Keys to Non-Rival Week Victory

Submitted by VicTorious1 on

Hello Michigan brethren and cistern.

Let’s again discuss the keys to winning Saturday.

MSU is an even more dangerous team than NU.  While MSU’s personnel are banged up, they have some solid talent, experienced leadership and thrive on playing as the underdog.  This MSU team is likely going to come into the big house with a boulder-sized chip on their shoulders and they will come out from the first whistle swinging.

Here are my keys to victory:

1.  Inches and Blood. It’s a game of inches and Michigan has to draw first blood.

2.  Offense and Defense. We don’t want an offensive shootout, but would prefer to be locked in a defensive battle.

3.  Momentum and Crowd. Michigan must control the momentum and keep the crowd in the game.

4.  Urgency and Effort.  Time is of the essence; Michigan must play with a sense of urgency and each player should give great individual effort.

5.  Chess Match.  It’s going to be a chess match. Harbaugh has to be better at Xs and Os than D’Antoni.

6.  Dominate the Score.  Michigan must score more points than MSU and hold MSU to fewer points than Michigan to win.

What are your keys to victory?

Go Blue. Beat STAEE.

Edit: Since last week's "Keys to Victory" did so well, I figured this could be a weekly thread...  ;-)

Seriously. MSU is going to play differently because they have some "bulletin board material" ? They're well coached, well prepared, and they hate us every day of the week. The "chip on the shoulder" is nothing but cow chips. They are a bitter rival and will play that way regardless of "disrespect" or whatever.

...find out how "key" they think it is for Michigan fans to be a little humble and thankful that the dog they have in this years fight isn't a poodle.

They might not quite be the ferocious weasel ready to take on foes twice their size yet but at least they won't Shitzu, if ya know what I mean.

Statiscal analysis has proven that teams who end up with more points at the end of the 4th quarter have a high percentage of winning the game.

Chess Match. It’s going to be a chess match. Harbaugh has to be better at Xs and Os than D’Antoni.

I don't know, man....D'Antoni wasn't really a set play, "sit down and think about it" sort of guy. His offense would just have that rook and bishop going for quick breaks and attempting to blaze right past Harbaugh's pieces for easy high-percentage scores, possibly an early checkmate.

Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure in any competitive sport where points are kept in an ascending order for two or more teams, usually the team who scores more of the said points is ultimately declared the winner. Maybe not golf though? What's croquet like for that matter? Is too many points/strokes a bad thing? I think so but I've never played competitively. Either way, I should go before I start to ramble...
