Every thread until new coach is hired can be summarized like this

  1. Larry Foote (or any generic source) says Harbaugh is a good chance = hundreds of posts saying Larry Foote (or any generic source) must know, this is a good sign, is a genius, has great sources, and we got this.
  2. Larry Foote (or any generic source) says Harbaugh is a low to zero chance = hundreds of posts saying Larry Foote (or any generic source) is out of touch, has no sources, doesnt know what he is talking about, and is 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon separated from the football program anyhow.

True, though I doubt Harbaugh and Foote have ever really talked at all so this notion that Foote doesnt really know is probably true.  Hes just using the precedence that no successful NFL coach has ever gone back to college in the prime of their careers as his reasoning, which isnt much reasoning at all.

anything about what Harbaugh wants or thinks.   I like his assessment of the players though, thought that was spot on.  Harbaugh has always gone to his own beat.  And that beat may have him steppin'  into AA.

Guy on street: See where it say "rib tip."

Hoke: Rib tip.

Guy on street: But f^@& that, you don't wanna go that way.

Nuss: I wonder if these guys know the Commodores.

Guy on street: You gonna go all the way down about half a block and you'll see a Torino with no wheels on it. Now inside that Torino is my cousin Jack, now you tell him you're my boy and you're looking for recruits and he'll make sure you get to where you're goin cause you don't want to know from me man, this ain't even my neighborhood.

I have a hard time with this thinking.  Seems I've seen plenty of hockey players and swimmers come from middle, or better, class families and do very well.

I've also seen people who probably ARE trust fund babies do well in business.  So screw all the pre-conceived notions; it's all about the individual.  The problem with this football program is the coaching.

He's right we are soft. A lot of players do seem to be content with just being at michigan. Coaches are only half of development of players. They can't make kids do all the extra work to be great. When we have guys like green coming in overweight and Funches's saying wins don't matter. It shows some of them are soft.
The Harbaugh matter is just his opinion.

We are definitely a soft football team. I dont think we need "hood" players or we recruit too many "trust fund babies", but the notion that our players are soft is 100% accurate, in my opinion. I think we need to recruit differently, but that doesnt mean they have to be of a certain skin color or socioeconomic background, I just want guys who will leave everything they have on the field every saturday.

Whether they're from the hood or not, we need fast and physical players.  We then need those players coached up to maximize their talent, and an offensive and defensive scheme that plays to their strengths and minimizes their weaknesses.  If they have great character coming in, it's a bonus.  If not, you teach them right from wrong and hold them to your high expectations.

If we listen to Larry Foote and recruit based solely on his criteria, Jayru Campbell will be our starting quarterback next year while making Winston-style headlines, and the whoever the coach is will be telling us what a great kid and leader he is.

Teams take on the personality of their coach, plain and simple.  All of these guys are competitive and strive to do what is demanded of them.  Hoke just has a low bar.

to have the f'n floor. I wouldn't want Stringer on my football team, he was way too soft. I would have go to with Avon Barksdale, Bodie Broadus, and Slim Charles. They would all go hard for Michigan!

When you win people say you're tough.  When you lose they say you aren't.

We all know Gardner played w/ a broken toe against OSU last year.  Was he tough for that, or not tough because we lost that game?

Most of this is rubbish and implying  "only inner city black kids are tough"  is offensive.

Here are the people who do NOT know who the next coach will be:

1. The next coach

2. The next AD

3. The interim AD

4. The President

5. The Regents

6. The fans

(really the list only needs #1).

Therefore, here are the people who MIGHT know who the next coach will be:

1. God [or other omniscient being/force]

2. Marty McFly

3. Doc Brown

4. Dr. Who

So, I would love Jim Harbaugh here. He would do a great job. Personally, I want to avoid the shit show that would come every January of NFL teams beating down our doors.

I really don't think he's coming here. If I wrong, I'll eat a lemon and a lime.

So, Millionaires are starting a class warfare with trust fund babies?  Which one is more entitled?

Man, I feel bad for Foote's kids....if he avoids the pitfalls of NFL players and money...his best hope is for them to be "trust fund babaies."  In that case, he will probably spit in their face and call them soft.

Who on the team are trust fund babies?  How do those numbers compare to previous years?

Devin Gardner?

James Ross III?

Jourdan Lewis?

Kyle Kalis?

Brian Mone?

Which of the guys on the team can I get a lone from?

The only way Michigan can retain Hoke is giving him an extension since AFAIK next would be Hoke's last year, if they don't do that no recruit will want to come to Michigan to play for a coach whose contract is about to end and hasn't been renewed, specially after all the chatter about ousting Hoke this season, so either Michigan gets a new coach or get stuck with Hoke for 2 or 3 more years...

Not sure where this idea came from, or why so many here have that opinion, other than Brian cook mentioned it at some point. There isnt much truth to it. Lloyd coached here without a contract forever. No one questioned he wouldn't be back. While this situation is a bit different, recruits will know based on a strong finish this year and good start next year that Brady will be around for the long haul. The real reason isn't the existence or lack of an extension, it's that the stars are arguably aligning for harbaugh to get the job. By most accounts he's done in sf this year. If that's true, this may be the only year where the possibility of harbaugh makes sense. Next year he will have a new job, and won't be looking to jump ship after a year. Remember too there is some disagreement about whether harbaugh was ever looked at after Rodriguez. It's entirely possible that Brandon didnt want someone around the program with a bigger ego than his. And that doesnt take into account Brandon's feelings regarding harbaugh's comments about football players being encouraged to make specific academic choices. It just might work out this time

In the world of sports today, a coach in the final year of his contract is a disaster waiting to happen. And comparing Hoke to Carr is a little bit ridiculous, don't you think? Carr won a national championship in his third season, raised our all-time-best winning percentage, and had zero scandals during his time at Michigan. Of course someone like that could get by without signing long-term extensions. Hoke has had worse and worse performances every year of his coaching tenure and has 1 win only against Ohio State and Michigan State.

Napoleon decided to invade Russia.

I really see no benefit to keeping Hoke. His recruiting is dead, his offense is inept, and his supposed strength-defense--is as adept at preventing good offenses from scoring as a nun is in promoting abstinence in a whorehouse.

Well, as jack Kennedy says, lets see what happens before we start calling for heads or concluding that there are only two coaches who can lead michigan next year. If Brady wins out, he's probably not going anywhere. Even if harbaugh wants the job. At the same time, if we don't beat Ohio, or play them very competitively after beating Maryland the writing is in the wall, regardless of whether harbaugh is coming.

I think the Trust Fund Babies Comment is Absolutely Hilarious.  And from what I remember Foote has always kinda liked To Talk.  Which is fine with me.

And Im a White Guy--  a Fifty-Something White Guy.

That all being said--  for me there is No Doubt that Pepeprs IS-WAS The MAN, with regard to the Emerging Mch-D.  The injury of course--  is Beyond Belief.

Ive opined too that WERE DB-Peppers playing this year against Spread-Os, as a SPY v-QBs, as Fire-Leader on DB-FireSchemes, open-field 1st Contact Tackles, etc etc

--  the actual TEAM record might be The SAME.  And this is because of the Nuss-O.

Peppers--  NEEDS to be here NY, with Mattison-DC.  To--  in effect, Do a Do-Over
