Kiffin and the NCAA probe, Questions.

Submitted by BoyBlue on
With Kiffin leaving for USC a myriad of questions arise. Primarily, what is USC thinking? They are in the process of dealing with NCAA issues and they hire a guy who breaks the rules (although only minor ones) regularly. Why does Kiffin leave Tenn? Does this mean that the large NCAA hammer we hope would drop on USC is not going to happen? Is Kiffin and USC confident that the NCAA won't touch them?

I think USC likes the Kiffin staff (essentially getting the band back together from the early 2000's) more than they necessarily like Lane. I don't think Kiffin was a great fit at Tennessee to begin with and his obnoxious style (which I think will be toned down at SC) didn't make him a lot of friends. He probably also sees the juggernauts at Bama and Florida and knows the competition is lighter in the Pac10. Since Kiffin is bringing the whole staff, I don't think SC is too worried about the NCAA (and they should have some idea what is coming at this point). I'm guessing any sanctions forthcoming are manageable and/or not crippling to the program.

There's two possibilities: 1) USC knows they're not going to be hit terribly hard. 2) Lane Kiffin is a moron and forgot to ask if they were going to get hit hard. Soooo 6/5 and pick'em?

Kiffin doesn't care about sanctions because his massive ego makes him think he can do anything. Kiffin's ego is so out of control that he sometimes appears to be making decisions with a gram of coke and a bottle of Jack inside of him. The problem with that kind of decision, though, is that you have to crash sometime. And when your wake up call finally comes, the hangover is living hell. Kiffin is in for a rude awakening.

My best decisions come when I have a gram of coke and a fifth of bourbon in me (more of a Beam man than Jack). I demand an apology once I get back from dry heaving and grinding my teeth for three days.

He now has more resources to do his dirty work. I don't think U$C cares about his shady background 'cause he fits their "system" and will continue Pete's work. They know the NCAA will do nothing so he is a perfect fit for them.
