I really hate to agree with you, but if McGary is projected to go in the first round, he'll leave. I really don't blame him, but damn, does it suck!

With all three of them leaving (four really, with Horford), it really leaves a big hole in their team.

Who's gonna play 5? The redshirt sophomore?

Please stay Mitch!!!!!!!!!!

Donnal has to play the 5. My concern is who else do we have to give him a break or if he gets into foul trouble. I don't think Horford is very good but at least he gave us a body. Max is a 4 at best.

like a late first round pick projection is a solid ticket. Beilein is right, you should go to the NBA because you're ready, not because of a projection. If Mitch believes in his heart he is ready then part of that should be based on his belief that he can compete at that level and make a roster.

has a lot more potential than being a late first round pick.  He has a shot to be a lottery pick if he just puts together one solid season in college.

From my observer persepctive, I don't understand why he would leave this year to be drafted late-first round/early second -round.  If he stays and plays for a season, he'll be a top-5 pick in the 2015, which would net him more money overall in the next 3 seasons even with the one unpaid college season.  I don't see his age being a factor -- smart GMs would see they'd be getting a player closer to his prime (as opposed to 19-year old big man to whom they'd have to commit a decent chunk of salary cap space and PT to develop over a couple unproductive years and then hope to be able to resign when that player is finally approaching his prime).  I don't think I'm exaggerating about the "top-5 pick in the 2015" thing.  Agile playmaking and efficient rebounding big men with NBA bodies are rare and valuable commodities.

Plus, he could be the BMOC and the dominant force in college basketball next year, and then leave Michigan with a Denard-type legacy with the fans.

Of course, with Stauskas and GRIII leaving, he might feel somewhat left behind by his peers/pals next year, and he might just want to start getting paid to pay basketball now and not have to deal with class schedules anymore.  It's difficult for anyone at any age to look beyond the immediate future in making life decisions, and the grass probably looks greener regardless of draft position.
