Les Miles meeting with Minnesota officials

Submitted by jimmyshi03 on

Reports seem to be putting Les Miles in meetings with Minnesota officals.

Personally, I've felt like this is the best fit for Miles in the B1G (even when Claeys was employed), since the offensive philosophy (Cro-Magnon manball) in place is spiritually closest to the one he's been running the last several years, and the one thing Minnesota has needed has been someone capable of upgrading their recruiting to get them past the hard ceiling that Mason and Kill got them to (basically 8 wins with a weak non-con).

Let's ensure that nobody tells Les that TCF Bank Stadium uses Field Turf.  Then we can wager on the over/under on him figuring out why the grass really doesn't taste as good as it did in Baton Rouge.

Don't you LOVE this shit ! The Big 10 definitely needs another big time coach. Especially now that "Mork" isn't anymore.

Quick, Minnesota, do something actually sort of weirdly cool for once. Now is your chance!

Les in Big Ten would make the Big Ten just that much more interesting....in an entertaining way too.

I don't see Les being successful at Minnesota. His prowess in recruiting at LSU will not translate to Minnesota, and without high end recruits I doubt he has any idea what to do.

Minnesota really needs to find someone who can use the realistic recruits you can draw from the upper midwest with a few thrown in from around the country and then develop them into a strong team. In essence, the Wisconsin and Iowa model.

Does anyone remember the Tubby Smith experiment in basketball? No, I guess not, Minnesota basketball and all. But still! It would be similar!

Tubby also got fired despite winning a tournament game and nobody was upset. He underperformed the expectations the fanbase had. He had decent talent and never really saw any results from it.

Expectations are higher for MN basketball than football, but he wasn't a great fit. Of course, Pitino Jr. isn't exactly lighting the world on fire, either, so we'll see what happens.

Of course Les will not get the greatest talent level at Minny, but he will definitely be an upgrade from what they have been accustomed too. I personally look forward to seeing Les in the B1G if it happens. Hope he does well unless he is playing M.
