Lane Kiffin as Seen by Sally Jenkins - Scathing Indictment
I read a very good piece by Sally Jenkins, a Washington Post sportswriter. The piece is a scathing indictment of Kiffin and and the BCS. It makes me question, again, why this guy is such a hot hire.

has some superb columnists. Sally Jenkins, Mike Wise, Thom Boswell, even the PTI twosome. I walk outside and pick it up in the driveway each Sunday morning. Well worth the cost.

Of the second generation sports journalists out there, Jenkins is one of the few who could have gotten her job without her last name. On a side note, there is no word whether Jon Gruden is suing the Post or Jenkins for gimmick infringement.

at the avaricious culture of the BCS is so refreshing. I frankly would rather lose with RR than win with the likes of Kiffin; of course, I don't have much say in the matter.

I don't have any sympathy for the UT administrators. They were the ones who hired Kiffin in the first place, even when it was obvious to a halfway-intelligent 10-yr old that Kiffin is a tool.

So in other words, he's a pimp.

the fact that she gets after the athletic directors most of all. Yes, fans want to win, but most Michigan fans I know are happy to have a clean program first. The wins will come eventually. (I'm not saying M is spotless, but if the worst we're doing is asking our players to work harder, well...)
I think MOST football fans anywhere feel that way.

I, too, am truly amazed at how Kiffin was able to get U Tennessee to sign such a one sided contract. What is with this guy? He has shown virtually nothing, except moxie and an ability to recruit, throughout his rather abbreviated career. Yet, the jobs keep getting better and better.
Sally Jenkins calls it like it is.

His academic credentials consist of a bachelor's degree in leisure service management from Fresno State in 1998.
