Wow. Just wow.
Les Miles stepping down?
me in the least. This is (probably) not the first time this happened to Les. There were rumors when Les was a student here. Then there is the whole Les enjoying the company of a Head Coach's wife and was banned from said campus for life.
I would guess his sex drive is over the top to the point that he cannot control himself. Boy would I love to see him in the Coaches Box as our OC. Come home Les.
And you'd want him to come back and be our offensive coordinator?
how to read English? I never said I "believed" any of the "rumors". Rumors are just that: rumors. They, by definition, are "stories about doubtful truth".
Les has never admitted to any rumors that I know of and he has not been convicted in a court of law.
You said it wouldn't surprise you, that "This is (probably) not the first time this happened to Les." thinking it is (most likely) true, and then give your opinion that "I would guess his sex drive is over the top to the point that he cannot control himself." That's your opinion, that agrees with the rumors. So you have a funny way of showing you don't believe it.
Not only that, but LSU hasn't really hasn't had an impressive offense over the last couple years. They have really excelled on the defensive side of the game. Why would we want him as OC? Also, why would he want a demotion? Plenty of other schools that would want him as a head coach. Just a ridiculous comment all the way around.
Back in 2011 I would have let Miles sleep with my wife if he came to michigan... not so much anymore...
That said, I think a head coach's character effects their teams and at the college level I would want a coach who has some sort of ethics (contrary to my view two years ago)... I would still take him as a coordinator though.
Yes, this. Les is known for chewing on more than just field turf.
The coach's box.
Now that was funny.
Wait you mean that when Les was a student here, there were rumors that he was having sex with college students? What a sick, sick man.
Only coach's wives. Apparently, he was quite the ambitious young man.
His offenses at LSU have been garbage. Then factor in what type of talent he gets, and his offenses have been inexcusably horrid.
Not to mention the guy's an ass hat...
No sources and this is speculation. Yay twitter and wanting followers.
Big news if true, malicious rumor if false.
No impact on UM as key LA recruits will go to other SEC schools rather than UM.
There was a time when we did really well with Louisiana recruits.
Yep. That's Fred Jackson's home state. He used to land about a recruit a year from there. It's been much tougher sledding recently (although we did at least land Dileo).
Sure, we had a few guys from LA, but it's not a focal point for us at this time.
We've offered a few kids from every talent rich state and FL, GA and CA are far higher priorities. Besides, UT and UA will fight for LA.
Not trolling, just not a big opportunity for us. Bigger aspect is Les' connection tonUM than real opportunity for us.
Before LSU basically locked down the state, Louisiana was a very high priority for us. Anthony Thomas, Chris Howard, Leroy Hoard, James Hall, Ron Bellamy and Adam Kraus were some key guys we got from there.
ago does not make it a current recruiting focus. Landing Dileo also doesn't make LA a fertile ground for UM.
Great talent in LA, but the current HS kids and coaches are not tethered to our staff or UM's presence 10+ years ago.
It would be great to land LA kids, but Saban, Sumlin, Freeze and the next LSU coach will make it a difficult place to pull kids to UM.
Fun fact: more players in the nfl from LA than any other state. Just sayin....
The TE committed to LSU is planning a Michigan visit.
Did we just find our D-Line coach?
no, why would hoke and co. want someone who stepped down for allegedly sleeping with a student. thats just kinda stupid
You sign a coach fresh off a scandal regardless of ties.
Let's see...Bobby Petrino, Urban Meyer and now Les Miles. SEC coaches just can't help themselves. There are some beautiful Coeds down there
Urbs said he had a heart condition and wanted to be with his family more... so you're saying that WASN'T true???
Maybe he ended up in the hospital that one night because it had been 4 hours...
I hear things...I got a guy
So Miles will step down due to a health condition and then surface again in a year at another top tier football school?
I would love to hire him but I don't think Brandon would want the negative backlash from it.
Do you really think Les Miles would take a position coaching job? If true he will take a year off and find himself as the hottest free agent coach in college football.
Essentially this same point and some Richard downburst me.
Les will never coach here. FYI, let's all get together and think of SEC coaches who were hired from asst. jobs to UM in the last 15 years....go!
All we need now is the popcorn gif.
I didn't know Lloyd Carr's wife went to LSU.
Man do you have your rumors twisted...or just plain wrong I guess.
You spelled Gary Moeller wrong.
They have a lot of quality assistant coaches on staff so we might be able to get one of them if we can't get Les.
May be can hire their D-Line coach. LSU alway's seem to have a good aggressive DL...much is due to talent but it looks like some good coaching.
Good lookin' out, Bill Martin.
^ game. set. match.
This is the most underrated comment I've seen all year.
Awful if true. I really hope it's not. College football doesn't need any more negative news.
I'm sure college football will be just fine. In fact, maybe this will help us start realizing con artists like Meyer, Carroll, Kelly and Petrino are fakes
You're right. College football will survive. I do wonder, though: which Kelly do you refer to? Chip, I'm guessing?
Brian. If you think the deaths at ND (Declan Sullivan) and St Mary's (Lizzy Seaberg) are bad just start digging into his time at CMU and GVSU.
I suppose I haven't been following college football long enough to know what was talked about when he was at CMU and GVSU.
it was just questionable disciplinary decisions. Star QB getting in trouble multiple but never seeming to face much discipline among other unseemly things.
The CMU murder case could have been a much bigger deal but it was really swept away.
That's a pretty hefty suggestion. Why don't you just explain what the heck you're talking about? And what did he have to do with either of those deaths? He's not the overseer of all the goings on in South Bend.
Death and cover ups seem to coincidentally follow this guy wherever he goes. Just an unlucky guy I suppose.
Chicago Tribune December 2009
Kelly responded with team discipline as well as any new coach could. But he embroiled himself in controversy explaining why several CMU players may have perjured themselves trying to protect a teammate.
"For example, a number of them were African-Americans that had been in that culture of violence, and they're taught to look away," Kelly said in the Sept. 22, 2005, edition of the Detroit Free Press. "You don't want anything to do with it. Get out of there. You don't say anything to anybody.
"That is a culture that they are immersed in. When they come here, their first reaction is to react the way they've been taught to react in their culture and in their environment. That's difficult."
so searching and linking is tough, but I'm pretty sure ESPN anonymously interviewed a few FBS coaches and they all claimed that their job wouldn't survive an incident identical to Declan Sullivan's death.
Investigators wanted to see Sullivan's video footage to figure out what happened. Brian Kelly refused to give the tape up because he said it showed parts of their walkthrough for the upcoming game.
Eventually OSHA was allowed to view edited clips of Sullivan's recording, they were only permitted to view them in a designated location and not allowed to take the tapes with them.
Does OSHA really have so little power they can't demand the tapes? How wasn't this alone a bigger scandal?
If OSHA has jurisdiction over your workplace they can do anything they want. The only reason why they wouldn't do anything is if there was pressure from above. Eventually Notre Dame was fined 77 thousand dollars but that's spare change for them.
In the first part of ther report Brian Kelly said it was a "Beautiful day", OSHA says otherwise. Here is small portion of the report.
What a joke. I never had much dislike of ND before Kelly but there is just too much weird stuff with him.
Things like this make me think the whole Teo saga was cooked up by Kelly and Teo. If ND is willing to cover up negligent homicide and sexual assault what would stop them from making up Lennay Kakua?
I am from MP and know people close to the program and it is safe to say Kelly didn't leave any friends in his wake. Being a jerk, making public statements about black culture and their hatred for the police being a reason his players didn't cooperate in a murder investigation and having members of the team murder a 150 pound gay kid outside of a bar for talking some smack didn't earn him too many friends in MP.
You'll have to forgive me for my ignorance, but are there any links that you can show me that actually talk about this? I'm having a hard time finding anything.
Edit: There's now a link above.
Quick google found this article about the murder. It's a mobile link.
I will take a look for something about the black culture statement but trust me he said it.
Mobile link to an apology for stupid statement about black culture.
Appreciate the links. This has certainly been eye opening.
Thanks for educating me.
I'd recommend reading up on the circumstances surrounding Jerry Seymour at CMU.
Yup. Some of my buddies played for him at GVSU and I heard multiple stories of him being caught hooking up with secretaries, Coeds, etc. He always felt above it all and never thought he'd be found out since he controlled everyone in the athletic dept
The moral of the story is, that turning down Michigan might cost you your marriage. That's two coaches who basically accepted the job, ended up turning it down, then having an affair come out.
Rick pitino. His affair came out not too long after turning Michigan down (ironically because his wife preferred Louisville)
Say "not long after." It was probably 5-7 years later. But it was at Louisville, after taking that job over the UM job.
Miles turn down Michigan? If you are referring to post Carr, we screwed that up, he wanted to be the coach. If referring to post rich rod? Dave Brandon never was going to hire him nor did he offer, I have first hand knowledge of that. Les has burned many bridges in Ann Arbor...
will you do me and I was like wha-bam!"
This must be new, because I'm not sure how this magical .gif could have escaped me otherwise. Pure gold.
It's from last season and it's a classic.
Nice touch with the sideburns.
Best gif EVAHHHH!!!!
This is amazing!
Gary Moeller is pleased.
He salutes you BiSB
I would think that happened in the middle 90's. Les might be 40+, and Mrs Moeller might be close to 55+. Interesting.
Pete Carroll apparently was having an affair with a grad student and Charlie Weis made a public comment about it once.
And in terms of Les Miles a) his wife is definitely not a looker and b) if this student affair is true, then I'm totally buying the whole rumor of how Lloyd wasn't too fond of him because of some inappropriate activities he engaged in with Gary Moellers's wife. Two rumors usually add up to something.
College football losing Les Miles would suck though. This gives me a whole new view to the Les Miles Loves to Eat Grass meme....
Before we all implicate Moeller's wife, we should note that that's just one version of the rumor. Others were that he was sleeping with students.
Keep in mind that when you spread this particular rumor, you're not just making Miles look bad, you're making Mrs. Moeller as well, and that may be totally unfair.
But I have it on good authority that this is the accepted story among those "in the know." In other words, this isn't an internet creation (unlike this latest rumor).
So regardless of what actually happened, whatever DID happen resulted in a significant falling-out between Moeller and Miles.
There are at least some insiders who swear that this story is nonsense.
Again, when you repeat this story you are not just implicating Miles, but also the wife of someone who is still part of the Michigan athletic family. Gary Moeller still attends athletic events frequently. I think we should exercise caution here.
And I'm not going to try to win a "my insiders are more insiderish than your insiders" battle, cause that's not my point. My point is simply that is is a widely held view in many circles (from message board trolls like myself to past and present Athletic Department hoi polloi). And these stories have existed for 17 years. Mentioning in isn't breaking any new ground.
In other words, the rumors (whether fatually true or not) and their general acceptance inform the current relationship between Miles and various Michigan factions.
I don't think we are implicating anyone here. We are just talking about what we heard, read, etc. I know that various idiot journalists surf these blogs/forums and use the information but that's more of a indictment on the state of journalism today. Anyways, it's not like this is some official place where everything is of fact. Everything will be okay.
This site won't tolerate an unsubstantiated rumor for a minute... but, if the rumor has been around long enough, and BISB heard it, then it must be true?
discretion is the better part of valor my friend and I would prefer that we not sit here like high school students and debate who slept with who...
Soooooo...you're telling me his wife has 'More' Miles? Since she's 'not a looker'...
You see what I did there???
You imply that Les Miles wife is "definitely not a looker"...
I wonder if it was with Katherine Webb
This wouldn't be that surprising.
If this is true, it's just the latest evidence that we (inadvertently) dodged a bullet when we missed out on that guy.
we missed a bullet but landed on a grenade. we were in a coma for 3 years
I wanted to post Mo, but beat to the punch
Not very many write-ups on this, but RantSports had one (LINK).
This story and many tweets do stress that, at the moment, there is no evidence to support the claim, but I would think that, in a scenario where it was true (lots of people on Twitter going out of their way to point out the lack of evidence at the moment) the timing couldn't be worse as you would have to make a bumbling transition to one of the coordinators more than likely with no time to hire someone impactful. There would also be considerable difficulty getting top-tier recruits to come to LSU, I would imagine. Les leaving because he doesn't want to coach anymore is something they could likely manage fairly smoothly, but in any other case, I would see LSU as desperately unprepared.
EDIT: PatWhiteSports is now tweeting that they have a source claiming that this rumor is not true.
If true this is an absolute tragedy for the game of college football. A solid 50% at least of my non-Michigan college football entertainment comes from his ridiculous antics, pressers and otherwise. And who will step up to troll Saban?
I just saw that news of the affair is trending on Twitter, so it must be true.
Who are these students who get involved in these situations? I understand the jersey-chaser mindset to a certain extent, but these dudes are old. Gotta be some serious insecurities at work.
No kidding. I have never met an attractive woman with daddy issues.
Are you kidding me? Those are the best kind.
Young hot chicks banging old rich powerful dudes isn't a new thing.
I lived in Memphis for awhile and took a trip to Arkansas one weekend virtually every college age girl there was hanging around some middle aged gentleman.
Um, exactly where in Arkansas?
A 19 year old co-ed is basicallly deciding between fucking a guy on a dorm-room bunk bed while his creepy roommate rubs one out under the sheets, hooking up on a beer-soaked couch in a frat house, or chasing down that old high school flame who still lives with his parents. Or she can go over to a famous multi-millionaire's house and bone down on a snakeskin waterbed (probably how Miles rocks it) and maybe pick up a spare national championship ring.
Hooking up with an middle-aged, not that bad looking or out of shape rich dude seems way more sane than the typical alternative. Though I'm not a sexy lady, so what the fuck do I know.
Yeah, but hooking up in dorms and frat houses is what college kids do - that's what your supposed to do. The alternative seems creepy and weird to me. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a dude who didn't mind hooking up in a beer-soaked frat house basement, though.
Well, there isn't exactly a huge smorgasbord of multi-bazillion dollar rich and powerful football coaches hanging out at every college in America, so the choices for your average coed don't usually include them. The reason "hooking up in dorms and frat houses is what college kids do" is because there are millions of drunk frat boys and not that many coaches on the prowl; if rich-ass sex-starved sugar daddies were more common, so would coeds that hook up with them.
I'll take door #1!
Think of it this way (assuming you're a guy)...would you bang an unattractive, out of shape, middle aged woman just because she has a nice house and/or money?
I've banged unattractive, out of shape, young women just because I had too much to drink. Your scenario actually sounds preferable.
At least they were young. That's a bonus right there (I think)
Probably, yes. If my drinks are plentiful and covered, then why not?
It really is different for women. They don't care as much for how in shape you are. While that is a plus, it has more to do with your social standing
I think you're leaving out the majority of the boning that occurs with sophomore through senior guys who live in apartments/houses with their own bedrooms. I'm pretty sure that's a lot more sane than shacking up with a man who's breath smells like a mixture of Werther's Originals and Kentucky bluegrass.
If you weren't involved in this thread in some way.
Edit: apparently there were at least two people unaware that Purplestuff is the resident expert on Les Miles and his sexual prowess.
So LSU is the setting of this years John L. Smith annual interim coaching extravaganza? Yeah, that popcorn gif.
Step 1: Fake heart attack
Step 2: Wait
Step 3: Profit!!!!
Worked out really well for him too. Definitely the strategy i'd go with. The general public is really gullible.
He didn't fake his.
He also failed to inappropriately bone any subordinates. Sheesh, what was he thinking?
He should be inappropriately banging someone any day now. But the reason he's safe is that even national championships don't give him an erection anymore.
Only stealing souls does.
For him if true,
@footballscoop , who is much more reputable than either of the two people listed in the OP, said that he talked to a source who said that this rumor is incorrect.
If Louisiana coaches are anything like their politicians, the only way Miles would be forced from his job is if he was caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy.
I see what you did there.
is rumor on the Tweeter, nothing substansiated. And Tiger Droppings has "the last and only thread concerning Miles rumors" where the only post (from a mod, Im guessing) says:
"Unless it is reported by a credible news source (as determined by the discretion of the admin staff), threads and posts alluding to same will be deleted, and the persons posting them will be evaluated.
Consider yourself warned."
I was going to post the same link.
No go on the rumor. Complete BS. Strange that a student reporter from a good journalism school would completely ignore news basics. I guess that's how important it is these days to be first...instead of right.
Early word in the circles of people who know (significant alumni, etc. I have some access). Tressel is the name everyone is saying.
Did you hear that from a Spartan equipment manager?
Senior equipment manager. Thus, very reliable and professional.
Baseless rumor. Not a chance this is true
Isn't Dileo from Ohio?
Pretty sure he's from Louisanna
this is the top google result:
The first twitter handle mentioned belongs to a student reporter from Western Kentucky University, who admits he saw the rumor on recruiting message boards. There is zero chance this is true, and it's stunning that anyone would believe something of that magnitude was even a possibility without even looking into the source.
If I were Miles I would be totally slapping a lawsuit on this punk. Imagine Miles phone blowing up with idiots asking him questions about his.
Did Meyer start this to use as a ploy with recruits?
If only I could upvote
....I wouldn't be surprised if it were true, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were false.
There's a strong case made for both outcomes.
At the end of the day, we've got the right guy, and that's all that really matters. And, that whatever Les Miles did or didn't do isn't worse than what Joe Paterno did.
A native of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, Dileo attended Parkview Baptist High School in Baton Rouge, where he became the only player in the school's history to accumulate 1,000 receiving yards and 5,000 all-purpose yards. He set the school's records with 73 catches for 1,193 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also played baseball as a second baseman and led the school's baseball team to consecutive state championships
So your saying Dileo knows that Miles will be stepping down?
When did Lenay Kekua enroll at LSU?
MGoShoe is among those who retweeted this:
Talked to a source at LSU tonight.. there is no truth to that wild rumor.
— Bruce Feldman (@BFeldmanCBS) March 3, 2013
combined with the stuff further up the thread, can you do a title change? Just something that notes that we were sitting sound gossiping about fake rumors all night.
It wasn't me! I didn't start this thread.
Didn't mean to imply you did. I meant for it to be like, hey OP, check out this tweet that pretty much confirms we were going all TMZ the last few hours.
Edit: Derp. The first thing I wrote was specifically directed at a certain poster who was not the OP. When I deleted the other posters handle from the post I left the "you". As usual, Raoul comes out looking good and I look dumb. Such is life...
This apparently started with a tweet from a student reporter at Western Kentucky and the Alabama 247 board.
Given Les Miles poor time management skills there is NO way he could have an affair.
They cant put anything on the internet that aint true...duhhh...
Sex w/ Every Coed. Now we know why their fans chant it all the time.
So, can he coach a defensive line?
It'd be the loss of a freaking national treasure!
Uh... unless they get Ed Orgeron to come be their head coach. It doesn't get more Bayou than Orgeron.
examples of why we need the old voting system. A "5" just doesn't capture how hard you guys have made me laugh this otherwise boring Saturday night.
Even if it is true, its not big news to us. We're set in our coaching staff unless Les decides he really wants to coach just the D-Line and recruit. He'd be a big plus on that front, otherwise, meh. I hope its not true; otherwise, there's no one in the SEC West to stand up to Saban for the foreseeable future.
Except for the team that beat them last year.
Wow, completely forgot about A&M. Still, this would make Saban's job considerably easier.
I still could see it happening. Hot 20 something coeds throwing themselves at you is a temptation that is hard for any man.
Sometimes they work in pairs.
I would do both of 'em
I would be in deep trouble.
This could be a masterful play of the tide faithful. I'd bet if you searched for the seed tweet, it have roll ride written all over it.
I heard it was Tai Eugenes sister, and Lloyd turned him in....
Never mind, moderator. I just saw Blaze's photo.....
SEC coaches are just a fucked up breed.
Rumor apparently debunked. Edit title plz.
