LeBron gives Ohio players Beats by Dre

Submitted by wresler120 on

LeBron James has given all of the Ohio players a free pair of Beats by Dre according to Urban Meyer's twitter account, and many players twitter feeds. The gifts were given as a token of congratulations for making the NC game.

It seems to me like this should be a NCAA violation, it definitely gives them an edge in recruiting. Now Urban can tell players if you come to Ohio, you'll be shocked by the gift LeBron is giving the team next year.

Special thanks to @KingJames @beatsbydre for their support to the Buckeyes!

At what point can you stop someone from giving a gift? For real? I think Ohio found that out when Jack Maxton was giving them gifts of cars. That's like saying "come to Ohio and LeBron is giving everyone 65" Sony 4K Ultra's next season." Don't worry it's all Kosher

Apparently it's okay because it's a gift to the entire team, so was probably given to the athletic department.  Time for Mr. Ross to give the athletic department 115 condos in Miami.

Ohio State refers to themselves as Ohio State or OSU and Ohio refers to themselves os Ohio University, Ohio or OU.  This "let's call Ohio State Ohio to demain them" bullshit is weak; let's not try to pretend it's a real thing other than in some UM fans' minds.

btw, the OH-IO shit as well as the form OHIO w/ people is a state thing.

If this were part of the gift package then wouldn't Oregon deserve them too? I heard there is a separate gift package for this game given by the Bowl itself. This is separate from that gift

Oregon players got them too...have seen tweets from their players showing the same. This is no different than the bowl game gifts every team gets as this is their bowl game. Move along - nothing to see here.

You have fallen hook line and sinker for the marketing.

No studio engineer who knows anything about mastering would ever use Beats headphones to master an album.  Maybe not even at gunpoint.   Generally stuff is mastered on monitors, not headphones anyway, but if they do use headphones, they are not going to use Beats.

I'm not saying they don't give it a listen to see what it sounds like on Beats, since they know a lot of people will be listening to it that way, but that is not going to be the primary way they master the album.  For mastering you want something that gives you a neutral response, which is NOT Beats.

I'd bet even Dre doesn't master his stuff on Beats.   He's too smart for that.

Maybe Tom Brady should buy all Michigans players new BMWs since this is a free for all?

Maybe he will give keys to the mansion in Malibu for weekend parties?

Shit is getting out of hand in regards to the rules.

Simple explanation. The beats were part of the gift bag, Urban used the opportunity to say they were from LeBron.  They were not from LeBron, they were from the NCAA, Oregon got them too. LeBron still hates you, Ohio

Lebron is a minority owner in Beats by Dre and he donated them to the college's athletic department as part of their $400/player gift allotment for participating in the Championship. However, gifts to both teams have to be identical, so Beats/Apple had to give headphones to Oregon too. So... technically both teams got Beats by Dre courtesy of Lebron, but he's only claiming the ones he gave to OSU.
