Late Night Game Thread/Woo Hoo screw you MSU!

Submitted by San Diego Mick on

We still have Minn/OSU and LSU/Bama going

Got AZ/USC and Cal/Oregon

I got tired of seeing backend batch fail so I started this thread, besides that other night thread is going to pass 1,000 comments soon if not already.

Would be great if Michigan can win out but even then I doubt they make the playoffs.  Unless there are a few upsets I figure Alabama gets one spot, Clemson another, then likely Baylor/OSU and ND or Stanford get the last 2.  And I wouldn't even be upset about getting left out, it would be an incredibly successful season and show real promise for the future when the team has a good to great QB.

Making the playoff is not a concern of mine. Would it be nice? Hell yes, but winning the Big Ten is the number one goal this season. I'd be extremely happy with a win over OSU in year one of Jim and a slot in the conference title game. I think we'd lose in the playoff anyway. We cannot beat Alabama. Clemson...eh - maybe. The other team would likely be Notre Dame if we win out and they do, too. We can beat them. Alabama is winning the title this year, though.

That's what happens when you have 5 straight #1 recruiting classes. LSU may be one of the most talented teams in the country but Alabama has more talent.

The only way to beat them is how OSU did them in the playoff last year or how Ole Miss did them this year or how Auburn has occasionally did them a few times over the past couple of years. Spread them out, then run. If you try to play power football against Alabama, the results will look like Wisconsin in week 1 and LSU tonight.

The announcers suggested that they couldn't review whether the player was forced out or not, just whether he was out in the first place.  Of course, the latter was never the issue.  Far be it for me to think the announcers know anything.  Does anyone know whether it's reviewable?  The mere fact that it was reviewed suggests the answer only if you have some confidence that they know what they're doing.

Oregon starting to run away with it. Cal looked like they might be able to hang for a bit but Oregon taking over. Looks like the annual RichRod inexplicably dominating victory over a PAC-12 team is in its early stages.

LSU wasn't playing to win the whole 4th quarter. They just didn't want to get their asses kicked. I consistently see better late game clock management from random people playing Madden.

says that the fact that the receiver was touched means that it could not be overturned, and it sounds like he's reporting what he's hearing from people from the Big Ten.  Once he's touched, it then becomes a judgment call as to whether he was forced out, and that is not reviewable.  (I guess they can review whether he was touched, which obviously he was.)  Now, don't get me wrong.  It's a terrible call, and Sparty got screwed.  I just want to know what is and is not true.

Actually, I think it makes it that much more delicious.  But, I just wanted to know the review guidelines and was interested in whether the refs were f'ing up by reviewing in the first place.  I'll pile on B1G refs even if I like the outcome.  The fact is that what they did past the call was correct.

It's kind of like the 2005 M/OSU game. We were winning late in the fourth, OSU was driving. I think it was third down and Anthony "I used sticky stuff on my gloves to catch every ball thrown to me" Gonzalez was supposedly pushed out of bounds, but eventually caught about a 20-30 yard pass for the first down, which is what put OSU in position to win that game. We all bitched that he was out of bounds and hence ineligible, but suddenly everyone was talking about a rule that if a guy is pushed out and almost immediately comes back onto the field, he is still eligible. If not for that shit, we likely would have won that game.
