Las Vegas Bowl Open Thread

MAACO to your friends.  Shouldn't be close, but the same thing could be said last night. We'll see if it looks like we should be wishing we were playing Boise as much as it looked like TCU wasn't so tough last night (or more likely, just really didn't want to be there). Does Boise want to play? We shall see.

The bigger question will be if the Boise defense shows up. I doubt that Moore will fail to show up for his last game in a Boise uniform. And there is always that kicker to worry about. I know a lot of people on here don't like Boise, but I have been a fan of them (and Fresno and TCU) for a while now and I have really enjoyed watching Kellen Moore play. Neither of their losses the last two years can be put on him. I would have loved a shot at Boise in the Sugar, but it will be fun to watch them play a dangerous but undisciplined Arizona State team.

Boise will show up, they'll add this to all of their other lame attempts to prove they should play for the BCS title without strengthening their schedule any

Yes, that's why they're going to whatever more-respected conference will take them, moving up to MWC first and now to the Big East. Just like they're willing to schedule Oregon, VT, and Georgia, without requiring a return game back in Boise. And generally dominating in those games. It's pretty clear BSU wants nothing other than to claim its conference is the best and then play Div-III schools for its non-conference games, like the AQ schools do. So lame.

Herbstreit and Fowler (my sheet said Musburger, WTF?) get this one. Tom Rinaldi will be hanging out on the sidelines.

This should be interesting - in all honesty, Boise was the opponent I would have rather had from a competition standpoint for our bowl, but we'll see, eh?

Be interesting to see how Arizona State responds to Erickson being let go. Do they put things together for the one last hurrah for the old coach or do they fold up and play uninspired?

Why is the #7 team in the country playing an unranked team that had such a great season that they fired their coach? I like ASU, but they went 6-6 with a losing conference record, this is a pretty obvious mismatch. They could have broken up one of the numerous annual B1G/SEC bowls and had a Boise-Georgia rematch. That would be an interesting Bowl Game.

Am I the only one who finds the Best Buy commercials amusing given that they announced today that they can't fill many online orders dating back to Thanksgiving before Christmas?

I think Boise goes out there with a chip on their shoulder.  Boise should have been in the Sugar Bowl.  They've won every big game in the last decade.  BSU has done everything asked of them -- despite Lou Holtz and Mark May continuing talking shit about them.  I hope they hang a 100 on em tonite.

Yes, because the Big East champ (and sometimes the ACC as well) is easily superior to Boise. Not saying they should get an auto-bid, but let's not act like they are a bad team.

I have a question. Is the spinning ESPN logo after replays new, or did I just not notice that all year?

Osweiler can hit him all  day....

...and the center snaps to Tacopants too! Can you beat  yourself in all three phases?

EDIT: Burfict looks like he'll have the equipment guy in a sleeper hold if he doesn't get some playing time PDQ...

Is this something the teach just at ASU? It doesn't work all that well.

EDIT: Burfict went Burfict. 21-0 Boise State, and ASU will likely get shit for field position on their next three and out.

Excellent program, excellent team, not a lot of high-ranking recruits. I agree they shouldn't be in the NC game, but should be in something bigger than this. Would have loved to see us against them in the Sugar, would have been a great matchup.

Agreed that mid-majors should not have auto-bids, but really when they look at the Big East they have to wonder. Anyway, moot now as of next year they are the Big East.

My question for them would be why wouldn't they court entry into the Big 12? Unless they'd be outright rejected (by a conference with Kansas?), then it looks like a fear-of-competition thing.

But say what you want, they are a fun team to watch and are making PAC 12 ASU look like the trash they are.

Meanwhile, ASU is actually showing that they have something akin to an offense here...we'll see where it goes, eh?

EDIT: Wow, 28-3 Boise State. Anyone else ready to call this one?

I really don't understand why the Big XII didn't grab Boise instead of West Virginia. Grab TCU and Boise and it makes up for Colorado and Mizzou easily. I actually go the other way and believe that the Big XII didn't want to invite them. That would mean playing at Boise, which no one will do.

A field goal Sparky? Just six more of those...
