Latest on Dee Hart?

Submitted by rickiew04 on

I know last night some people had some early news and twitter posts on the happenings with Dee Hart. Anything new after today?

He had a great time. He just sent me a text that he just landed. I'm sure he's exhausted, so I don't know if I'll talk to him tonight.

With a recruit as highly touted and well-known as Dee Hart, and with an event as consequential as a campus visit, any information that is both reliable and noteworthy will be prominently displayed on the board (or at www.twitter.com/TomVH).  You won't have to look hard.

Don't worry, we aren't holding back on you.

EDIT: And as I say that, Tom comes through with new information.  The man is a force of nature.

Was pretty inconclusive. He said they saw huge squirrels, he didn't reveal when he's gonna commit, he's considering FSU, Florida and Oregon now round out his top 5 with Michigan and Bama, and he liked that RR wants to use him like Noel Devine. Nothing earth shattering there, which is why we have TomVH.

Every time Tom posts or there is a post regarding Tom, he likes to say things like that.  For a while it was that Tom was Rivals and Scout's worst nightmare or something along those lines.  I have to agree with him because Tom is giving "premium" information to the mgoblog community.

to see "he saw huge squirrels" become the new "Sam Webb's got a gut feeling."

"Did Jake Fisher enjoy his Michigan visit?"

"Well, he's not ready to announce a commitment, but he saw huge squirrels in Ann Arbor."

The Noel Devine card is pretty powerful.  Any small and talented RB would have to wonder how cool it would be to be a Noel Devine type behind a Michigan OL.  If I was in Hart's position, they would have my verbal already.

Fan on Ricardo Miller's  wall:

Ricardo Miller:

Soon very soon it will b a treat to c wat happens

Im not much for creeping, but i had to pass along the possible good news. I am really hopeful that i will be seeing a Tom VH update/interview on Dee Hart. Followed shortly by his "Hello Demetrius Hart"

It's really up to the players if they wish to allow these "intrusive" fans to be "inappropriate."  With Facebook you are given the option to deny friend requests and hide certain parts of your profile you don't want people to see.

Obviously these players don't mind if they allow fans to become friends with them or don't take the time to make certain parts of their profile hidden to the public.

I understand everything you wrote.

And yet, I still have no idea how people think it's "appropriate" to send messages to 17-year-old kids, begging that they attend the school where they support the football team.

I know of fans of other teams that spend hours a day going onto recruits' social networking pages, writing disgraceful things about schools in order to try and deter them from committing to another school.

Frankly, it'd just be a better situation if we left these kids alone. If I were a top recruit and a senior in high school, I'd be creeped out beyond belief if some 38-year-old middle manager living in Alpena was sending me messages about my pending college choice.

I guess it just depends who you are as a person.

Me personally, if many fans/ alumni from one particular school were posting on my wall about how much they want me to attend their university it would have some effect on me. Especially if they were fans from a school I was highly considering.  Would wall posts from fans be a huge part in my deciding factor? No.  The university as a whole academically, athletically, and staff personnel wise would be huge factors in my decision making process.

Michigan has a huge alumni/ fan base and I think we should use it to our advantage as long as it is not breaking recruiting violations.

I'm genuinely shocked that people would be negged for making the common-sense argument that we should leave these kids alone.

Yes, in theory, Facebook shouldn't pose any problems because they can control access.  But they're teenagers.  They're not as emotionally and intellectually mature as we are.  They often don't understand that things posted on the internet are public, and that granting access to their pages can be potentially dangerous.  (And this is a problem for teenagers in general, not just athletes.)  Don't assume that they understand what they're doing.

The thing is that with recruits that seem to be on the fence, even if they do make a verbal commitment, you can't really rest until signing day when it's a done deal.  Too many of the youngsters simply have a hard time making up their minds and sticking with something until the time comes to do it.
