And so we will not meet them in regular conference play for the foreseeable future.  We might see them when and if another, seventh, Conference game is added to the schedule.  Which will happen, uh, whenever.  Or we could meet them in a Big Ten Championship (which won't ever be played in Bloomington) when IU claims its divisional football title over OSU, PSU, Wisconsin, Illinois, or Purdue.  Which will happen, uh, never.

That's going to be a big change, though.  Right now we play OSU and MSU every year and everyone else, on average, 75% of the time (it's not exact - we've played PSU 87.5% of the time).  To go from that to 40% for five schools is a big transition.  Those five schools will come to Ann Arbor twice a decade.

If they would have just gone with straight geography for the divsions, there would have been no need for protected cross-divisional games.  Then we could have played the other divisional teams 50% of the time.

To the poster who said that he didn't want Dee Hart becase he was just like Mike Hart, see the portions at 0:13, 0:48 and 0:55.

Oh, and also, Chad Henne throws one of the prettiest deap balls I have seen, David Harris hits so hard that my eyes hurt just from watching him crush fools, and Steve Breaston really was black Jesus on returns.

This is not a criticism of Stonum, who I think is an awesome receiver and decent to good return man, but there is no comparison between Stonum and Breaston.  With Breaston, there was always the feeling that he would either break one for a TD or at least have an exciting 20-30 yard run.  No, this did not happen on every return, but it happened pretty damn frequently.  With Stonum, long returns are the exception, not the norm.

Again, not saying that Stonum is not a decent return guy, but Breason was better.  No debate possible.

Don't remind me of the year of infinite let-down.  Antonio Bass blowing out his knee.  Having Bo die.  Having climbed to #2 to lose to OSU.  To being leap-frogged by Florida, and then losing to USC in a very non-compettitive game after halftime.  Sigh.  Funny how I prefer Lloyd's last year where we lost some unthinkable games compared to our 2006 compaign.

John U. Bacon tells a great story about this game. As we all know now, this was the last Michigan football game Bo Schembechler ever watched. His son Shemy is a pro scout for the Washington Redskins and had been scouting someone up at MSU. On his way down to Ann Arbor, he called his father and they decided to watch the game together (Shemy, along with most of the people who knew Bo really well, could see that the old coach wasn't doing too well). Bo convinced Shemy to pick up some meat lovers pizzas so they could eat while they watched the game on TV.

When he was coaching, Bo had a standing rule--if you intercept a pass in the end zone, immediately take a knee. Bo was paranoid that the return wouldn't get to the 20 yard line or that the returner would fumble the ball back to the other team. To ensure the offense would get the ball back, he always had his players take a knee.

So Bo and Shemy are watching Michigan maul Indiana, and just before halftime, Morgan Trent picks off a pass in the end zone. As you can see in the video, he kind of looks around for a seam to see if he can return the INT. At this moment, Bo screamed "TAKE A KNEE DAMMIT!!!" and threw his hands up in the air. Shemy watched in slow-motion as the entire meat lovers pizza that had been sitting in Bo's lap flew up in the air, flipped over, and landed face-down on the brand-new carpet in Bo's living room. Bo merely turned to his son and said "You see that, son? THAT'S how a Michigan Man takes a knee!"

only Michigan game since I have been alive and alert that I can honestly say I don't remember.  Not even the hightlghts, it just does not ring any bells at all.  And that has to be 2006, and I watched every play of every game that season.  Perhaps I was very drunk.

Before watching this clip I thought to myself "Is this the game Breaston had like 250 all-purpose yards?" Looks like it. It's just too bad that season had to end the way it did with Bo dying (RIP) and the loss to OSU.

Indiana in football.  It just always seemed kind of pointless.  Only maybe 2 times in my life have they been reasonably good.  Not a very historical matchup, other than Wangler to Carter, what other game or play does anyone remember vs Indiana?

The weird thing is, if the crossover games fall right(or wrong) this could be our 1 trip to Indiana in 10 years

We're going to play our five divisional opponents and OSU every year, so that leaves two games against the other five cross-divisional opponents - so they should theoretically be on our schedule 40% of the time.  (Though I have a hunch that the league will sneak PSU on there more than that, just as they've played us 15 times in 17 seasons.)

don't play them the next two years and potentially not the two years after that, which will happen for 1 of the other 5 teams in that division, it is possible we don't see Indiana again until 2015 and if we happen to host them that year, we'd travel to IU in 2016.  Thats 1 game at IU since 2006.

I was at that game too.  Marquise Walker blocked the punt and ran it in for the score.

That was Antwan Randle-El's last season at IU.  The Hoosiers actually had a great offense that year scoring an average of 34 points a game.  We had a very young and well, pretty much a bad defense other than Larry Foote.

It was 45-0 at halftime. Total domination on both sides of the ball.

The 2000 defense was very young and they made me want to pull my hair out.  But it all depended on where the game was at.  They were dominant at home and awful on the road.

At home, they gave up, 7 points, 7 points, 10 points, 0 points, 0 points and 11 points.

Away games, they gave up 27 points, 31 points, 32 points, 51 points and 26 points.

Wow. I really miss seeing good defensive football like that.

We only gave up 207 points that year (in 13 games), which was our lowest total of the decade. By contrast, we gave up 330 in 2009 and 347 in 2008 (in just 12 games both years).

Watching our '06 offense in those highlights ... I don't know, it feels like our offense of today has the chance to be in another galaxy compared that.  I mean, I love Mike Hart with all my heart (LOLZ), but after watching Denard, Shaw, Stonum, et. al. over the past 4 weeks, I felt like I was watching somebody run in slow motion.  Kind of makes me feel good about where this offense is heading.

Now if only we could remember how to do that whole defense thing...

after 4 games of 2010 highlights, the '06 highlights almost seem in slow motion. That offense had only scored 21 points by halftime; I'm expecting our offense to put up 30+ by halftime. I might be wearing my maize colored shades with that prediction, but it's straight fact that this offense is just starting to take off.
