Is he playing safety?
Kovacs records 1st NFL tackle
Nope... Running back!
His first punt was a total shank, but his second bounced out at the 2 it was a 48 yard punt!
And Denard is starting over Henne and Gabbert next week for the Jags at QB. Hell, he even had more TD passes than Tom Brady at Michigan - imagine what that translates to in the NFL.
You guys are hilarious. I thought he might have switched to LB since he's not very fast. Seemed like a legit question.
He's number 44 if you are watching
Kovacs looking good on this series. Form tackle on one play and held up the runner couple times later for an assisted tackle. I was right in on the play another time. Glad to see the guy hasn't lost his nose for the football.
Nice spin move there to get off a block for another stop.
I am only watching this game to watch Kovacs. He has not disappointed so far.
No joke. It seems he's done enough, though. I didn't see him out there on that last series.
Crazy to think I was just yelling at the tv to get this slow kid off the field against Indiana. Now he's in the NFL.
Me too...I remember thinking to myself that there had to be someone on the roster who was better than Kovacs. You can't help but be happy for him for proving people like us how wrong we often are (I admittedly also thought Gardner a better WR prospect).
Stephen Ross won't let him get cut!
there was a post earlier calling Rager the biggest asshole on this site and I couldn't help but think that you never, ever, post anything even remarkably positive...
Has heh signed a contract yet or still waiting to find out?
As far as I know, the only deal right now is the free agent contract that Kovacs signed after the draft in April. Moneywise,my understanding of those is that teams work from a pool of around $75,000 for all UDFA and that each team has some sort of different scheme by which they pay out the signing bonuses (usually a few thousand each).
It would be cool to see Jordan earn a roster spot and earn the full $405,000 if not more. It would mean that he had done what he had hoped yet again and earned a shot as a walk-on (or the NFL equivalent of it, in this case). From a Kyle Meinke article back in May:
"That’s my advantage -- I’ve been through this before. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, so to say, at the University of Michigan. Far from it, to be honest with ya. I had to walk-on twice. I had to basically convince the coaches to take me, and just had to be stubborn about it. I’m confident I can do it again in the NFL."
Good to see that the coaches want him on ST's, hopefully it helps his chances to making the team.
Nice hit on the onsides kick there kovacs
Showed what he's best at: smarts, serious tackling, ability to read the plays. And that last leaping tackle was Gallonesque.
I've loved how a lot of UM guys have come to Miami. I've also hated how they never make it for very long. (Ha! Long, no pun intended.) Here's to hoping Kovacs does!
2 tackles for Kovacs. Awesome!
Apparently no touches for Denard or Henne though :(
[falls on own sword]
I thought the Florida Panthers were supposed to be an NHL team. Florida is confusing...
I know this is of topic but,
The new countdown to kickoff is up in case someone wants to make a thread.
On plays where he wasn't tasked with a deep half he seemed to show up right around the ball. Helping with gang tackles and such. The only play that I could tell that really looked sub-par was that touchdown run. It looked like he got caught up in some trash and couldn't get to the edge.
his assigment was the cut back. He stepped into the gap and when the runner committed to the edge got caught up with the safety and db who were both being held. I think Kovacs played that well enough.

Maimi @ Jacksonville
Two teams I usually could care less about, but will definitely try to watch some Blue on the field!
