Love the guy even though he's a bit weird. He may have made a mistake not coming to Michigan. Not that it matters now but If he goes through another 8 win season at LSU anyone else think they might can him?

that on paper, Rich Rodriguez should have been a home run hire.  He was one of the biggest names in college football when Martin landed him.  He flamed out here because he was a bad fit for Michigan, not because he was a terrible hire in general.  Matin made a mistake in that he may have hired the best guy on the market for any generic college football coaching position, but he didn't think enough about culture fit.   IMO that isn't enough to tar and feather him.  He made a big hire, one that could have been explosive (in a GOOD way) for the program, and it just didn't work out.

Rodriguez is obviously doing just fine at Arizona, a place where there was nothing to fit into and they are letting him do whatever the f*** he wants.  That isn't how things were going to work at Michigan, nor am I saying they should have been.   I just have a hard time pointing a finger at Martin and saying he totally screwed up the Rodriguez hire, because in 2007, Rodriguez looked like a fantastic hire from most angles.

What was the whole "Herbstreit and Les Miles to Michigan"? I have never heard where Herbie said he got that info. I had always assumed Michigan had offered him the job the day before the National Championship and he was put between a rock and a hard place and stayed at LSU. Anyone heard what really happened? I know it is ancient news but curious nonetheless.

You mean Michigan made a mistake not offering him and letting idiots like Rich Rod and Hoke come here and destroy our program. You can think Carr,Martin,Coleman and Brandon for the last seven years of crap football we've been forced to watch.

Seems to be okay.

"LSU Coach Les Miles went to a hospital Monday as a precaution after feeling sick, but is "fine" and will be at the Tigers' 3 p.m. practice today, according to Vice Chancellor Joe Alleva."

I have had alligator gumbo, as well as Hunan Alligator. Both were actually pretty good...but what the hell, I also like raw oysters and crawdad boils (but I ain't sucking no head, no way!).

Bacon's reddit AMA was interesting on this topic yesterday.  It was RichRod who asked Brandon if Les Miles would be Michigan's next coach after he'd been fired, and Brandon told him "Over my dead body."

I'd heard the story many times before, but didn't know RR was the source.

Lloyd probably would've forged transfer papers to get Mallet out.  And the former players that fueled most of the anti-RR talk were Lloyd's players.  I doubt he would have been more active in keeping the fort united with Miles around.

To be fair to Les, if Bill Martin went outside the box to land Harbaugh in 2007, Lloyd probably would've balked at that too.

games than RR.  That 3-9 season wouldn't have ever happened.  It would have been an 8-4 / 7-5 rebuilding year before he really got the ball rolling.  2011 would have been his (1st) NC year, followed by at least one more by today.

I love Harbaugh and he's the best coach for Michigan right now, but a big part of me wishes Les would have gotten his shot in the big chair.  He would have done great here.

opposed to hiring Miles. Aside from that, Carr had earned the right to have his opinion respected. It's not as if he was being allowed to name his successor, but he should have been the first person talked to about potential candidates.

Yeah that is correct maybe Coach Carr shouldn't of left his wife and kids while he broke up McCartney's brothers marriage. That is the reason Carr and Miles don't get along. Miles wife let Carr's wife and kids move in while Carr was running around behind there back. Even worse was when the dumb asses in our fan fase started the rumor that Miles hooked up with another coaches wife to try to draw attention away from what really happened. I like coach Carr but he was not a nice man early on in his coaching career.

Les was perfect for Michigan in 2007.  By 2011 he was already overshadowed by Harbaugh.  Unfortunately it didn't work out for the "Mad Hatter".  I hope after he gets out of coaching he can make a few visits and be more visible around the program.

It could very well have been one of those awkward moments in life when you discover why certain species eat certain things as an emetic.

In all seriousness, the buzz on Twitter is that he is fine and will be at practice later on today, so it doesn't sound serious, so definitely some good news there.

That would mean "pass into the blue."

The best translation for "Go Blue" is Allez les Bleus.  (Which is a common cheer, incidentally, as France's national teams almost always wear blue at home.)

Always loved Les Miles.

Good luck down in the Bayou. LSU has always been my SEC team to root for. Hope they can exceed expectations this year and take the SEC away from those Alabama schools.

Geaux Tigers and Geaux Blue!
