"Rodrick Williams Jr.'s 10-month old, 2-foot-long savannah monitor named "Kill" gets the RB some strange looks when they go for walks together."
Let's kill some time: who are the five starters on your all-time Michigan team?
Burke, Rice, Webber, and Cazzie are required. Not sure if you go small with C-Webb at the 5 or find someone else. Howard if you put him at the 5.
And Rudy T. People forget how good he was. Scored 25 a game and all time Michigan rebounder. And had a really good NBA career. Jalen, Juwan, and Grant are close. (Campy Russell too if you want to go old school).
- Cazzie Russell
- Rudy Tomjanovich
- Glenn Rice
- Jalen Rose
- Trey Burke
This team lacks a true center. And they would win every game they came out, by scoring 90 points a night. Two national players of the year (Cazzie and Trey); one who could easily have been (Rice); one who might have been a player of the year if he had been playing for John Wooden at UCLA (Tomjanovich); and one who could well have been a player of the year as a senior (Jalen).
Phil Hubbard at the 4
I would rather have Rose then Burke at pg.
Jalen, or Trey???
All kidding aside. If my memory serves me correct. Jalen was really good defensively. He also is 6"8". He would be difficult to play against as a PG.
Burke, Hardaway, Stauskas, Robinson, McGary
Thought the exact same thing.
On this night, that is the correct answer.
3- Rose (Yup)
Not sure if this would turn into the pace of an NBA All-Star game, but I'm going...
C Rudy T
SF Glen Rice
I just can't put Webber in there for my own Fab Five reasons...but I will put in Steve Stoyko coming off the bench!
I would play two point guards and go with Rose, Burke, Webber, Howard, and Glenn Rice
Probably the best defender Michigan's ever had and no slouch offensively either. His ball pressure would make up for some deficiencies (relatively, I mean--we're talking about an all-time team) behind him on defense.
Ask me in a couple of years and this will be: Grant, Cazzie, Rice, Webber and McGary. Pretty sure Beilein could coach that group to a championship.
I am pretty sure Brian Ellerbe could coach this team to a championship.
But I was thinking there should be an all-time coach to go with the team.
Besides, Kentucky and Carolina and UCLA and Kansas would be pretty tough one seeds in the all-time tournament. I'm not sure we have an answer to Wilt. I'm not sure anyone does.
I can't think at a time like this!!!
4. Cazzie Russel
5. Chris Webber
By position -- best at each!
What a team!
... classic memories of a great team!
I'd probably go Burke, Rice, Lou Bullock, Webber, Rudy T.
Sanction-free, I'd go Burke, Rice, Cazzie, Phil Hubbard, Rudy T.
I will take that lineup against anyone.
The other day I was imagining what it would be like if Manny Harris and Deshawn Sims were still here...
1st team -c webber,glenn rice,campy russell,trey burke,cazzie russell
2nd team-p hubbard,j howard,r tomjanovich,r green,jalen rose
PG - Burke, SG - Cazzie, SF - Rice, PF - Rudy T, C - Webber.
Rudy T averaged 25.1 points and 14.5 rebounds a game for his career. All-American and all time leading rebounder in Michigan history. Averaged over 30 points and 15.5 rebounds a game his senior year.
The judge: Antoine Joubert!
I like Antoine and Mike McGee.
Cazzie, Rudy, Glen Rice, Phil Hubbard, and Trey Burke.
(So many others I could have chosen, this is not easy!
I'll do my starters and back-ups
PG Burke Rickey Green
SG Cazzie Russell Jalen Rose
C Roy Tarpley Jawan Howard
PF C, Webber Phil Hubbard
SF Glen Rice Rudt Tomjonavich
Good one. Forgot about Roy. I would definitely have him as the starting center. Just think of him and Weber next to each other. beastly.
How would our best teams do vs. the best teams of other universities? UCLA? Duke? Carolina?
- Walt Hazzard
- Gail Goodrich
- Reggie Miller
- Keith Wilkes
- Lew Alcindor
- Bill Walton
- Marques Johnson
- Kevin Love
- Sidney Wicks
That's a ridiculous team, and I'm sure I'm forgetting people.
Brent Petway OR Manny Harris
I'm too nervous to give a legit answer...
How'd you like to start that team? Holy shit.
The "fresh five" and The Team just finished practice. Hitting a lot of 3's. Nik was out first drilling 3's before Spike came out to join him.
Webber, Russell, Burke, Rice, and Grant.
1 - Trey Burke
2 - Glen Rice
3 - Cazzie Russell
4 - Rudy Tomjaovich
5 - Chris Webber OR Mitch McGary
I like the mix of defense, rebounding, basketball smarts, size, and scoring. Makes me want to fire up a NCAA version of Earl Weaver Baseball and see how this team would do against the all-time best groups from other schools.
Trey Burke, Nik Stauskas, Tim Hardaway Jr, Glenn Robinson III, Mitch McGary
All winning lineups!
- Blanchard (victim of timing)
- Novak (brought back toughness, the tourny, and a BTT)
For that last spot there are countless good candidates. Impossible to pick:
- Tarpley - great player, off-court issues
- Old Guys - people long before my time I can't quantify
- Taylor/Traylor - great NBA talents that helped ruin the program
- Crawford - one of best talents ever, only 13 games
- Ricky Green - don't remember him well enough
- Rumeal - famous for title game, solid player
- Current team - someone who plays big tonight maybe?
Not a lot of love for Bill Buntin even though his jersey is hanging from the rafters, although the competition at forward is fierce.
SG: Glen Rice (just stand in the corner and shoot, Glen!)
F: Cazzie Russell
F: Rudy T
C: Bill Buntin
(the last 2 are obvious)
Josh Bartelstein? Even the bench needs a reserve...
that is all....game is about to start
He was good.
PG Trey Burke
SG Jalen Rose
C Juwan Howard
PF Chris Webber
SF Glen Rice
