Kozan down to just Michigan and Iowa?
Hemholdt just ReTweeted a link saying that Auburn is still in it for Kozan, Diamond, and Diggs. I could give a shit less about Diggs anymore, but I would hope that we can snare Kozan and Diamond
I'd be happy with one or the other.
RT @JHokanson: We have an update on Alex Kozan, Jordan Diamond, and Stefon Diggs on our board. Auburn still in play for all three.
There it is
I'm going with CoPreps. The local guy.
Copreps = Colorado preps?
yes
Watch Auburn get all three.........................
taking all three further ignoring the NCAA's suggestion about reducing their scholarships.
Hookers and cash my friend. Hookers and cash.
Tough to compete with the SEC in college football recruiting.
If you've been to Auburn you would know its not the sort of economy that would support a large number of hookers. Its got a real small town feel, which I guess can be appealing to some. Its in the middle of nowhere, and you have to drive by a lot of cows to get there. My girlfriend's undergrad is from Auburn, and she loves it the same way I love a Wordsworth poem--its pastoral and quaint and full of itself all at the same time. It in no way compares to Ann Arbor culturally.
Hence the nickname Aubarn
Call them hookers or call them " hostesses who will do ANYTHING for the program," but Auburn still uses just as much "southern hospitality" as the rest of the SEC does, with maybe the exception of Bama's world class "hostess" squad.
You need that to rebuild ya daddy's church.
that Kozan takes a poll of the hostesses and finds that too many are majoring in Liberal Arts.
But if I can think of something else to say, I guess it won't be...
They use hookers and cash? I guess Craig James was just trying to level the playing field...
for SEC teams
played, sir
So who are we going with, the young gun from the South, or the aged preps sportswriter from Colorado?
No knock on lefty...but I would be weary on how that Auburn O rolls without Malzahn. they also lost Dyer when Malzahn left.
I guess I just dont get the appeal of Auburn...I can understand Bama but not Auburn.
large bills
Noone knows what they're talking about. They're all just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.
Does Noone have a Twitter account? If he knows what all these guys are talking about I'd like to hear from him.
I don't understand the appeal of a lot of schools that kids choose over Michigan
be a little biased?
Of course, but come on, Rutgers?
Garnett, wanting to be a Doctor and being from the West Coast, going to Stanford makes sense to me.
Kozan, being from Colorado, leaning towards Iowa, makes no sense to me.
Rutgers without Schiano, makes no sense to me.
But they are 17-18 year old kids
I agree... Why would you seriously not want to come to Michigan.... I mean Iowa really wtf are they selling this kid on??
They're probably selling this kid on the fact that Iowa has kinda kicked around Michigan in recent years. Sometimes recent history shows a kid a lot more about a program than our national titles 100 years ago.
Who didn't kick us around during the RR era??? I mean that's a pretty weak sales pitch especially since we won a BCS game this year
..
We beat them by 6 in 2001. They beat us in 2002 and 2003. In 2004 we beat them but they finished 10-2 and #8 in the country. In 2005 we needed OT to beat them. We didn't play in 2007 and 2008. They've beat us 3 years in a row.
They won a BCS bowl in 2009 and went to another in 2002. They've had four top-10 finishes in the last 10 seasons (same as us).
Iowa's sales pitch is a lot stronger than you are pretending it is.
We are Michigan... Iowa doesnt even compare
That's all well and good, but no matter where Kozan goes, let's not pretend Iowa takes kids over Michigan very often at all. The top player from Iowa picked Michigan this year, remember.
Does he have a lot invested in the head to head match up ? I don't understand this point at all
this year. [Takes off Hokie-colored glasses and returns to reason].
Iowa puts PLENTY of offensive lineman into the NFL...they definitely have more in recent memory.
Let's not be ignorant and act like this is a 5* WR choosing Houston with no Case Keenum or Kevin Sumlin over us.
I visited Iowa City once.
Nope, that's it. End of thought. There is not much else to say.
Have you seen Iowa's OL Draft history? 13 drafted over the past 10 years vs. 4 out of Mich.
- 2012: 1st (Reiff), 4-6(Zusevics)
- 2011: 5th (Vandervelde)
- 2010: 1st (Bulaga), 7th
- 2009: 4th
- 2008: nobody
- 2007: 3rd, 7th
- 2006: nobody
- 2005: 6th
- 2004: 1st
- 2003: 2nd, 2nd, 5th
I don't know whose fault it is (Andy Moeller?), but aside from Jake Long and David Baas, there was a long pre-RichRod O-line dry spell here. Anyone who speaks of "getting back to UMich offensive lines" should be prepared to head to 2000.
Speaking of RichRod, he had one year with (ultimately) no recruits in that area. Aside from Lewan (looking good at this point) and Schofield (maybe), I don't see any future pros from his 3 1/2 classes.
Don't forget that Iowa has been able to place their OL in the NFL quite well under Ferentz. Definite sales pitch.
That's why its called recruiting, isnt it? It's not hard to see why so many recruits go so many different places with all the dynamics that go into trying to convince a 17 year old kid (who has never made a grown-up decision in his life) to pick your school over another school.
That we are even in this conversation is good news. When we all ran to our computers this morning, we all assumed he was Iowa bound. We have a chance, and we're playing with house money.
These two teams are headed in opposite directions. Let's be real here Kozan. Do you want trophies or do you want ER bills?
It would be really nice, but like every other prospect recently that we thought we had a shot at, this one seems more far-fetched.
I don't think it's far-fetched. If Colorado guys are saying he's down to us and Iowa, I have to like our chances. He obviously has major reservations about the Hawkeyes, and kids typically don't recommit to schools
Unless your Jordan Payton
Kinda feel left out.........we're one of the few to not get a commitment form Payton!!
That he is meeting with the coaches to decide between Michigan and Iowa. I do hope that we end up with Kozan and Diamond though. It would be absolutely wonderful.
Hoke said he doesn't tweet. Hopefully the offensive line coaches have an account LOL
I think you mean HALOL.
Period. I'm seriously beginning to wonder whether or not the Kozan decision is really about the Diamond decision. Could Alex potentially wait until Friday night or even Saturday?
That's what I was thinking. I think it would be stupid for him to base his decision off of that considering that they play different positions, but I am wondering if he's just looking at raw OL numbers.
I think this is it. If Diamond goes to Auburn (which they're waiting for) there's no spot for Kozan. If Diamond says no, they'll take him. The fact that they play different positions on the line only makes no sense if you figure this is about US. sadly.
When AK is announcing? I would prefer not spending all night refreshing the android mgoblog app
Got something against a night with mgoblog?
unlike the rest of you, I'm not indefatigable.
Because of your nonindefatigablishness, you probably won't even be up to read this.
Baby puked twice and is sick :( Have some decency Kozen! :)
Was Dantonio doing his press conference from there...?
And isnit
to announce at halftime on BTN
/a man can dream
there is NOTHING there..Nothing!
While Iowa has been doing well the past few years, I can not see them on the way up. They lost to Minnesota. The league could be returning to the old days when it was Michigan and Ohio, then the rest of the league.
If I was him I would be torn since he would be molk's hopeful replacement on the sugar bowl champion, big ten no 2 defense, no.2 offense (IMO-both in 2012). For me its better than getting noticed in the insight bowl. This should be a no brainer but with recruits you never know. I say he should've committed to Blue already!
