Latest Tate Rumor: Hawaii

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

Tate has apparently contacted Hawaii about wanting to play there.  Part of me thinks this would be great for him - very laid back atmosphere and less media pressure from a football standpoint.  Plus a great system that could allow him to thrive.

Of course, with Hawaii comes multiple distractions and distance from home (a key factor he focused on when looking for a new school).

Again, wish Tate all the best.  This may actually be a great destination for him.

If they can turn a pizza delivery boy walkon into a gun slinging dual threat, then I think he can succeed there. Lacks the requisite hair, however.

....as good as any...I wouldn't mind seeing a familar face for those 11:30 (eastern) kickoffs on ESPN 8.   Im assuming, like most of us, he will learn from his past and he won't make the same stupid decisions.  I  can see him thriving on the field

will probably find the rest of them to be trivial. I'd love to see him settle down and find some success somewhere.

I went to Wakiki for 4 days and to Poipu Kauai at the Grand Hyatt.  I can honestly say I have never been anywhere like it.  This place is absolutely amazing.  The pool is a lazy river and then they have a separate salt water pool.  Then a short stroll away is the ocean with some of the most amazing waves I have ever seen.  I strongly recommend this hotel.  It is worth every penny.  Also you can drive to Princeville from there in a short time and take a tour of the Nepali coast.  It was by far the most beautiful place I have ever seen and there isn't even a close second other than my first time walking into the Big House.  Here are a few pics:

As a moderately recruited high school basketball player in the mid-90's, I always had these dreams at night that Hawaii was bringing me in on a full ride.   They never contacted me, of course, nor did any school outside the state of Michigan.

Best part is, I'm damn near 35 years old, and I STILL have the occassional dream that I'm on a full ride hoops scholarship at Hawaii.   WTF?

Halfway down the stairs
Is a stair where I sit.
There isn't any other stair quite like it.
I'm not at the bottom i'm not at the top.
So this is the stair where i always stop.

Halfway up the stairs isn't up isn't down.
It isn't in the nursery, it isn't in the town.
And all sorts of funny thoughts run round my head.
It isn't really anywhere!
It's somewhere else instead!

Forcier could probably put up some great numbers at Hawaii.  With the exception of one or two teams, the caliber of athletes Hawaii routinely face are one notch below what he normally faced in the Big Ten.

Tate Forcier isn't going to "grow up" no matter where he goes, at least in the manner in which his critics would rather see.  When you look at the family website and history, they all have a history of moving from school to school, and even junior team to junior team, in search of what they feel to be their best opportunity.  While many of us may see the Forciers as basket cases, they appear to see themselves as people who are adaptable and mobile enough to get out of no-win situations.

For better or worse, Tate Forcier is highly unlikely to go against his family/support system just because fans and/or writers think he is "immature."  I think Hawaii would be a great situation for him.  He would get on national TV a little bit, and the system suits him.  I hope he puts up big numbers, keeps the concussions to a minimum, and goes on to lead a thriving family business in the field of sport development.

And if he maintains a big ego to go with his short stature, he certainly won't be the first person to ever do so.  And he won't be the first QB with a big ego, either.

Wait. I thought Tate was determined to attend a school close to his family. Hmm. Could it be that Tate's word is not reliable? This sounds right up there with his "I've finally turned it around academically" speech a day before he was suspended for academic reasons.

He may not be out of the spotlight as much as you think.  People love football here.  The teaser on the FRONT page of the paper edition takes up the top 1/4 with a large photo of Tate passing in a Michigan home game.  The story takes the whole bottom 1/3 of the front page of the sports section.

It is very easy to be distracted here.  It takes a lot of self discipline to hit the books.  Ann Arbor weather during the school year is much more conducive to staying home and studying. I do not know that this would be a good fit for someone with academic issues.  The only positive for him is that UH is not as rigorous as UM.
