Late afternoon/evening games Open Thread

Submitted by Avant's Hands on

Couple of afternoon games are still finishing up and then two of our rivals play what should be interesting games this evening. In Knoxville, Tennessee has just tied Georgia 24-24 in the 4th. And Okie St. just jumped back in front of Kansas St by 1 late in the game.

Tennessed just Tennessee'd right there...and then again on the next play. If you were ever in a situation where playing disciplined defense might pay off, it would be here. If Georgia ties, that's all on the Vols.

Georgia rips TN's heart out at Neyland better than any other team. 2001 last-minute TD by David Green, 2003 last-moment-of-1st half 100 yard fumble return TD, this. Wow.

Jokes aside, the Volunteers should be proud of that performance - statistically, they were neck-and-neck with Georgia in a lot of respects. Only three fewer first downs, only thirty yards difference in total offense, fairly similar passing performances. In most respects, they simply hung in there.

Even if you didn't grow up hating Notre Dame, wouldn't the NBC coverage do it? These announcers are already ripping on Arizona State on the first drive. That defense that is the worst tackling team you have seen just held the Irish to 0 points and ND had to pick up a 4th down conversion to get in FG range. No team should have their own personal announcers.

Damn I love college football. Been sitting on my ass since 10:00 this morning and I have loved every minute of it. It's always, of course, so much more fun to watch the plethora of night games after M wins. Looking forward to the night cap, Stanford versus Washington.

Neither can I. I'm all for the Wildcats winning this game.

Side note: I cannot wait to see the blimp view of the stadium. Let's see how many Buckeye fans are there. I can't stand how they invade stadiums. The crowd at the Cal game was just ridiculous.
