I remember hearing this during one of the games, that these players never expected to play Division 1 lacrosse. Other programs when they make the jump usually have a grace period, and any recruiting they do the kids know coming in that "I'm going to play with the big boys now", whereas with the exception of maybe a few Freshman, all of these guys just played cause they love Lacrosse and MIchigan. We'll improve in time, and the group now set the tone

I played for the Michigan Club team in the 90's, and John Paul coached me in high school and while I was at Michigan.  I am very proud of the efforts that JP has put in over the years to bring varsity lacrosse to Michigan.

I watched the lax conference championships on ESPNU this past weekend, and the commentators said something to the effect of, "Michigan is absolutely KILLING IT in recruiting..."

Even while I was playing club ball, Michigan attracted a great many east coast lax players that either didn't get scholarship offers from top eastern lax programs, or simply wanted to come to Michigan.  Today, however, top high school lax players are coming from all over the nation , not just the NY, NJ, PA, and MD.  With the facilities that the AD is going to build for lax, and the historical east coast connection at Michigan, it won't be long before Michigan Lax is up there with nation's elite programs.

Congrats JP and the other Michigan Lax Men!  It's been a long time coming, and we're very proud of you!

do a search on greatlaxstate.com.  He did a bunch of hello posts and a summary of the class when they signed.  Great site.

BTW, that video was made by my teammate at Michigan, who has gone on to win a number of Emmy's.  Guy makes some amazing videos.

I found this site:

http://games.insidelacrosse.com/list/

It shows that we have the #28 (Ian King) and #35 (Robbie Zonino) players for 2013. It didn't list us as having anyone in the top 100 for the 2012 class while it appears that Ohio has zero which is always nice. I do think Michigan's east coast connections will really really help us out in lacrosse

Like all recruit news, it depends on the source you go to for rankings.  Next year's class has a  few guys who are highly ranked by ESPN Rise.  #15 Brad Lott (who is also the #1 ranked faceoff guy, which should help Michigan a ton), #27 Brendan Gaughan (big attackman from La Costa Canyon who played football with Erik Magnuson).  Also guys like Paxton Moore and Graham Conlan who they rated highly in their position rankings (both top 25).  The jewel of the class may be Kyle Jackson from Toronto.  Inside Lacrosse had him as the #2 Canadian in next year's class.  That's big.

Gotta remember that these guys will all be freshmen next year though.  It will still take some time.
