In general and outside of football, LKLIII you are dead on the money.
Within football coaching staff, no idea.

Other coaches would come into tecruits loving room showing off rings, Clinton comes in with secret service. Former Potus trumps any bowl victories or championships.

highly unlikely if the insanely competetive alpha dog HC has the respect of all parties involved and feels the team would benefit from co-coordinator situation
December 16th, 2014 at 10:57 AM ^
I would would have agreed with that last year but a lot of good teams have them now.
A short list of teams with co-offensive coordinators:
Michigan State, Arizona, Florida State, Ohio State, Clemson, TCU, Auburn, Miss State, and Ole Miss. Right now 7 of the top 10 teams have co-coordinators and some even have co-coordinators on both sides of the ball which I found interesting.

Moeller hasn't been mentioned specificly as co-OC, just one that would likely be on the staff should JH come. Wheatly is definitely in the running for that but I think they might mean co-OC in that Harbaugh will essentially act as OC as well. Definitely getting Durkin chatter for DC on multiple fronts. I've also heard Jerald Ingram's name as one to watch out for for the RB coaching job.

where do you think OCs come from?
Here's a hint... at Stanford, Harbaugh's co-OCs were David Shaw (previously an NFL WR coach) and Greg Roman (previously an NFL assistant OL coach).

No, he's correct, unfortunately. Andy Moeller has had at least three alcohol related arrests / DUIs.
December 15th, 2014 at 11:48 PM ^
Andy has faced numerous alcohol related incidents over the years. He is a damn good coach and I'd overlook it if he can keep his shit together.

Don;t know where the info on Moeller and Wheatley is coming from but Wheatley is an NFL RB coach and supposedly won't move unless he gets promoted. So that leaves OC as his only option. Apparently has HC aspirations.
Moeller has been an NFL OL coach mostly with the Ravens (OL coach and assistant OL coach), then moved this past year to the Browns. The "edge of internet' stuff a few nights ago supposedly came from his text message.
Again not sure where these 2 names have been "leaked" but that's a bit of their background. Obviously highly speculative sh** all around. :)

That has alread been happening since 2007. If no Harbaugh we will simply turn into a black hole. Nothing will be safe in the solar system.

Relax -- the fact that Hackett has kept his process quiet doesn't mean that he doesn't have a strong list of interested backup candidates. This search isn't a bit like the last one.

Oh, we'll be suicidal.
We've already made plans, gotten the dress fitted, and even bought the stationary:
Mrs. Jim Harbaugh.
We're going to be one raging beyotch if this does not work out.

1. Mattison is over the hill
2. Fangio is probably in line to be the Niners next HC
December 15th, 2014 at 11:58 PM ^
I looked pretty closely at Fangio in one of the diaries. Awesome coach. But a NFL guy through and through. Other than 1 year at Stanford (wherre he totally transformed the defense into awesomeness) he has been in the NFL his whole career. Would love to have him but just seems like a guy who was out of a job and went from Baltimore to Stanford (from 1 brother to the next) for the short term.
Mattison is hit or miss. This was the 5th-6th best defense in the Big 10 this year despite a lot of experience and talent. Think there are better out there.
December 16th, 2014 at 3:57 AM ^
People don't seem to know that Jim's entire MO at Stanford was taking NFL castoffs who couldn't find jobs in the league. People are balking at the idea that he'd name two NFL position coaches co-OCs and yet that is exactly what he did at Stanford.
The side effect of that is that guys like Fangio and Roman, who couldn't find pro gigs, are now likely to breeze into them even if they're demotions (in Roman's case).
