Les Miles stepping down?

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

If it's true, it doesn't really effect Michigan except for coaches we could potentially poach.

Sam McGaw @sammcgaw There are rumors that LSU head football coach Les Miles will step down on Monday after allegedly having an affair with a student. Hmm..

Jacob J Mayer @jacobjmayer Rumors going around that Les Miles is resigning Monday. Haven't seen anything to back it up, but Tigerdroppings admins are working overtime

That's a pretty hefty suggestion.  Why don't you just explain what the heck you're talking about?  And what did he have to do with either of those deaths?  He's not the overseer of all the goings on in South Bend.

Death and cover ups seem to coincidentally follow this guy wherever he goes. Just an unlucky guy I suppose. Chicago Tribune December 2009 Kelly responded with team discipline as well as any new coach could. But he embroiled himself in controversy explaining why several CMU players may have perjured themselves trying to protect a teammate. "For example, a number of them were African-Americans that had been in that culture of violence, and they're taught to look away," Kelly said in the Sept. 22, 2005, edition of the Detroit Free Press. "You don't want anything to do with it. Get out of there. You don't say anything to anybody. "That is a culture that they are immersed in. When they come here, their first reaction is to react the way they've been taught to react in their culture and in their environment. That's difficult." http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2009-12-08/news/0912070751_1_cmu-cen…

Investigators wanted to see Sullivan's video footage to figure out what happened. Brian Kelly refused to give the tape up because he said it showed parts of their walkthrough for the upcoming game.

Eventually OSHA was allowed to view edited clips of Sullivan's recording, they were only permitted to view them in a designated location and not allowed to take the tapes with them.

If OSHA has jurisdiction over your workplace they can do anything they want. The only reason why they wouldn't do anything is if there was pressure from above. Eventually Notre Dame was fined 77 thousand dollars but that's spare change for them.

In the first part of ther report Brian Kelly said it was a "Beautiful day", OSHA says otherwise. Here is small portion of the report.

What a joke. I never had much dislike of ND before Kelly but there is just too much weird stuff with him. Things like this make me think the whole Teo saga was cooked up by Kelly and Teo. If ND is willing to cover up negligent homicide and sexual assault what would stop them from making up Lennay Kakua?

I am from MP and know people close to the program and it is safe to say Kelly didn't leave any friends in his wake. Being a jerk, making public statements about black culture and their hatred for the police being a reason his players didn't cooperate in a murder investigation and having members of the team murder a 150 pound gay kid outside of a bar for talking some smack didn't earn him too many friends in MP.

Yup. Some of my buddies played for him at GVSU and I heard multiple stories of him being caught hooking up with secretaries, Coeds, etc. He always felt above it all and never thought he'd be found out since he controlled everyone in the athletic dept

The moral of the story is, that turning down Michigan might cost you your marriage. That's two coaches who basically accepted the job, ended up turning it down, then having an affair come out.

Miles turn down Michigan? If you are referring to post Carr, we screwed that up, he wanted to be the coach. If referring to post rich rod? Dave Brandon never was going to hire him nor did he offer, I have first hand knowledge of that. Les has burned many bridges in Ann Arbor...

Pete Carroll apparently was having an affair with a grad student and Charlie Weis made a public comment about it once.

And in terms of Les Miles a) his wife is definitely not a looker and b) if this student affair is true, then I'm totally buying the whole rumor of how Lloyd wasn't too fond of him because of some inappropriate activities he engaged in with Gary Moellers's wife. Two rumors usually add up to something.

College football losing Les Miles would suck though. This gives me a whole new view to the Les Miles Loves to Eat Grass meme....

Before we all implicate Moeller's wife, we should note that that's just one version of the rumor. Others were that he was sleeping with students.

Keep in mind that when you spread this particular rumor, you're not just making Miles look bad, you're making Mrs. Moeller as well, and that may be totally unfair.

But I have it on good authority that this is the accepted story among those "in the know." In other words, this isn't an internet creation (unlike this latest rumor).

So regardless of what actually happened, whatever DID happen resulted in a significant falling-out between Moeller and Miles.

There are at least some insiders who swear that this story is nonsense.

Again, when you repeat this story you are not just implicating Miles, but also the wife of someone who is still part of the Michigan athletic family.  Gary Moeller still attends athletic events frequently.  I think we should exercise caution here.

And I'm not going to try to win a "my insiders are more insiderish than your insiders" battle, cause that's not my point. My point is simply that is is a widely held view in many circles (from message board trolls like myself to past and present Athletic Department hoi polloi). And these stories have existed for 17 years. Mentioning in isn't breaking any new ground.

In other words, the rumors (whether fatually true or not) and their general acceptance inform the current relationship between Miles and various Michigan factions.

I don't think we are implicating anyone here. We are just talking about what we heard, read, etc. I know that various idiot journalists surf these blogs/forums and use the information but that's more of a indictment on the state of journalism today. Anyways, it's not like this is some official place where everything is of fact. Everything will be okay.

This site won't tolerate an unsubstantiated rumor for a minute... but, if the rumor has been around long enough, and BISB heard it, then it must be true?

discretion is the better part of valor my friend and I would prefer that we not sit here like high school students and debate who slept with who...

it's the reason moellar went ballistic at that restaurant and lost his job.  player/friends have told me this on a number of occassions.    therefore, more than 'rumor', not a debate, just confirming that BiSB was on solid ground with his comment, nothing more.
