Let Recruiting Play Out.
With the latest news about D. Hart and the investigation worrying players people are starting to freak out. This is a scary time, but to those people I say good thing there is no early signing period yet. Signing day is in February and we control our own destiny. I'm not worried about D. Hart declaring for Auburn or whoever, because I know we will continue to recruit the kids we want and come next winter we will know a few things.
1. Our Record
2. Investigation Results
If the 1st 2 are on the positive sign, RR has proven he can close late ontop guys with no positive buzz. I'm confident that if we have a decent record and the investigation is behind us with minimal penalties we can flip guys.
If we win games.
That is the end all be all of recruiting and every other question around the program.
Hart said that he's worried about whether or not Rich Rod will be coach next year. He said he wants to go to a school where he knows who the coach will be.
He clearly alludes to Michigan "going through some problems lately" as well. Re-read that paragraph.
Yes, and i agree with him. Although this is Rich Rod's last Contract season, you have to remember two things.
1. David Brandon (Our new AD) is a huge supporter of RR
2. If RR can churn out a bowl game (Not hard considering our schedule) then his job is safe.
Haha unless either Les Miles, or Jim Harbaugh lose their jobs, i dont think Michigan is going to have a new coach for a long time.
...at least eight wins. In fact, every M fan needs at least eight wins to regain confidence and our footing as a perennial powerhouse.
...have Hart's weight listed 25 lbs. differently. Any clue as to whether he's 165 or 190? Somewhere in between?
He's a 5'7"(approx.) high school player. I highly doubt he is actually 190 pounds, so I am leaning more towards 165.
Everyone needs to stop acting like the comments of some 16 or 17 year old recruit are life and death, especially 11 months before Signing Day.
Pay attention to your kids. Go out for a jog. Get a hobby. Focus on your studies. Take your girlfriend/wife out on a date.
Whether Demetrius Hart is concerned about Rich Rod's job security, or whether Michigan is going to win 8 games in order to satisfy a message board poster's "needs", will not be affected by anything any of us do.
If Rich Rod wins this year, great, let's enjoy it because it will be sweet. If he doesn't and he gets fired, well, Jim Harbaugh will win the conference next year with Rod's players because they ARE that good. Either way, what's the point of worrying about it? Worry about something you can control.
There is a reason that fan is short for "fanatic" and not everyone can just turn that off. Some people are going to fret about everything, that's just the way it is.
I agree with all of your statement about winning, Harbaugh, our talent level.
BUT, this sanctimonious "Pay attention to your kids. Go out for a jog. Get a hobby...." stuff is a little tough to take. You assume that those of us who are worried are not doing these things? I don't come here for life advice. I am guessing none of us do. Save it for people you actually know and who actually know you.
You clearly care enough to follow this thread. Perhaps you should follow your own advice? Don't get on someone for discussing something relevant to UM football here. That's what this place is for. If everyone just went out for a jog simultaneously, this blog would suck.
The jog would suck, too.
Joging sucks.
Anyone who starts a thread without 1) a question or 2) news to share is essentially just looking for an echo chamber of validation.
I don't really follow recruiting (see this), but I imagine it's like a soap opera for bored people, except with 16/17 year old dudes, which is weird.
I'm not one who should be preaching, but it's hard to take advice like "Go out for a jog" or "Get a hobby" from someone with 7831 points.
I do need to spend less time on here (although I do work out and get lots of chicks), but I'm not ballsy enough to suggest that the rest of you need to find something better to do.
Magnus: "(although I do work out and get lots of chicks)"
Weilding a sword as a Master Warrior on Worlds Of Warcraft and hitting up the maidens on the IM does not constitute working out and getting chicks.
I don't even know what a "Master Warrior" is.
But seriously, though...what if the maidens are super hot like a metal fire?
It would be a mistake to let him go after the 2010 season. We'd be starting from scratch again for certain if we decided to go back to power football. We shall see. To me, winning the first 2 games this season is key to get things rolling.
The atmosphere on September 4 will be electric.
I couldn't believe how energized the WMU game was last year. First game after a long lay-off. 110,000 fans hungry for a win. There was more postive energy in that stadium than for any non-rivalry game I've ever seen.
The crowd for the UConn game should be even more intense.
I can't wait.
Wise words... although then what would a lot of fans do in the off season?
Well said. This class is going to be small(er), and I'd expect a lot of action on/near NSD. Wouldn't be surprised to see a class which is "back-heavy" or "back-loaded" if/when UM plays well this year.
This class will be smaller. If there was any one year that RR could afford to lose a couple of recruits to negative recruiting, it is this one. By the time NSD comes around, it should be business as usual. If one or two recruits do get bamboozled by negative recruiters, RR will be able to find one or two to replace them.
I always thought reading this board was a hobby. No good?
It's the offseason and most of us on this board have an unhealthy obsession with Michigan football. If there's any new that relates to Michigan football, even if it's about a recruit who can't sign for 11 months, I want to read about it. I'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons that we have a discussion board on this blog.
