Lacrosse falls 15-6 against air force

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Michigan fell to 0-4 on the season this afternoon as they lost to air force 15-6, in Denver in a neutral site game. Michigan started the game on a 3-0 tear but air force went on a rampage scoring NINE unanswered goals which ultimately proved to be too much for Team One.

Michigan will travel next weekend to Jacksonville,FL and face two fellow upstart programs. They will play the jacksonville dolphins who are having a pretty good season so far which includes a blowout win over navy last weekend. Michigan will play them at 3:30pm on Friday, March 2nd.

On Sunday, in arguably the most winnable game on the schedule for Michigan. Team One will take on mercer in Jacksonville in neutral site game at 1pm on Sunday, March 4th at Noon. mercer is in search of their first win this season.

air force responds shortly after. 1-1

EDIT: Apparently the live stats made an error. air force did not score.

LiveStats seem to work pretty well for softball (probably baseball too, but I don't know firsthand) and then are varying degrees of bad for most other sports. Hockey or lacrosse doesn't strike me as the easiest thing for a guy in the pressbox to update on those laptops.

Michigan stops the bleeding and has scored two unanswered goals of their own.

Halftime score: Michigan 5  air force 9

This is somewhat unexpected.  Yesterday went the way everyone thought it would.  But I thought Michigan would be a little closer, if not winning in this one.  This is a bit frustrating.

Michigan is basically still a club team playing at the D1 level.  I know we show signs of improvement every game, but the fact remains the talent level between us and other teams will be too great to overcome for the majority of the season.

weas,

Laxpower is good for more recent commitiments, but doesn't have any details and doesn't track younger commits.

You left out the best Michigan lacrosse recruiting site out there!  Greatlaxstate which is run by Mgoblog's very own former blogger extraordinaire, Tim.  He was in Denver for the games and was posting live updates and has stories up.

Also, for lacrosse recruiting news check out sites like...

Inside Lacrosse

ESPN Rise

Laxlessons

PhillyLacrosse.com

BaltimoreLacrosseNews.com

WestsideLax

Those sites all track recruits and high school lacrosse, and a couple of them do the top recruit lists we're all accostomed to for the major sports.

Michigan is doing really well in recruiting so far, as expected.  They will get competitive as their talent catches up to the teams they are playing now.

Thanks for all the updates.  Wish it could have been better news.  What a weird game.  Michigan goes up 3-0, then lets up 9 unanswered goals and never got back into it.  Weird.  Maybe they can get that elusive first W next week - Go Blue!

It seems like Michigan can run with these teams until their mental lapse, that allows their opponents to go on a big run.  Against UDM, PSU and AF, Michigan was competitive and even had early leads.  Let's hope they can find a way to stop the bleeding and keep it close against Jax and Mercer.
