Lacrosse Team One Open Thread v. Ohio State.

Big things ahead.  We're like the people that got to watch the first Michigan football team . . . "What is this odd yet interesting sport, 'ole chap?"

For people who aren't as familiar with the game. If the ball is down you are allowed to body up the other players, it's not interference.

Pleased with what I saw today despite the loss.  Good clearing game, much improved from previous games, respectable defense, good faceoff play, solid goalkeeping.  We really could use some playmakers.  We don't have too many guys that can break down a defense consistently.  A few more breaks our way and that could've been a win, but we hit a lot of posts.

I agree- I was at the game watching it up close.  We needed to be more aggressive offensively.  Acutally, we had a few guys who could get a step on Ohio defenders, but once we drew the slide we got a bit timid and didn't move the ball fast enough.  Ohio definitely had one very weak defensive midfielder who Michigan repeatedly picked on, which was a good strategy.  Ohio's overall team D was very good.  But I would have liked to see more dodges from our attack.

I don't think we have the talent right now to be more aggressive.  I wish I could say this without coming off the wrong way, but I'm used to watching lacrosse played at a higher level than that.  Most of what you see on TV is ESPN broadcasting ACC games, Hopkins, Syracuse, Cornell, etc. and there's a clear difference in the passing and ballhandling.  I thought we had a number of turnovers that wouldn't have happened to better teams.

And best of luck to the Michigan team the rest of the way.

But those maize unis are probably the worst-looking thing I have ever seen on a Michigan team.  Nauseating.

A great showing as usual by Michigan. Great effort, they never quit.

Really awesome that someday I can tell my kids that I was at the first game in rivalry history and was at the first Battle at The Big House.

I heard penn state is most likely going to be the opponent next year.
