Late Afternoon Games Open Thread

Submitted by jcgold on

With So. Miss polishing off a big win vs. Houston, we can look forward to this afternoon's late games:

Iowa St. at #11 KSU - FSN (currently 17-13 K-State at half.  They could get a BCS spot if TCU is unable to move up)

UNLV at #18 TCU - Vs. (currently 21-3 in 2nd.  See BCS potential)

#22 Texas at #17 Baylor - ABC (No, Baylor will not be in BCS)

#14 Georgia vs. #1 LSU - CBS

Hopefully this last weekend will deliver some more good games.  Discuss and enjoy.

I actually wish Georgia was up 21-0 right now. What if Georgia and Okie St. both win big? I would LOVE to see a #3 ranked LSU team get left out of the BCS and open up a BCS game for Michigan. 7 total yards for LSU so far.

GA gets an autobid to a BCS game, not the MNC. LSU has a good enough strength of schedule and the computers and voters like them enough that theyd most likely only drop to #2, moving Bama to #1 and the only difference in the MNC will be uniform colors.

LSU has a great defense and so does Bama.  Those 2 defenses are 2 of the best to have come around in a while.  But they don't even have decent offense.  And the Big 12 is in no way any better than the Big Ten in my opinion.  ISU isn't very good but because they stick with teams that are ranked 11 in the nation that really aren't that good either people for some reason think the Big 12 is great.

I'm angry and I'm getting old and I don't care who knows it damnit!

this Reid guy has killed the LSU secondary. If I'm not mistaken he has been out the last couple weeks and the LSU D looked a lot better without him in there. They might be better off with Mathieu at teh corner and Reid out of the game.

Even if GA and KSU wins we may still have a chance if OU loses. I'm still hoping that Michigan can still get a BCS bowl game.  I may have to start rooting for LSU.

Despite Georgia's best efforts they still have a 10-point lead against LSU. Jarret Lee is the savior of Michigan football for the day. it appears. When's he gonna get action?

This is what you get when the BCS pretty much tells you that you're going to be playing in the championship game regardless of what happens in your last game.

(Tin foil hat time!) It wouldn't surprise me at all if LSU lost this game just so the SEC could get 3 teams into the BCS this year.

watching the two big 12 games...I just cant understand how the computers love this conference so much. These are all average teams I think the middle of the big 10 would eat up.

and Iowa St blows it....well I'm now resigned to the fact that it's probably the cap one or outback this year..well lets to beat an SEC team and end this season on a nice note.

There goes one of our chances.  I'm trying to find other ways if GA wins.  A OU loss should put MIchigan in at 14?  Though you never know!

The LSU defense is playing better but I'm not sure if they can score enough points to win.

There's still a chance LSU can come back and win. There's a lot football left.

LSU: 16 yards rushing, 0 yards passing, 22 yards in penalties, 0 first downs.

Surely there's a point where they can screw this up enough for voters to drop them?
