Kinda OT: Stanford BCS Scenarios Mark Michigan Heading To Sugar Bowl
Thought I would lather you all up with this interesting read. While the article is about how Stanfords BCS chances shape up, it also mentions Michigan to the Sugar Bowl:
http://espn.go.com/blog/stanford-football/post/_/id/4098/stanfords-bcs-scenarios
Specifically:
"The best case scenario for Stanford is an LSU-Alabama national championship," Edwards said. "It puts Michigan in the Sugar Bowl and takes another at-large team off the board."

I'm getting the impression we should root for LSU over Georgia and everything else will fall into place. That and BEAT OHIO.
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
Going to be hard. I really want LSU and Bama to lose so that chaos will reign.
November 24th, 2011 at 12:30 AM ^
Unless LSU loses twice I can't imagine they'll be left out.
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
I don't F'ing care.
Beat the hell out of Ohio, let the chips fall where they may after that.
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
or else you wouldn't post here. I, too, hope this premature talk doesn't jinx anything.
GO BLUE!
November 24th, 2011 at 8:57 AM ^
THIS!
once the Rosebowl became money instead of pride...the bowl means squat to me...BEAT OHIO.
November 24th, 2011 at 10:46 AM ^
I hope they do make a BCS bowl. The seniors deserve it. I guarantee if you asked the players whether or not a BCS bowl berth mattered to them, you probably wouldn't get too many "I don't F'ing care."

I wonder where it would put us if Georgia won the SEC. I would love a UM-UGA matchup.
November 24th, 2011 at 10:38 AM ^
I think Georgia would probably kill us, but it would be an entertaining high scoring game.
November 24th, 2011 at 10:57 AM ^
UGA struggled to beat an awful Kentucky team in Athens last week. Perhaps they were looking ahead, but they haven't done anything all year to make me think they would kill Michigan. They're the first SEC East team ever to advance to the championship game without having even played any of the top 3 SEC West teams (Auburn is their crossover game and they drew Ole Miss and MSU). IME, M would throttle UGA in the Sugar Bowl.
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
Stop worrying about our bowl we have to beat Ohio first and then we can worry about that. No game is a sure win
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:36 PM ^
Your hilarious. When I say "we" I mean the football team at the university of Michigan. If you consider yourself part of the football team good for you!
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
You're going to feel reeeeally silly if that's Mike Martin posting that right there
November 24th, 2011 at 12:47 AM ^
no way - its my hiliarous.
and this blog is going to look really silly when it gets beat by ohio because it looked past them.
November 24th, 2011 at 7:07 AM ^
Considering the way Ohio has played, I would think this blog has a good shot at beating Ohio. We just need a few dozen volunteers to round out our team, that's all.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:14 AM ^
So the blog looking past Ohio has an impact on whether the team wins? Come on, it only matters if the team and coaches are focused.
November 24th, 2011 at 10:20 AM ^
You wanna upset the guy from high atop the thing??!
November 24th, 2011 at 5:43 AM ^
I swear I was thinking the same thing. LMAO! And to the guy up under u saying it could be Martin, even funnier.
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:52 PM ^
Yeah it would be nice to see a bunch of higher ranked teams lose just to see everyone freak out. The ultimate goal is to beat the living daylights out of ohio. Does anyone think Hoke will run up the score if given the chance? I don't think he would personally, anyone disagree?
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:54 PM ^
The dude beat Minny 58-0, I don't think he would shed any tears for ohio
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:56 PM ^
I am hearing that i am going to win the lottery. Yay me. We have to beat Ohio State first.....If we lose, i will blame this loss on you.
November 23rd, 2011 at 11:57 PM ^
November 24th, 2011 at 12:03 AM ^
Bottom team in BCS is eliminated and head to dad determines winner of remaining two. Ridiculous tiebreaker imo
November 24th, 2011 at 11:06 AM ^
That's just wrong.
November 24th, 2011 at 12:50 AM ^
I really don't want to face Alabama, LSU, or Arkansas in a BCS bowl game. Should we beat Ohio, I want to play a team that we could probably beat. That would be Houston. I know a lot of people think there's no glory of beating Houston in a BCS bowl, but it's still a BCS bowl win in Hoke's first year, and that would be huge.
November 24th, 2011 at 1:19 AM ^
I'm ok with destroying either Houston or the Big East champ
November 24th, 2011 at 5:55 AM ^
Man u sound like a agricultural fan(michigan state). We play bama next yr anyway better to see what we're up against.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:10 AM ^
Heck, I say bring on any of those teams if we get to a BCS bowl. You want to be the best, you gotta beat the best.
November 24th, 2011 at 1:45 AM ^
Am i the only one who is kinda nervous about playing OSU on Saturday? I am thinking they have abetter than average chance against us. I am just being honest. This is the best defense that we have seen all year. Borges better be ready to call one hell of a game.
GO BLUE!!
November 24th, 2011 at 9:01 AM ^
it's THE GAME for good reason...I won't feel comfortable til 00:00....OR at the hands of a royal ass whoopin' by the middle of the third...but whatever...yeah you can't really rely on records or mutual opponents...the game is THE GAME. And you know those bugeye bastards will muster everything they have and put together their best game of the season...and we can only hope we get the refs who worked the Nebraska game rather than those who worked the Iowa game...just sayin'.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:15 AM ^
This one terrifies me. Not that they are a better team than us, but the implications if we lose are horrendous.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:36 AM ^
At this point, OSU really has nothing to lose. Their season is pretty much pinned on this one game. Michigan at this point has pretty much exceded expectations (new coach, new schemes, that defense from last year, etc.). Teams that face teams with nothing to lose will face a buzzsaw.
So we'll see.
As for the larger BCS world...I would love to see more chaos. I want to see enough chaos that they will finally declare the system broken.
November 24th, 2011 at 9:49 AM ^
Actually I would sadly take Michigan State's defense over OSU this year. After watching what Penn State did rushing-wise against the OSU defense, I gained a little more confidence in this game. However, that being said, I think as many have pointed out that this game will be a hard fought game but I wouldn't mind a final score to match that Nebraska win.
With that being said, GO BLUE! BEAT OHIO!!!
November 24th, 2011 at 4:53 AM ^
Ohio has a freshman starting at LB and doesnt generate a lot of pass rush...they are soft in the middle and if Denard is accurate, IMO our WRs and maybe Koger can have a huge day...this will open up Fitz to run wild in the second half and kill clock...not worried about their D more worried about Braxton Miller getting loose or suddenly being accurate
November 24th, 2011 at 9:39 AM ^
Denard: smart, sure throws only, if it isn't there, RUN, for the love of god RUN up the field, and we'll be fine
November 24th, 2011 at 5:49 AM ^
....beat Ohio first, then we can find ourselves a good place in BCS anarchy.
November 24th, 2011 at 5:50 AM ^
Any BCS bowl will do. And yes, of course we need to take care of Ohio first. I have been really worried almost every game this season about how the Maize and Blue would play. Not so much this game. I think Michigan builds up a lead, and Gardner gets some reps in mop up role to end the game.
November 24th, 2011 at 7:13 AM ^
and then let us go to whatever bowl will have us. A BCS bowl would be perfect for the mere fact that it would rub it in MSU's face since they will be skipped for losing the BTCG.
I also believe it is best for us to be in a bowl game with a team that we can beat to end the season on a high note to build toward next fall. We don't need an end to the season like MSU had last year with Bama, so I let's stay away from an upper SEC team for at least this year!
BEAT OHIO
November 24th, 2011 at 9:13 AM ^
As far as I am concerned this is our BCS game. Nothing else matters. We must win this one to restore order in the universe. Go Blue!
November 24th, 2011 at 9:22 AM ^
Beating Ohio is the focus. We can shift gears to the next game as the clock ticks off to 0:00 and the Wolverines rain down a sparkling Gatorade bath upon the Big Fella.
Frickin' jacked for this game. I am a 39 year old man who is going to run with the coeds onto the field as if I was running with the bulls. I am stretching now so I do not pull a hammy.
Hail the Victors!
November 24th, 2011 at 10:20 AM ^
All week all I have been thinking abuot is beating Ohio. No that will not help the team on Saturday, so yes it is ok to think ahead and post your thoughts to the blog. But your voice, your voice needs to come with you on Saturday (for those of us at the game). Your voice will not make a tackle, a catch, a great cut back or a coaching adjustment. We will leave those things to Martin, Koger, Fitz, Hoke (and Staff) and the rest of the TEAM that is running under the banner on Saturday. But your voice can and should create an atmosphere that disrupts Ohio's thoughts and causes them to make mistake after mistake.
Go Blue! Beat Ohio and see you in New Orleans, Miami, Glendale, Tampa, Orlando or wherever we need to go to follow our beloved Wolverines.

The Sugar Bowl would be fantastic. I live in AR so the trip would not even be that bad to make. a buddy of mine went to the SB last year and he said that it was insane.
November 24th, 2011 at 11:43 AM ^
The Big Ten should pull out of the BCS after the uproar about there being a rematch in 06. Stanford should play for the title if LSU loses.
November 25th, 2011 at 12:00 AM ^
"The best case scenario for Stanford is an LSU-Alabama national championship," Edwards said. "It puts Michigan in the Sugar Bowl and takes another at-large team off the board."Why should Stanford care about Michigan? Because Stanford has struggled to fill its own stadium recently.
