Jai Eugene was just covering Marquis Maze - why do those names sound so familiar?
Late Afternoon and Night Games Open Thread
Not sure on Maze but Eugene was the recruit that allegedly really soured the Les Miles/Lloyd Carr relationship. Eugene was an Army AA that committed to Michigan during the game. Right before or on signing day, Miles yoinked him from Michigan. Supposedly Miles made some unsavory comments about Carr in the process.
I know - was trying to be silly
BTW Maze was a UM recruit (may even have been a commit at one point).
But the Jai Eugene thingie - was where the wonderful LLoyd is sick and has to retire rumors came from.
My bad. Read it as a chance to flex my memory.
You provide a very informative update for those not aware of the Jai Euguene debacle.
Jai Eugene had also just had a child and wanted to be close to him/her. I think that was the main issue.
Thanks for this. I hate Saban and 'Bama but I want them to win just so it helps to keep the "we should've hired Miles" douche bags off the site.
That will just add more fuel to the "we should've hired Saban" fire.
Stanford is now up 9-0. 10-0 pending an XP.
OSU just punted from approximately the PSU 32. Would have been a 47 yard FG attempt. Punt was a touchback. That was a bad decision before the punt was a touchback, though.
kicker is out for the year - I think the Vest would have went for it if that was not the case.
The PSU offense looks horrible right now.
We can only hope Sweater Vest plays that conservatively against us.
away from taking a 14-0 lead into the half. They have a chance to add another score too.
The Great Weis Whale is not looking too happy on the sidelines.
Navy missed the FG
14-0 at the half.
A Notre Dame loss would really help my mood.
A OSU loss would help ease some pain too.
by Navy - 14-0 Middies at the half.
of Standford is a beast - bringing back memories of "touchdown" tommy vardell
Oregon down 10-7 but Stanford has a 1st and Goal on the Oregon 5
now up 17-7
PSU scores now 7-7
some good action going on.
backup kicker (he of the buckstache variety) just came through with a nice kick.
On the other side of the country Stanford has scored again. 24-7.
Oregon is really screwing the pooch. Must've read their press clippings all week.
a much needed TD.
Don't forget that Stanford had a buy last week and thus an extra week to prepare. I'm biased but I think Harbaugh is a heck of a coach - great game plan so far.
BUT - they need to keep scoring to beat Oregon.
down - ground can't cause a fumble -
BTN refs are soooooooooooooooooooooooooo
tOSU game: That ball hit his foot! How can that still be a touch back?
IF PSU recovers it is a TD - so how in the world is that not a safety.
In other news - Stanford scores again.
LOL Navy answers the ND touchdown with a 50yrd TD pass.
but Wake is up 17-10 on the yellow jackets
I get so frustrated watching this Ohio State offense. It feels like playing a game of Madden. The person you are playing against can't do much on offense at all, their guys are constantly covered. No matter what, they just end up tucking the ball with the QB and gaining 15 yards.
refs are trying to blow as bad as B10 refs - awful unsportsmanlike call on The Cardinal.
Jimmah really needs to learn to slide
Clausen is down and hurt
EDIT: I hope he's OK, but I'm happy for the fumble,
Evan Sharpley is still around.
Man. ND looks like its falling apart. Navy could blow it, but holy hell are they steamrolling the ND D.
I honestly think that ND fans will be more upset about this than we were about Purdue. They cannot stop Navy. I think it was Trey Wingo talking about this offense being the new "it" thing in the coming years. Maybe he was right.
IIRC ND fans were mad pissed when their 3-9 team lost to Navy in 2007.
<>IF they lose this game it is way worse than the M loss to Purdue.
fullback has about 150 yards right now.
Guy is a mack truck.
If ND pulls one of their "miracles" in this game I will lose it. It's a joke that they are still considered a BCS bowl team. I don't want that idea to continue.
I was just thinking the same thing. Right when Navy bogged down after driving it 50yds from their own 1. I don't like how this is setting up.
Is Robby Parris doing his best to look exactly like Jeff Samardzija? Or is it just me?
I think his goal is to look like a poorman's Jeff Szmaridziaalaxxx
Dude could really use some conditioner.
And he needs a tramp stamp like Jeff.
Maybe he'll put a Cubs hat on while on the sidelines
LOL! No luck of the Irish yet!
And Jimmy got a personal foul! Great stuff.
Jeeeez. Why can't teams ever close out the Irish?
is down for the Bucks.
I don't want to speculate but it looks like a knee injury.
Pac10 refs like B10 refs refuse to call holding.
It is a little ridiculous. I don't remember hearing anything about it, but I feel like the NCAA must have decided to de-emphasize holding calls this year. I don't understand why so many separate reffing crews can ignore what seem like obvious holds.
Unless it's a play on which Minor scores a touchdown.
ND has begun to just pitch it to Floyd. Maybe not the worst strategy.
looks like they should get a TD here.
Hopefully navy can step up.
Yep. I'm surprised ND didn't just pass all over Navy all day. This drive has used hardly any time off the clock.
Wait, why does ND just get an equipment timeout? Shouldn't the player have to go to the sideline in order to get his equipment repaired? I have no idea what just happened there.
5 redzone appearances and 1 TD.
That is just awful.
the real JayPa please stand up.
3rd and 5 and you run a zone read option?
That sucked, just like that punt.
Serenity now! ND still in it.
If Navy can get a few first downs they'll get the win, but If ND gets the ball back I don't see how they can stop them.
Onsides kick it here?
There's one first down. Now ND takes a TO so they'll probably have zero timeouts with less than two minutes left if they get it back.
just made a 4 yard catch.
Millen says Justin is "blocking good"
Millen talk pretty one day.
Big first down for Navy! Keep it moving.
OSU looking like they are going to win this.
They control their own destiny and I wouldn't be surprised if they knockoff an undermaned Iowa next week.
call on 3rd and short - Boo birds are justified.
Yeah. That pitch was ridiculous.
Ducks just scored a TD. down by 11 at the moment
That was a -14million dollar sack.
4th and 20 from their own 2 and Navy gets a safety.
I thought it was a free kick after a safety. How does ND get an onsides kick? Am I just totally wrong about that rule?
They don't have to do a free kick after the safety? I was unaware of that rule.
Free kick is the same as a kickoff
I thought you had to punt it though?
do a free kick - but you can do an onsides - just really tough to do - must teams punt it off rather than kicking.
So free kick is more in the sense of "freestyle" stroke from swimming? You can kick it however you want?
Tougher to do than a normal onside kick? I didn't see a difference? I know I am missing something.
kick or punt it.
And most teams practice punting it - usually you don't get safetied and need an onsider - it is just not the kind of thing you practice.
A free kick onside kick is a rather rare occurrence.
So, ND is STILL alive.
Fuck ND if they somehow win.
EDIT: Fuck them anyway. GO NAVY!
If they get two onsides kick and come back to win this game I will probably throw up out of disgust.
Navy gets the second onside kick. I can sleep now.
and lose to Na-vy!!!
has gone my way Today.
Thank you middies!!!
Bye bye BCS!
looks like they are gonna win this w/o question.
They could be back in the BCS (again).
now comparing Pryor to VY.
I just pray he doesn't go all VY on us.
Why did Michigan not get in on Mark Ingram when he was being recruited? Thank god he didn't go to Sparty.
Ingraham's dad was a Bammer alum - and that him going there was a done deal.
In other news my FSN just changed to blue jackets hockey instead of the 4th Q of Stanford/Oregon. Thanks!
Thanks. Kid is an absolute beast.
like he dragged the toe - should be a first down for LSU
Agreed. I just wish Danielson would stop saying he saw dirt.
That shoulda been an INT.
course the call goes the other way.
This may be the worst officiated day EVAR.
Just do away with replay please if the results are gonna be garbage.
That call may have ended LSU's day. I know the teams have to go out and execute still, but it's hard when you execute and you still don't get the correct result.
How is that not a pick? I swear, the refs are as bad as I have ever seen this year. More often than not I hear the announcers saying, "oh, well it's obviously this", and then the refs come out and say "the opposite of the obvious is true".
Oregon's making it interesting 41-48
OU with a lame onsides kick. Stanford recovers. 2:37 left.
I wish I could see the end of Oregon/Stanford but my FSN affiliate sucks.
That girl with the letter W on her front is well endowed. No sugarcoat.
3 and 5, 1:03 left.
Oregon has no timeouts, Ball on the Oregon 34
Oregon stops Stanford for no gain. 4th and 3, 15 sec left. Not much hope for Ducks
Long Stanford FG is good. 51-42
kent in hardcore mac action
Pac10 football defense is optional.
