Enough is enough imo. I love that they hate OSU and all but at this point just let it go. Adding more fuel to the fire like this is unecessary and a bit juvenile, even if he is just defending a future teammate.
Kyle Bosch chimes in on LTT letter burning. ~~ "Bring a gun"
You have a point. Still, as a representative of the university, he should probably be held to higher standards. I'm not blaming him as much as I am frowning on the whole situation, but at the very least other Michigan fans shouldn't be congradulating him on this behavior.
Fuck that. I'm 28 and I still act juvenile. I don't care if he's going to U of M or not, these kids are exactly that, kids. They could be doing stuff way worse then trash talking a rival. Let the kids be kids. I still do.
Glad to see these guys are coming together and sticking up for eachother, but this whole situation is one that I wouldn't mind putting behind us. It's time to move on.
Roy Roundtree will wear the number 21 before he leaves Michigan!
Staying until the 2012 season ends.
I would prefer not to see any of our recruits mentioning guns.
[Insert the obligatory "high-profile athletes should not be on Twitter" here]
Or he doesn't care. I also read the comment as the person making the threats should bring a gun as one would need it to bring him down. I did not take away that he had a gun. It's just like someone saying to an a-hole that threatens him to bring an army because they do not fear that a-hole
I thought that as well. People will definitely be taking that the wrong way and he will probably get in a little trouble. This is becomming overblown. Everyone needs to stop being so sensitive and the thing will blow over.
hope he is referring to "guns" as body parts and not Sig Saurer's. If it is the latter, we are no better than they are. We do not need drive-bys in A2.
I encourage you to speak for yourself. He was clearly referring to the need of whoever approached him to bring a gun. "Drive bys in A2"- I don't even know what this means, so again, please speak for yourself.
"we" need drive bys in A2? Lord help "us"
Probably better if he didn't say anything like that at all, but there's nothing wrong or illegal about that statement.
I never said there was anything illegal about it.
I said I would prefer if he didn't talk about guns.
I would actually expect that Hoke and Co. will give Kyle a talk about this. Its great he is sticking up for his fellow commit, but if he just left out that last mention of fire arms 99% of fans and alum would have been fine.
I dont like the line also, but he was fired up and trying to back his teammate. These are kids and may not be as mature about the right PC things to say. I support him fully, but lets back it up on the field.
Alex at 11W is saying how bad this is and playing to the fanbase while forgetting commetns from Billy Price. Way to be fair.
For people that are complaining about the talk from our recruits, please stop following these 16 and 17 year olds. right or wrong stop following them. Its just interesting that Ohio Sate fans are not talking about their recruits and the Justin Boren Costume at Halloween.
Edit : Basically I said the same thing as Leaders and Best further down.
You never know.. Those hillbillys just might be dumb enough to do something dumb.. Lets not encourage them.
the 13 class better be able to back this talk on the field because they are definitely firing up ohio fans and players. I hope there is some actually rage behind all this talk.
It kind of fires me up.
Who cares if they fire up the fans? If they get so riled up about this that they're sending death threats I say rile them up some more. It makes them look bad and they're losing a lot more sleep over it than anyone on our side. As far as riling up the Ohio players I'm of the oft repeated opinion that no one really needs bulletin board material for this game.
I am forced to drive through ohio fairly ofter, I don't want to die.
WTF? These kids aren't toys for you to play with. If the fans are sending them death threats, then you want them riled up more? So our recruits can get threatened with death more? Or so they can be verbally and physically assaulted?
Get a grip, man. It's a sport. It's supposed to be fun.
Huh? I read my post again and fail to see how I suggested they are toys for me to play with... I'm saying the fans don't affect what happens on the field, so who cares if they get riled. It just makes their lives more miserable. A death threat over twitter is not that frightening to me, and it seems it's not that frightening to Bosch either.
When Kentucky sex offenders are showing up at your front door with weapons, you will change your mind.
It means these kids have feelings. They're not inanimate objects. Nobody wants to be subjected to death threats. So suggesting that OSU fans should be riled up more, and thus make more threats, is rather insensitive.
Saying that a 17-year-old commit to Michigan receiving death threats "just makes [OSU fans'] lives more miserable" is a completely moronic statement. If you can't see why, that's a problem.
I know that there are a lot of Ohio fans who are over 250 pounds. I still find it hard for them to do damage to a future B1G lineman.
/don't comment on gun usage. That's really just, stupid/scary<--take your pick.
This is taking it to an unnecessary level IMO.
I think this is starting to get out of hand. Stop talking and wait til you're on the field guys.
this is by far (incoming class + next years class) the loudest, mouthiest bunch of recruits i can remember. maybe its the social media, but im beginning to wish id hear less about this stuff.
not saying its their direct fault, but i would rather hear the seniors talk and the freshmen shut up, sit down, and get to work.
Kids like Roh, Campbell, Lewan, Denard, need to give these kids reality checks when they come in. You havent done anything to talk about beating Ohio State yet.
Eh, I would not be surprised to see / hear Hoke talk to Bosch and the others about toning it down a bit. Look at Frank Clark (if I remember the player correctly), he was making inappropriate comments on Twitter, etc. and Hoke supposedly talked to him.
You are correct about it being Clark.
I think just the opposite. Right now they're still just high schoolers and have not put winged helmet. Now's the time to say silly things. I would much more bothered by a current player saying this stuff. The coaching staff and current players have been nothing but respectful yet intense. I'm sure by the time they get on campus, they'll get set straight. Haven't heard a word from Kalis or Pipkins.
So, tell me, "JimBobTressel," did you want Terrelle Pryor to "shut up" after he committed to Ohio? Didn't think so.
not even sure what this means
Lets hope they Shock the world as well.
If I was you, I'd perfer they win something.
This is a perfect example of trolling a rival blog. If you want to be treated with respect around here, don't act like a fucking asshole. Or just go to your own blog.
Come on, that's funny right there. I don't ever troll anything that doesn't deserve it. Look at my comments, most would back me up. It's only the fringe of your fanbase I like to poke at. Most Michigan fans here/everywhere are sensible and able to engage in relevant football banter, however, some are morons and deserve to be mocked. You and I both know that.
If you want to talk about a fanbase that are morans and need to be mocked, how about you start with something closer to home. Thank you.
I don't really have anything useful to add, I just wanted to point out the esteemed gentleman from Columbus's use of the word "perfer." Just because that's how y'all pronounce it, doesn't mean that's how it's spelled.
Haha a typo? You know the "e" and "r" keys are right next to each other, and also the size of a grain of rice? It happens. #sorrynotsorry
When did I ever say Ohio State didn't have morons in its fanbase?
Never said you did. Just let's clean our own houses first before cleaning others. You can start by going to 11w and asking why the fanbase hasn't said anything about the threats. Everyone is harping on Kyle and while I agree, there is more to be said there. You can start with Alex
I agree with all above. It is awesome to see the commits sticking up for each other, but this may be taking it a bit far. Magnus hit it on the head, mentioning guns in a sense like this, is taking it over the top. Just let it go and move on. Haters gonna hate.
I think what Bosch doesn't understand is that if these crazed fans find out His address, they potentially would bring a gun. That would escalate and have an outcome no one wants. Student athletes need to be careful with social media.
...has been comically terrible. I just thought I'd mention that.
Haven't watched any of it; have they discussed how aliens influenced the feud yet?
I sure hope they do. They might as well take this thing completely over the top.
glad I'm not the only one whos been thinking this...
I've been quite enjoying it. Dunno how historically accurate, but entertaining nonetheless.
We aren't hearing a peep from last year's class because the recruiting attention is gone and they know they are about to get their asses kicked by guys on their own team.....By the time the 2013 recruits play an actual game whatever is said now will be blown over (except for maybe a certain Kalis quote).
Going a little overboard now. Lets just focus on kicking their ass on the field boys
ew, the freePOS... gross.
Just shutup and play, I sorta hate recruiting now-a-days.
Your hate is a bit ironic given your avatar.
Delivery has nothing to do with the delivery business.
Guys, it's a metaphor. And I hope he metaphororically shoots Ohio State in the dick.
Guns kill. Just sayin'.
Not metaphoric guns. And maybe not even real ones if you get shot in the dick.
This one made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that, Wolvin.
Where is the metaphor?
Gun = army of Columbus cronies = ADULTS sending threats to a 17 year old = ...
Seriously? Does it need to be explained any further that he used a figure of speech in a situation in which people overreacted by sending threats because of the harmless action of a 17 year old kid?
Actually, I'm pretty sure guns don't kill people. Lamar Woodley kills people.
The media is overblowing it, not really the kids themselves.
Well it's settled then, we know he's a badass. It would have been a really dumb statement had it come from an MSU or OSU recruit, but when he says it it's just gritty.
Not a fan of this. It's pointless and no good can come from it.
I think middle schoolers should have a mandatory core class on social media etiquette. Glad I wasn't a teenager with all of this social media crap.
I think this whole thing is going a little overboard.
Also, I certainly wouldn't be challenging the crazies in Ohio to bring a gun.
Let the final score talk after you beat their ass on the field.
Its all fun and games until someone shows up on his doorstep with a gun. We've now got people running around eating other people's faces, how far fetched is it to think that a crazed Ohio fan would take Bosch's words to heart? People have overreacted to less. Like Magnus implied above, there's no reason to bring a gun to a knife fight, so to speak.
Also, stop reading the Free Press.
Not sure what's sadder, the continued social media posturing of these kids, or the fact that all of us full grown adults and professional media types are giving it so much attention and hype.
The second one. By lots.
I've mentioned it before; we are going to need a Twitter Controversy Catalogue System.
This one gets denoted:
NCAF = NCAA football
umich = University of Michigan
12 = 2012
5 = May
30 = Day
Bosch = player
3 = This is a special qualifier, denoting the "Twitter controversy quality." This one is a "Triple Twitter controversy." Wherein Logan Tuley-Tillman Tweeted a controversial photograph (Single Twitter controversy), subsequent "death threats" were communicated electronically (Double Twitter controversy) and then the resultant #bringagun hashtag appended to a Kyle Bosch Tweet (Triple Twitter controversy).
So things like these become a lot easier to reference:
I know a guy whose mom shot his cheating stepdad in the dick with a nonmetaphorical gun. It didn't kill him, but he sure does limp a lot now.
Damn. Cheating is bad, but I don't think it warrants a non metaphorical dick shot.
He limps a lot, or it limps a lot?
This just feels dumb all around. Kids shouldn't be tweeting about bringing guns (even in jest), and the media shouldn't be talking it up so much. Everyone looks like idiots in this whole debacle.
Immature tough talk.
But I've never seen so many grown men freak out over the use of a 3 letter word (in a harmless context no less).
I know I always freak out if I think about getting shot in the dik with any type of gun, metaphorical or not.
This needs to be done with yesterday, but the predictable sanctimony from 11w over this was lawl-worthy.
Yeah, yeah, Bosch should rein it in. He's a 17 year old kid; the Big Lots Buckeyes are in their 30's and typing in death threats with one hand while the other hand pleasures themselves to Casey Anthony pics from the sanctity of their parents' basement.
Yeah, yeah, OSU recruits aren't getting into Twitter slapfights. That's because (knock on wood) Wal-Mart Wolverines at least have the grace to not send them death threats online.
My favorite part of the 11W conversation is how they keep saying Hoke needs to control his players - players who are not yet on campus and who he can't (by rule) speak to whenever he wants. Meanwhile, let's take a look at Ohio's last two coaches:
Tressel: Clearly didn't control his players who were getting free cars, tattoos, and selling stuff they received from the football program.
Meyer: Clearly didn't control his players down in Florida when they were getting arrested at an alarming rate.
Meanwhile, each of those coaches had problems with players who were on campus who the coach could call into his office at any time. Great reasoning dumbasses.
By the way, Alex at 11W needs to be smarter - taking shots at another school's recruits is not okay. Look at how people who cover Michigan recruiting handle kids no matter where they are committed to. He's a joke.
Personally... I love it... Standing up for one another is great... and the bring a whole fuckin army attitude is great. The games are meaningful enough but I love the extra fuel to the fire!
I generally agree, but at a certain point it just gets too inflammatory.
On the count of 3, everyone freak out and scream like a small child.
This could be the most inane story ever.
I'm not sure the Justin Boren Halloween costume as Rich Rodriguez got as much play as this. The Billy Price comments trashing Michigan during an unofficial visit for the Game didn't make this many waves. Please let's let this story die.
Can you also recall what you called Hoke when he was recruiting OSU verbals Dunn and Kalis last year? "Poaching" recruits is not the issue.
The whole time, not just after their commitments.
but we were in the death spiral that was the 3-3-5 defense so no really noticed
Love the attitude, but let's just keep it trapped until we hit the field.
Would love to get the focus back on Team 133.
The mention of a gun is never a good idea, especially when talking about batshit crazy ohio fans. On the other hand I have no problem with this young man standing up for his future teammate. Also, when you hashtag #bringagun I think it really means "I'm a Ginormous Man-child who will rip your face off if you fuck with my teammate and if you don't #bringagun I will most likely break you in two" sincerely Kyle
Team 134 will do major damage in the Big Ten. Go Blue!
Excerpts from the article
On the comment: "I'm just trying to defend my teammate and my friend. Logan is like a brother to me and when somebody threatens his life and his family's life, I am going to come to his defense. The gun comment has been taken out of context. I'm only saying that if you're going to threaten my friend and brother that you better bring a gun because if you're truly threatening his life, you'll have to take mine too. I should have realized that it may have been misinterpreted, but it's hard not to be angry when he and his mother have gone through so much".
- The rivalry: "I truly have a lot of respect for the rivalry. I would have come as vigorously to Logan's defense if it had been from anybody, football related or not. I know that those who make threats don't represent the Ohio State fan base as a whole and that every group of fans has some bad apples in it. One of the reasons I committed to Michigan was to be part of such a great rivalry".
Sounds like... Well, what it originally sounded like. I'm a little confused by all of the bunched panties.
Well since I'm from TX I take no offense to the gun comment lol. I just hope these guys back up all the talk on the field when the time comes.
Kids of a certain age don't understand that the internet is real life and that being non-anonymous on the interent is real real life.
The OSU story shows that there are insane people out there, I'd hate to see more recruits meet them.
Fucking Renegades..I love IT
Fucking Renegades..I love IT
This blog is amazing.. We go from he needs to go to higher standards, to Fuck that I am 28 and still act like juvenile...Great laughs, Great read.
I hope the death threats against LTT and his family are being investigated.
This shit is no joke.
I admire teammates sticking up for each other but I'd like to see some serious fines doled out or maybe even a little jail time for threatening to take someone's life.
This world is getting too crazy.
Fuck the freep
Ohhhhh I can't wait to see our offensive line come 2014-15.
Did it ever occur to anyone that the letter was from Columbus, so maybe it was already on fire when it got to him? Just saying.
I'm not shocked that LTT, and now Bosch, have done stupid things. They are 17, it is the way of their people.
I'm not shocked that the internet has enough crazy idiots to actually take the stupid shit said by a 17 year old seriously, and to actually take umbrage for it.
I'm not shocked that the fuckwit OP is praising one of our recruits for a stupid, idioctic statement in the name of being "NASTY", because this is the way idiots look at athletes.
In all, I think this entire deal is an excellent example of "Why we should not observe or look at social media put out by 17 year old boys." If LTT didn't have a legion of jock-sniffing panderers that he wanted to feed red meat to, this wouldn't have happened. If we didn't obsessively follow these kids, that picture wouldn't have reached the idiot fans of the opposition.
I have no problem with players talking smack about other schools. In fact, I'm willing to live with comments they make that might rub our fan base the wrong way, or may seem inappropriate. We want guys to have a mean streak, or be nasty on the field, and this attitude sometimes comes with a price. It's seldom that we get a guy that is mean and nasty on the field, and a model citizen off it. If we want to have more 10+ win seasons, we have to be prepared to accept the behavior off the field that is not quite SEC, but not Ivy league either. IMHO
Good, I say again!
The Maize and the Blue has been missing the Swagger for too long, friends!
That faux offense from Columbus?
It smells an awful lot like fear.
The gravy train is over, Columbus. And it's about to start running all over you.
This whole situation is getting stupid. Our portion of crazy/idiot fans threatening kids is awful and embarassing. STOP TWEETING HIGH SCHOOL KIDS. Who cares if he's going to play for our rival? Grow up.
And Bosch was stupid to post anything about "bringagun". There are crazy people in every fanbase, why inflame them more? I hope Hoke has a talk with him about not encouraging stupid people to do stupid things.
Bottom line is, all recruits (OSU or Michigan) need to keep their mouths shut and wait til they've actually played in The Game.
