How about we let Mary Sue Coleman and David Brandon make this determination? If they're okay with him, why shouldn't we be?
0-2 and 0-1 on well organized coaching searches, excuse me if I don't trust their judgment.
To the folks saying we haven't met LM and we should just trust DB's judgement, does that still hold if he goes with Hoke?
To see the answers to this one.
A friend and fellow wolverine predicted at the beginning of the season that UofM would go 7-5 this season and RR would be fired. He was right, but how did that help the team?
If Brandon hires Hoke, what do you suggest I do? Renounce my University? Heck no. We've all just got to suck it up and come together for the benefit of the team. This past year, how many games did we start off on fire, only to come undone in the 2nd quarter after some mistake was made? So much of college football is attitude and momentum. This year's team was young and couldn't overcome the penalties and turnovers. With a year of seasoning, (~19 starters return) they should be much better equipped to overcome the negative plays.
However, if they are playing in a less than full stadium, and the crowd is booing them and the coach, I don't see how that helps us get back to where we want to be.
Who's talking about renouncing universities? I'm talking about potential double standards based on the use of a blanket argument to deflect any possible criticism.
If Hoke is hired, I'm assuming that you were suggesting that we'd be crazy to trust Brandon. I might have trouble with the decision, but I plan to keep my yapper shut this time. At least until February.
I'm suggesting that some people saying "trust DB" in the context of hiring LM are making that point only because they want LM to be the coach, and that they wouldn't be making that argument if this thread was about Hoke's shortcomings.
If hoke is hired I would buy the first "Hokus Pokus" t-shirt at MGoStore, suppot the guy and pray that he turns into the next Bo
If he hires Gruden, I would need to know where one finds a Chucky doll these days.
If he hires Pa(e)tterson, I would support either of them too.
You see, I am a Michigan fan. I loved the team when it coached by Bo, by Mo (who drove me nuts), by Carr, and by Rich Rod. I will continue to love the team. This isn't about scoring points on a freaking blog.
[Edit - wow, did I have typos on this one. It is too late for me, folks. Good night all. Go Blue!]
I'll be a fan of the team no matter who the coach is too. Doesn't mean I should look the other way no matter what any individual member of the organization does. You've got to have some standard somewhere. I mean, to extrapolate to something silly: if the next coach was Ted Kazinsky, would you be running to the MGoStore for your UnaCoacher hoodie?
It's not black or white. Nobody's perfect and there are two sides to every story. This is about where you draw your line in the sand in the gray region. LM isn't even willing to talk to his own players about what he's done. To me, that's a big deal.
Les Miles is from Krypton. They don't have any kind of signing limits there so he is adjusting to a new environment.
This also explains his incredible sexual prowess and superhuman strength.
How much have you been drinking tonight?
I just snapped about a day and a half ago after the tenth "OMG is there any truth to those rumors about Miles and Moeller's wife?" post I read.
After that I figured, in this information free environment, reinventing Les Miles as a superhuman sex maniac would be much more productive than anything else I could do with my time.
After reading this thread on Les Miles I was amazed. I hope all you moral people standing in judgment of LM make it to church today, read the part in the bible on standing in judgment. I not going religious on you I’m saying you are talking a lot of morals here could you stand up to the review? I love to see a lot of these accusations backed up with facts you may come up with a couple but most of this stuff is just rumors.
Or read any of Brian's post breaking it down?
I don't think you have to be religious to have morals. But I'm sure I could stand up to the test some of these people posit, of not lying or cheating in business, or worse, people who trust you and are supposed to be part of your family. (Players). I think it's far sadder that the Pryor "everybody murders" rant seems to be the philosophy of a lot of people. And that they want Michigan's program to follow it.
And I'm sorry that Bo apparently isn't only dead...he's forgotten.
Go talk to Michigan fans face-to-face. Show them or tell them about the video. The difference between the anonymous fan opinons online and what you run into in-person is like night-vs-day.
They wrote Les Miles out of the entire story just because Miles has better abs than Jesus.
I'm not arguing that Les Miles won't get into heaven or that he'll be reincarnated as a worm. I'm arguing that his behavior suggests that he isn't fit to the lead the team.
I imagine that at least some pattern of behavior by a person would lead you to believe that a person was unfit to coach the team, even if it wasn't Miles.
guy played by the sec rules can't we all understand that.If he comes to Michigan he will not do that.
Well, hello there. You're right. We are pretty terrible. Thanks for pointing that out. Your argument is so convincing that I just became a MSU fan. I will now walk the earth, jobless and dumb, until I am thrown into a ditch and spit on by my own mother, a mother who eats seven desserts a day and fucks cowboys because their boots are shiny.
Every day I tell myself there is no way MGoBlog can be more entertaining than it was yesterday. Then, a thread like this comes along and raises my entertainment standards. No way this gets topped tomorrow.
In August 2005, days before Miles was to make his debut as the coach of LSU, Hurricane Katrina struck southern Louisiana.
Coincidence? I think not. Les Miles is THE DEVIL.
Not to start a political debate but to me it's a lot like Cash for Clunkers. I knew a fuckton of Republicans and conservative friends/relatives who were against the program/Obama but still took advantage of it. Why? They got a great deal. Les does this because it's the norm in the SEC, especially at top flight programs. If you want to compete with Saban it's going to be very, very hard to do it without doing this.
