fan.
Look at the other letters that have horizontal elements in the middle: the H and the G in Michigan and the A in both Michigan and Stadium. The "midpoint" of the letter is very close to the bottom in those letters, just as it is in the S.
The letters are correctly oriented.
EDIT: sorry--I see this was already discussed to death on another thread.
Do you really think that Michigan would let them put the "S" upside down??
Don't believe everything you read on the internet
You should have just admitted what happened. You really thought it was upside down. Then you realized it wasn't. It's okay to be wrong, sometimes.
plans to put "HAIL TO THE VICTORS" around the stadium on three-colored aluminum siding....oops, wait a second-I'm stuck in the 90s.
that would be sweet if they did that
I heard that the lettering will be made up of advertisements, and that each letter will blast a different RAWK anthem at various points during the game.
How about a circle of honor?
Think of all the times somebody around here says "Why doesn't anyone ever wear #11? WTF?" or "what number did Gerald Ford wear, anyway??"
On the other hand, think of all the great players who have NOT had their numbers retired for obvious enough reasons. This is a way to still honor them as Wolverines. Several pro teams, such as the Leafs and Cowboys, do not retire numbers frequently but instead honor their greats in the stadium. We could do the same.
they're going to put the entire lyrics to Don't Stop Believing wrapping around the entire stadium.
They were going to do Lose Yourself but Eminem wants that to go in the new Crisler remodel.
In Yost they're just going to wrap curse words around the entire concourse.
Where/when are the speakers going to be installed? Upgrade from those 1980's-era BOSE speakers on the old press box?
And the eagle that was on one corner? Where will it go? Will a dupe be made, one for each building? Or triplets? One for each tower?
And how about two more sets of "MICHIGAN STADIUM?" One each for the east and west buildings? Maybe a bit larger, so they don't get dwarfed by the edifices themselves.
North endzone video wall. Where it says 'Michigan Stadium' at the top is now screen mesh and there are speakers hidden. I really hope this is temporary, as it looks bad.
I didn't think the screen mesh where the new speakers are looked that bad but I was sitting in the southwest corner of the stadium for the spring game.
Maybe it looks worse where ever you were sitting.
Not sure about where the old "Michigan Stadium" sign is located. Is this permanent? Seems like a good museum piece.
Did anyone read that interview with Barwis that's linked? He said BG weighed 315 lbs when they got there?? That's hard to believe....
I was talking to my buddy about it, we just started laughing 315!?! come on maybe 215
I mean there's no way that he was that heavy. At 6'1" he would have looked fat if he weighed that much.
that some of the letters, perhaps the ones that faced the field if the ones that are already up are the ones that faced the street, would be put in an arc over one of the main gates to the stadium.
