Terrible news. I wonder if IMG gives refunds? Best of luck KJ
August 22nd, 2016 at 7:54 AM ^
I might stay down there if I were him. Given their seemingly endless resources, probably a great place to rehab a torn ACL.
August 22nd, 2016 at 8:22 AM ^
Yeah, IMG seems like the best place for an injured football recruit to not be forgotten about. He'll be able to interact with the colleges who come for his teammates, and hopefully come back strong for college ball.
August 22nd, 2016 at 9:32 AM ^
If he comes back, he would get expert care plus be near his loved ones.
August 22nd, 2016 at 11:36 AM ^
It all depends on if IMG is going to pay for treatment/recovery.
August 22nd, 2016 at 10:07 AM ^
Not sure its the case here, but I thought that most of the out of state kids at IMG recieved scholarships/financial aid?
Either way, hope he gets healthy soon
August 22nd, 2016 at 5:30 AM ^
I feel for the young man. I feel for any H.S. senior that has to miss out on his final year of H.S. football.
August 22nd, 2016 at 6:09 AM ^
I honestly expected this to be about an Iowa RB. That sucks for the kid.
August 22nd, 2016 at 6:35 AM ^
Brutal. Feel really bad for him. Hope it doesn't affect his recruitment for any school.

Unfortunately, it will have an effect. Matt Falcon paid that price too. Let's hope he recovers quickly.
August 22nd, 2016 at 7:53 AM ^
I dunno... Falcon had multiple issues with the same knee (I think it was the same knee), and (apparently) didn't work out very well (or medical records looked ugly). There was concern that he could re-injure it. Or so that's what Harbaugh implied. I don't believe this puts Hamler in that same category. That said, I don't see how it couldn't negatively effect him - an ACL tear is legitimately bad, with a long recovery. He'll never get another chance to prove himself until he's in college. Hopefully, as someone pointed out below, IMG will work to get the kid right before casting him out to the collegiate wilderness...
August 22nd, 2016 at 8:16 AM ^
ACL injuries take so long to recover from. I know medical folks have shortened that time period, but missing game action for evaluations are what really screw the kids.
August 22nd, 2016 at 9:07 AM ^
But this will have an impact on his recruitment. A lot of teams, particularly those that can afford to be picky, want to see how he improved his SR year and how he did against better competition. He'll still land on his feet and likely end up at a good school, but it no doubt will limit his options to some degree, which sucks.
August 22nd, 2016 at 9:15 AM ^
IIRC, Michigan asked Falcon to sit out his senior year and rehab his knee, but he chose to play and reinjured it.
August 22nd, 2016 at 11:42 AM ^
Harbaugh told him to sit out senior year and heal up to play at Michigan.
Mr. Falcon chose poorly.
August 22nd, 2016 at 6:42 AM ^
Kid has about 25 offers from top programs. Hope he recovers completely and retains his offers.
August 22nd, 2016 at 6:58 AM ^
It sucks, but he'll come back strong.
August 22nd, 2016 at 6:58 AM ^
I wonder how that works at IMG? Do you still get to train, rehab, and go to school there when you're lost for the season, or do you have to transfer back?
August 22nd, 2016 at 7:27 AM ^
What if a student-athlete gets injured?
If an injury occurs that keeps a student-athlete away from normal training and participation, they are transferred into the Injured Athlete Program (IAP). IAP places the injured student-athlete into the Athletic and Personal Development program, which will allow them to seamlessly transition back into their sport after rehabilitation and receiving a medial release from participation.
Sounds like they have a program in place for injured athletes. I don't know the circumstances surrounding the injury, but assuming he was practicing or training at IMG while it happened, I'm sure they'll support him through his senior year with rehabilitation.

They have to attend class in the dungeon building. A world class classroom building donated by the unfortunately named Susan T. Dungeon Foundation. /s obviously

Terrible news. I feel really bad for him. Hope he can come back and still have a great college career. What a crappy way to start the week. The wife might be pregnant and now this crap.
August 22nd, 2016 at 7:50 AM ^
Are those both crappy things?
August 22nd, 2016 at 8:00 AM ^
Unexpected pregnancies, especially when miscarriages have been involved in the recent past, can cause fear and panic as well as anger and anxiety. So, unfortunately, discovering your wife is pregnant is not always a joyous moment.
August 22nd, 2016 at 8:28 AM ^
Best of luck, man.
August 22nd, 2016 at 8:31 AM ^
How do you know his story?

Roll Damn Tide?
August 22nd, 2016 at 11:17 AM ^
I don't, just know my story! Ha. Currently in the middle of it. While I'm excited for the potential of a kid, dealing with that and the fears in your wife isn't always a fun experience. Been a long year.
I was just basically trying to get the point across that not all pregnancies are "joyful" experiences. Sometimes it's hard to understand that unless you've been through a not so joyful one.
August 22nd, 2016 at 8:33 AM ^
Been through the miscarriage thing. Thinking of you. Hang in there.
August 22nd, 2016 at 9:07 AM ^
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis can help next time if you want to explore that. Recurring miscarriages suck. The doctor insisted we needed a surrogate then there was nothing to implant. Different Doctor years later and PGD it worked out.
August 22nd, 2016 at 11:23 AM ^
We are on attempt #3 with no prior kids. Started initial testing, but if #3 happens then we already discussed doing the genetic testing. We are hopeful. Been doing a lot of praying.
August 22nd, 2016 at 11:40 AM ^
Attempt #3 was the charm for my girlfriends parents (and her). It's a scary situation, so I'm praying with you.
August 22nd, 2016 at 11:28 AM ^
Thanks, man.
Sorry for stealing your thunder, Ty. Wasn't my intention. Whatever the situation is, stay cool. At least you should have an epic Michigan football season to help keep your mind from going crazy.
August 22nd, 2016 at 9:08 AM ^
Especially when your wife is pregnant and you're not the father.
August 22nd, 2016 at 9:43 AM ^
His highlight reel before the injury shows his potential and ACL injuries are not the career ender that they used to be. Even if he does not start his career at his dream school, all of his goals are still in front of him.
If he graduates early, it's possible that he could have at least two years of eligibility as a redshirt junior. That dream school can still be in play.
August 22nd, 2016 at 10:04 AM ^
went to 247 does not show him committed to michigan.
August 22nd, 2016 at 10:12 AM ^
He's not and probably will never be as we've got at least four WRs higher on our board than him that we have a great shot at (DPJ, Collins, Oliver Martin, Tarik Black), but he's a top 10 in state player so it's news.
August 22nd, 2016 at 10:11 AM ^
He's a Michigan recruit. Not a commit. I don't think Michigan ever pushed very hard for him and is unlikely to land him, but regardless, that sucks for the kid. Hope he comes back strong.
August 22nd, 2016 at 11:21 AM ^
agree with this probable on the back burner
August 22nd, 2016 at 10:39 AM ^
This probably ends the small sliver of hope that Ace was holding onto in regards to him committing to Michigan. Somewhere in Ann Arbor there's a grown man with a broken heart.
August 22nd, 2016 at 11:54 AM ^
Wishing him a speedy recovery. I was excited to see what he would do at IMG. Gotta feel for the kid.
August 22nd, 2016 at 1:05 PM ^
Sucks, but hopefully he recovers quickly.
