His sack was in the 3rd or 4th quarter and the late hit happened in the 1st. I think it was a combination of winovich having his worst game of the season and wanting to find the best backup.

Winovich also went out at one point and looked like he was in mild pain. He came back in a few plays after.

The coaches had already said recently that they wanted to get Paye in the game and that he was ready, but Winovich never comes off the field.

also basically took himself out of the play on the early long barkley TD run. kinnel also took a bad angle. both played poorly on Sat.

He only got a short stint when Winovich was benched. He played a bit longer when Winovich went out with an injury and missed (at least) two series.

I agree, however, he is still undersized at DE. He might be a very good OLB in a 3-4 defense, but I would think he would return since he only has two seasons of DE experience, as well as to gain some more weight.

and it's obvious he has the frame to put on more size. Think he could develop into a very good DE.

I noticed that. I was really surprised by how well PSU's o-line played. I'm also curious where Vilain has been. I thought the general consensus was that he was ahead of Paye after fall camp broke. But, Paye looked good in his action.

I thought he looked fantastic, and standing next to Gary, he looked like he belonged, at least in the near future.. Paye will be a star by the time he is a junior.
