oh wait, nevermind, FML. here's to the beginning of hoops season. Desperately hoping they have a great year in a very tough Big ten.

It's killing me, but I keep saying the same thing - switching from sport to sport. At least we have hockey. Now it's at least we have basketball. Hopefully that will stick and I won't be relying on "at least we have women's volleyball" (although they are pretty good from what I've read). Isn't the softball team going to be good???

it's the 1st month of the season and you get swept by the #1 team in the nation and you're packing it in and moving on to basketball? Do you realize Miami's playoff run last year almost didn't happen because they almost didn't even make the tourney? It's hockey. Get in as one of the final 16, hope you're hot, and make a run at the title. The best team rarely wins it all; just ask Kevin Porter and Chad Kolarik.

I just figured out that I hate sarcasm. First my GF "thanks" me for not putting dinner away, and now comes this post. I really appreciate the dashing of my hopes and dreams like that. This may be the greatest thread in the history of this board.

I honestly cannot tell if you're mad or not. 1.) "I hate sarcasm" 2.) "I really appreciate the dashing of my hopes." 3.) "This may be the greatest thread in the history of this board." Now, if (1) is false, and you love sarcasm, then I believe you love my post. In which case, you're welcome. Since (2) is almost surely false, then you apparently use sarcasm, so I conclude (1) is false, and you love sarcasm. So you're welcome for (3). That was an entertaining logic excercise.

This team has not gelled yet. There was no smoothness on the passes, Miami broke up virtually every rush Michigan had at their blue line, knocking guys off the puck or getting sticks in the passing lane. Michigan's D let Hogan down, leaving him high and dry on a couple, and it would have been much worse if Hogan didn't make some big saves. There's little organization on the power play, and there were some issues in terms of poor decisions, poor choices, and letting anger get in the way of quality play. Still too early to panic, but Miami looked very good and Michigan looks like it needs some work. (Please note, I'm probably being more pessimistic on this than usual, but come on, after yesterday, taken as a whole, it's hard to be a bit down.)

Pessimistic? I'd say you're spot on, if not a bit overly optimistic there. Last night left a lot to be desired, and exposed plenty of flaws with this team. It's still early, but looking at the schedule, they don't have the luxury of time to figure it out. That's what the last month was supposed to be for.
