LeFevour to Battle Forcier for Hamilton Ticats 3rd String QB

Submitted by UMgradMSUdad on

Tate Forcier already beat out two other rookies for the 3rd string QB on the Hamilton Ticats team.  Now he will have to compete with former CMU standout QB Dan LeFevour:

With Henry Burris firmly entrenched as the starter and Quinton Porter the No. 2 man, LeFevour will battle with Tate Forcier — the only QB holdover from the initial crop of three rookies — for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart. The Ticats are hoping that spot will eventually produce a legitimate CFL starter.

Kudos to Forcier for beating out the two rookies.  It should be quite a battle with LeFevour for that last QB position.  May the best man win.

Should he really get kudos for that? What's the competition like among CFL rookie QBs? Were the other people even D1 talents?

LeFevour is an interesting comp to Forcier.  Both system QB's and similar skills, but LeFevour was a more durable runner and appears to have a better control of...life.  I enjoyed watching both of them play.

Honestly if he loses out here - then what?

Is his football career over?

Now that he has lost his amateur status, college is no longer an option.

I never thought so much could ride on a 3rd string CFL battle, but Tate really could lose all hope of playing the game (let alone playing in the NFL) if he can't beat out LeFevour.

At least he'll have more time for, ahem, "recreational" things?

Fire Up Chips!

We were wondering what ever happened to my boy!  Really thought he had what it was going to take at the next level!  Tate? Not so much!

How are both of these guys not higher on the depth chart? Who could they possibly have is that much better.

I can't imagine that every team in this league has 2 QBs on it's roster that are better than Forcier and LeFevour. I would think both could be backups (at least).

Henry Burris is 37 years old, so whoever wins this backup QB battle will have a shot at the starting position sometime in the next couple seasons.

As an aside, I remember when Burris started a few games for the Bears as a rookie.  I don't know if I've ever seen a NFL QB look more overmatched (35.3 completion percentage, etc.).
