Last night sucked but...
So last night I was as pissed as everyone else on the board, started a "I cannot believe RR did that post" (like everyone else), and then did not go to bed until after 2 when I had finally settled down.
Today I have been thinking about it, and the fact is there were some positives form last night.
1) Woolfolk actually did OK at CB, and good thing now that Cissoko has been suspended.
2) Graham looks like a Top 20 draft pick, he has been incredible both at rushing the passer and stopping the run.
3) The OL handled the best DL in the Big Ten, and we were able to rush the ball at will.
4) It still came down to the last drive despite an overwhelming effort to find ways to turn the ball over.
There was a lot of "what ifs" from last night, and while I think our overreaction was justified at the time let us remember that we can get our 5th win against Delaware State this weekend. We then get a chance to take down Penn State at home the following weekend. I do not know about you, but I would have taken 4-2 right now if you asked me at the beginning of the year. If we move to 6-2 I will be overjoyed.
Plus I have to add this, has there been a more exciting 4-2 start to any season in recent memory???

I wouldn't say it's a good thing for a player to get suspended, but it is good that woolfolk did well yesterday.

OP wasn't saying it's good that Boo got suspended. He's saying that it's good that Woolfolk played well because we would be hurting at corner if he hadn't stepped up.

It looks like we have our number 2 corner in woolfolk. Would Cissoko or Floyd project well to safety?

I can see Boo projecting decently at safety, but I think his bread 'n butter position will always be a press-coverage corner.
I think he's got the speed to play safety and he can certainly be physical, but obviously other factors are holding him back.

Cissoko is very small. I can't imagine that he would be big enough or physical enough to provide solid run support as a safety

i think we are doing really well this year.....if you think of it we have lost 2 games by just 8pts....i mean yes that sucks but we were the underdog in both and almost pulled them both out with a W

what about our safety position? Yes Woolfolk did a nice job at corner and it seems he will stay there but williams didnt do all that well playing out in center field. It does seem that our defense is getting better week to week without a doubt. Were fixing the holes in our defense but I feel as if we close one hole theres another to follow...

I think/hope that Williams will improve with more game experience. Remember he missed half the games due to injury.

Game by game there is progress. Last night we saw the offensive line (w/o Molk) acquit themselves very well against a highly regarded defense. The defense (save for a few plays) improved. The freshman QBs got another taste of pressure on the road and their first experience feeling the effects of cold weather. It is safe to assume we will see more "competition" for the punt return job and maybe some other depth chart shuffles as well. Del State couldn't come at a better time.
