LB recruit Steve Mehrer

I did a search and did not get any results, but I know he has been mentioned but maybe not by name at this point. Anyone else watch this kid's highlight film? From Dublin, OH, listed at 6'1", 220. Runs through people as a LB and around and past them as a fullback. If memory serves, it was this highlight reel they sent to the UM staff which prompted interest. Kid looks like a true MIKE and was born to play it in the big ten.

If the highlights were from this season, you're going to have to wait to see how good this kid really is. Central Ohio HS football is pathetic this year. The tourney when he has to play against quality programs from the NE and Cincinnati areas will tell the tale. Dublin Coffman is so much better than the rest of the teams in Central Ohio it isnt even funny. A few weeks ago they played the number one team in the region when Dublin Coffman was number 2 and the score was something like 59-3 or equally as ugly.

I would put this in a separate post but I dont have enough points yet. Last night when I checked my facebook I noticed that Cullen Christian was non to pleased with fans stalking him and trying to influence his decision. I completely agree with the kid lay off him he's not going to let complete strangers influence his decision on where he goes to school. I think I can speak for many of us if you have any sense at all that you leave Cullen alone and let him make the decision that his best for him and just lay off.

I dont know if your familiar with facebook but when you log on you see what your other friends or saying. I'm friends with Cullen and many other Michigan players and recruits. I have never and never will actually interact with them. I'm sure many Michigan fans are guilty of trying to persuade him to us I am not one of them.

Hi - this is the real Mr Mehrer.  I didn’t write this post from 9 yrs ago as you imply.  Could have been a coach or fan, who knows. Maybe the webmaster can research the poster.  

Anyway, I’m doing some reminiscing because my son is now deceased and stumbled across this post from the past. I just want this post to be accurate so I’m writing a reply now. Otherwise in 100 yrs, some random crazy Michigan fan (like I am) could see the inaccurate assumption that Mr Mehrer was posting about his son.  I wasn’t.  The cool part for me is somebody other than me thought my kid kicked ass!  That’s pretty cool for a regular guy like me.  We fricking hoped and prayed he would get an offer from Rich Rod but Steve had major reconstructive shoulder surgery (for labrum, rotator cuff et al.)  2 weeks after this post and ended up at Kent State.   Let’s Go Blue!
