Lance Thompson as a potential linebackers coach?

Submitted by DamnYankee on
Saw this in some of the press down here. A brief synopsis: Lance Thompson was the linebackers coach at Alabama under Saban and also handled a lot of the recruiting (Julio Jones, etc). He left to join Tennessee's staff for the chance to work under Monte Kiffin. Currently, he is out of a job. Any thoughts? Saban - Defense - Recruiting - check, check, check. Sign, seal, and deliver this mofo. I had a feeling RR would have a good lot to pick from with all this coaching firing/hiring fiasco going on right now.

I live in Knoxville and hear alot of UT sports coverage everyday. I hope we can get this guy. He is a monster recruiter. I hope he is a good position coach, but his rep is that he is an uber-level recruiter. I really hope we can land Lance Thompson.

But he would definitely be a good hire. Has some great credentials and if we can get someone to further recruit the south it doesn't hurt. Between signing day and the coaching search plenty of surprises in store I think.

I think WOTS is that Mark Synder will most likely be our LB coach. Not certain, but that's what I've read on several sites. Still plenty of possibilities, but we'll see what happens. Hopefully resolved by no later than end of this week.

(Football scoop) and (rivals) are hearing South Florida co-defenisve coordinator / linebackers coach David Blackwell is a candidate to fill the Michigan linebackers job. I don't think Thompson will go big ten as he is from the southern area. Would love to see Corwin Brown come and split backers DC title with Greg R.
