Nice article on one of our other walk-ons. Stories like this are one of the reasons I love college football so much. Go Blue!

The "Touch the Banner" part is the best!
Some of my favortie moments in Three and Out were Kwiatowski's try out, and either Denard or Devin saying that "Dude can play!"

I really liked what I saw out of Kwiatkowski coming out of the spring. You could tell that he was going to be a contributor. I didn't necessarily think he would play THIS much (and he might not have if Brandon Moore had stayed healthy), but Kwiatkowski has turned into a significantly better blocker than Moore ever has been.
I'm looking forward to 2013 and beyond, when Michigan will have multiple receiving threats at the tight end positions (Funchess, Butt, Hill, etc.).
1. That is a nearly Hokian point by the guy on his back in the picture from the article
2. I see he is listed as a RS senior on Mgoblue.com, but does he have eligibility remaining? It wouldn't be terrible to have him around next year.
Except for the other thing. That hurts the most. But the lack of respect hurts the second most.
No, he is done after this season. While the future is bright for the TE position, Kwiatkowski has been a nice bright spot for the team this year. It would be nice to have him around next year with his experience and blocking ability, but Williams and even Hill seem like they will fill in nicely in the next few seasons.

Don't forget about Jake Butt - he's probably the second best TE prospect in the pipeline, behind Funchess.
I guess I was thinking more along the blocking type. But Jake Butt will be fun to watch too. I think he is more in the Koger mold; can catch and block. At least that is how I view him but I could be wrong.

I think Butt's going to be a better in-line blocker than Hill. Hill is more of the pass catching type.
Funchess and Hill are match-up challenges. Hill is intriguing with his size, agility and low center of gravity. Wonder if he could run the ball and execute screens to create a dynamic threat if he lines up in the backfield as an h-back. Jake will dominate LBs and Ss in the middle zone while Funchess stretches the field and Hill attacks the outer edges.
Dynamic group to match Borges eclectic offense.

You would know better than I would. I haven't seen much film on Hill so I guess my opinion is mostly guessing. Thanks for your input Magnus.

Yeah, there's not much film out there on Khalid Hill. He did play some offensive tackle this year, too...
"I had the choice of blocking Mike Martin or Ryan Van Bergen, and neither of them knew who I was" - Mike Kwiatkowski, in reference to his days as an OG on the scout team
I actually thought some of the jobs that I had during my undergraduate years were bad, then I read stories like this and that job as a laborer at a landscaping company seems awesome.
In all seriousness, Kwiatkowski is another one of the great stories on this team, from trying out with the hope of making the travel squad to the scout team to playing very little to being a great contributor at TE this year. The hard work and dedication to the team show great character and hopefully reflect in everything that he does after he leaves campus. Go Blue, Mr. Kwiatkowski.
Thanks to the OP for sharing this - hopefully they highlight a few more seniors like this in next couple days leading into Senior Day.

On my floor in Markley my freshman year...couldn't have happened to a nicer and better guy.
"Maybe you can't count, but there's four of us and one of you."
"So get some more guys and it'll be a fair fight."
Great story; awesome job Mike Wazowksi!

"It would be a travesty, it would be ridiculous to all of a sudden come back and get the feeling back, get the health back, feel good again and then all of a sudden go throw some other colors on my shirt and go coach."
The article failed to use the word "GRIT." I thought that was required for all athletes who were un- or under-recruited.
I am unbelievably proud of this guy! He has worked so hard and it's nice to see him get some recognition. I've been dating Mike for a year and a half so I don't feel bad about sharing this picture of our Halloween costumes this year. It was time for it to surface and I think the MGoBlog community will really appreciate it. Enjoy!

Those shirts are tremendous. Welcome to the MGoBlog community, btw. We are all just as glad to see Mike's hard work pay off as you are. Go Blue and Go Monsters, Inc. (yeah I loved the movie).

I played against him in High School. He was an extremely good player I am honestly surprised he didn't get more offers. Very possible that the entire team was so good that he didn't get noticed as much.

1. Key contributor as a senior where the Team really needed help.
2. Touch the banner and recognition on Senior Day
3. Articles and great pictures to relive the thrill forever
4. Lifetime honor as a Michigan Man (football, academics, character)
