Kind of OT- Hockey

I know we are still in the heart of football season, but i do not want to ignore the hockey team all together. We are 4-2-0 on the season with an embarrassing shutout loss to Alaska and a heartbreaking 3-2 loss at BU, but still ranked #4 in the nation. This weekend is huge, which may be a even bigger understatement. We are hosting Miami who is currently ranked #1 in the country and is coming in with a 6-1-1 record. A tie to New Hampshire and a OT loss to sparty. I am not sure what to think of Miami right now, their schedule is questionable but they are still hanging right with us statistically. Michigan is averaging 3.67 G/G and allowing 2 G/G, whereas Miami is scoring 3.25 G/G and allowing 2.25 G/G. Michigan's PP is a lousy 18.8%, but has an impressive 91.2% PK. Miami PP is 20.9% , with a 83.7% PK. This is my take, Michigan needs to come out strong, which we have so far (12 of 22 goals in 1st). If we are able to put two in the 1st i think the defense will be able to hold off Miami for the rest of the game, assuming our offense wins the TOP battle. However, we will have to buckle down for a strong Miami 2nd (17 of 26 goals in 2nd). This is also when Miami is statistically playing their worse defense, so Michigan should be able to take advantage of this. Just curious to thoughts. GO BLUE!!!

I'm really pleased with the way Hagelin and Rust are playing. Also, what a fantastic start by Brown and Czarnick. Hogan is looking the best in net I've seen from a Michigan goaltender in quite some time.

I wouldn't categorize the loss to Alaska as embarrassing. It's always tough to play up there and the Nanooks appear to have a competent team again this year. We seemed to have found a bit of offense this past weekend up at Lake St and I'm hoping that can carry over into the next two weekends (home/away w/MSU after MNTM). Also, both game against Miami will be televised on Comcast.

we've handled miami pretty well from mgoblue: 1/11/2009 - home - #11 Michigan 4, #8 Miami 0 1/10/2009 - home - #11 Michigan 5, #8 Miami 1 11/22/2008 - away - #7 Miami (Ohio) 2, #9 Michigan 1 11/21/2008 - away - #7 Miami (Ohio) 2, #9 Michigan 0 3/22/2008 - neutral - #1 Michigan 2, #3 Miami 1 2/9/2008 - away - #2 Michigan 5, #1 Miami (Ohio) 5 2/8/2008 - away - #2 Michigan 4, #1 Miami (Ohio) 2 so that's 4-2-1 in the last 7. i expect us to sweep or split at home. and those 2 losses were during that nasty funk the team was in at the beginning of last year. i think we sweep

Both games are being televised on Comcast locally, but for those of us not in the area (I'm in Chicago), does anyone know how to get access to the game on TV? I have a pretty serious digital tv package with a good deal of sports channels, but none of them seem to have it scheduled (FCS Central often picks us up, but MN is playing WI this weekend, so they're on in roughly the same time slot). I know there's always justin.tv or other online feeds, but I'd really prefer to somehow get it legitimately through Comcast Chicago. Many thanks for any suggestions. In the meantime, I'll work on a more efficient hook-up from my computer to TV...
