Some Twitter Buzz. It seems good for Michigan.
Kris Frost news
We need a high 4 star in this class and Kris is the guy. We just need to sell him on playing WR first, becuase that is what he wants.
Go Blue Kris!
Get this kid on campus... but of course keep Denard first.../s
Man among boys good
He should have been on the phone last night trying to get this kid back. Either position he plays (although i hope it's LB) will be a help to us. Some higher being is trying to tell this kid something... Go to MICHIGAN!! haha
He couldn't talk to him last night; there's a recruiting dead period from 1/10 to 1/13.
I did realize that after I posted, although i should have edited. Sometimes I get caught up in the thread and don't use my head. appoligies for stupidity.
You are allowed to call/write during a dead period, there's just no in person recruiting.
What he said.
why did u reply to a post about kris frost by talking about BB players? wtf..
No big deal
I agree, I hope Frost waits until coach Hoke can talk to him. I think Hoke will be able to bring him to AA.
Has Hoke started reaching out to potential recruits yet or is he focused on his coaching staff? This kid would be a huge pull and give me a little happiness in the middle of three weeks of dread.
I believe there is a dead period right now where coaches can't contact recruits. I think it ends tomorrow but I don't know the exact time.
So he should be focusing on coaches so that once this dead period ends he can hit the recruiting trail.
Gotcha, thanks. I don't know much about recruiting so I figured I was missing something.
This is correct, as far as I know
I hope Brady Hoke pulls a Jim Schwartz and is waiting outside Kris Frost's door waiting for the dead period to end.
We, on this site, are constantly scouring the internets for any shred of recruiting info.
Can we assume Hoke/Michigan and the recruting department are doing the same?
I would hope so.
As soon as they saw that... they should be on the phone with Frost or at least someone in his camp(after the dead period).
He is going to call the committed kids first. I would assume that he would have to watch recruiting videos on each of the players and learn something about them before calling them so he can speak intelligently about why he wants them at Michigan.
I don't know how long that will take in addition to securing the rest of his staff, recruitng Denard, and meeting the rest of the players. I hope he gets there soon.
I hope that seeing as hoke was previously a head coach he has already seen some film on this kid before he arrived in AA. It's not like frost is a unknown. Pitch the reciever aspect to get his attention but tell him we need LBs, he's a monster, and oh yeah GO BLUE!
I've heard that UNC might be Frost's second choice behind Auburn at this point, but maybe he can be Hoke-oiled.
A week ago it was his dream to play at Michigan and he was a 99.9% lock to come here; now we're not even his second choice? Considering his passion for Michigan seemed to be evident throughout his recruitment, you'd think Hoke could convince him to join on.
True, but he doesn't know ANYONE at the University anymore, except maybe Chris Singletary. That's got to be a little disconcerting for an 18-year-old.
could be a holdover.
Most kids don't know anyone at the University before they enroll.
And here I thought coaches built up relationships with recruits for a reason.
I guess those two or three years of recruitment don't mean anything, huh?
My first time on campus at Michigan as a Grad student I knew a couple kids that were enrolled in the school (players on the team) met the dean (head coach) and knew the people on the acceptance committee (assistants and recruiters). And who cares where I went so for sure they know a lot of familiar faces when they arrive.
That sounds gross.
I haven't heard the same about UNC. I think Michigan will still be in good position.
Well, I sure hope you're right and I'm wrong.
I'll trust Tom's info before anyone else's
...doesn't really roll off the tongue does it? Maybe "Hoke-tied"?
can we potentially give props to a SEC team for not oversigning?
maybe while we are at it we can give them props for not murdering people?
Is it too late for early enrollment at UM?
I think he has until January 21.
Either way early 20's in January. Still enough time.
Missing the first three weeks of the semester is a tough way to enter your first semester of college, though. I expect he won't be EE if he comes. It's probably in his best interest too.
add in the fact that most classes have their first exam right around the drop/add deadline, a new environement, knowing few people right off the bat, yeah I'd say EE is out of the question.
I feel good about this. It never really made sense to me that Frost (who will very very likely be playing LB) saw the RichRod firing as reason to reconsider us. Given how bad our defense was, it would seem he would be on board with a switch in that personnel. Especially since all reports were that he was in love with the idea of being in Ann Arbor and the school itself. I totally understand developing a personal relationship with coaches, but if he really loved it here all along, he could be walking into a better situation for his development.
underestimate the attachment that recruits develop toward particular coaches, rather than schools (I know Frost is something of an exception to this given how much he loved Michigan growing up, but, I mean, he did back out of a silent commitment once RR was fired).
I think it depends on the kid as well but I agree in general. Recruiting is all about personal relationships. If a kid was set on going to one school (UNC) and then commits to another (Michigan) it seems clear to me that the personal relationship with a coach(es) had a lot to do with it. When that coach(es) leaves, its back to square one . . .
would also go a ways in showing Kris how he would fit on that side of the ball.
we have to promise him he starts as a receiver. Rodriguez was promising that and that is what Frost wants. Hoke has to make Frost feel that he will be given every opportunity to succeed at WR before considering a position switch.
... That he wants to try WR first. He might end up playing linebacker but he wants a shot on offense, maybe the offensive switch left him second guessing.
