Les Miles meeting with Minnesota officials
Reports seem to be putting Les Miles in meetings with Minnesota officals.
Personally, I've felt like this is the best fit for Miles in the B1G (even when Claeys was employed), since the offensive philosophy (Cro-Magnon manball) in place is spiritually closest to the one he's been running the last several years, and the one thing Minnesota has needed has been someone capable of upgrading their recruiting to get them past the hard ceiling that Mason and Kill got them to (basically 8 wins with a weak non-con).

If lsufreek doesn't follow him to Minnesota, I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

Are you telling me HUGE was just pulling shit out of thin air with the PJ Fleck offer?

Hearing that children issues may be roadblock on Fleck side. Close to deal and done deal are different. No firm word yet from either side. https://t.co/TgQsfPwFO0

Yet he, that old wily HUGE is ever on the case!

His Twitter page is quite fascinating. He's now feuding with the editor of the WMU student paper.

He's a real street fighter.

I don't think he was pulling out of thin air, but rather online. The Minnesota 24/7 message board thinks Fleck was offered.

....BTW, that is not where you pull shit out of. You pull it out of columbus or a cooler used by one of their fans....

If I recall the movies correctly, Stiffler's a Spartan. The action and mindset are still accurate, he's just not a Buckeye.

Former LSU football coach Les Miles flew to Twin Cities Wed. and is meeting with Univ. of Minnesota officials, sources tell @120Sports.

Let's ensure that nobody tells Les that TCF Bank Stadium uses Field Turf. Then we can wager on the over/under on him figuring out why the grass really doesn't taste as good as it did in Baton Rouge.

Les Miles: The defect in this blade is ... bleach.
Mark Coyle: That's right.
Les Miles: Yesssssss! This blade tastes like the grass was grown in an onion patch.
Mark Coyle: Correct.
Les Miles: Yesssss!!

Les must be aiming for a working retirement. Seems like a big difference of comparitive resources between LSU and Minny.

Don't you LOVE this shit ! The Big 10 definitely needs another big time coach. Especially now that "Mork" isn't anymore.
January 5th, 2017 at 5:53 PM ^
Quick, Minnesota, do something actually sort of weirdly cool for once. Now is your chance!
Les in Big Ten would make the Big Ten just that much more interesting....in an entertaining way too.

They could be the new #CHAOSTEAM.
We're in the market for one now that Indiana has named DeBord as OC.
January 5th, 2017 at 5:56 PM ^
I don't see Les being successful at Minnesota. His prowess in recruiting at LSU will not translate to Minnesota, and without high end recruits I doubt he has any idea what to do.
Minnesota really needs to find someone who can use the realistic recruits you can draw from the upper midwest with a few thrown in from around the country and then develop them into a strong team. In essence, the Wisconsin and Iowa model.
Does anyone remember the Tubby Smith experiment in basketball? No, I guess not, Minnesota basketball and all. But still! It would be similar!
January 5th, 2017 at 6:04 PM ^
Tubby Smith wasn't all that bad at Minnesota. They made the tournament a couple of times. He was kind of odd hire but by their basketball standards, he was OK.
January 5th, 2017 at 6:10 PM ^
Tubby also got fired despite winning a tournament game and nobody was upset. He underperformed the expectations the fanbase had. He had decent talent and never really saw any results from it.
Expectations are higher for MN basketball than football, but he wasn't a great fit. Of course, Pitino Jr. isn't exactly lighting the world on fire, either, so we'll see what happens.
January 5th, 2017 at 6:47 PM ^
Of course Les will not get the greatest talent level at Minny, but he will definitely be an upgrade from what they have been accustomed too. I personally look forward to seeing Les in the B1G if it happens. Hope he does well unless he is playing M.
