Kicker question

Submitted by TampaJake on

I was the guy who tried to tip RR and the recuiting staff to Dan Grochowski, of Rivervirew, FL HS class of 2011.  I personally saw this kid kick FG's from 55+ in game and punt some 60+ in pre-game warmups.  He is big like 6' 2" or 6' 3" and well over 200, I would guess 225/235 range.  I called Michigan recruiting and filled them in.  I also chatted up his brother several times during the season.  I haven't seen anything more in  the local press on him.  Some links;

Apparently he has offers from the military academies...thats it.  He has a good ACT and his brother says he wouldn't mind kicking in the big house.

So, if somebody would call this kid we might have a kicker.  RR was talking to him before the OSU game.

I'm sure that a million mentally challenged would call in recruiting "leads" but is there a legit way to ID a potential recruit to the Staff without coming off like a tool or a crazed, uninformed fan?

I heard Brady Hoke has an open door policy.  Just sit down with him. I don't see how that can fail.

In all seriousness, if you find out, let us know.  I am nowhere near able to offer recruiting insight.  I just rely on a lot of you guys for info. It would be cool to hear how the recruiting channels work.

You should probably try to email Brian, and maybe he can guide you to the proper channels. I'm sure he is in touch with at least one former player, and I'd assume that former players have the best chance of getting in touch with the current staff.

I hope we see him either get an offer or a preferred walk on slot....Our special teams coaches can get out their "custom training tools" that have worked magic with Gibbons and Brockhuizen...

Yeah but can the kid kick when 113,000 people are yelling ahhhhhhhhhhhh and boom there goes the ball.  I still love that tradition for kickoffs.  One of my first memories in the big house as a 5 or 6 year old.

I hope someone on the staff chases this down.  I think it is great that you are offering to help.  You deserve thanks from all of us.  I wish there was more we all could do to help this team.  Good work comrad, maybe this kid someday wins a few games for us.

Btw, great pic.  Second best I have seen.
