Kevin Grady 2nd dui

Submitted by Catahoulajak on

Just read on espn. However I'm not surehow to link to the page. It's locked or something. It says his bac was more than 3 times the legal limit and he will probably face some jail time.

Driving with a .24?  I got a PI once with a .256 (allegedly) and I was struggling to walk...as well as not knowing where I was at the time or where I was going.  Most likely he will take a plea deal/diversion agreement and won't serve any jail time, but hopefully he learns from this at least.

Unfortunately it is unlikely he will learn much from this incident, though you hope he would.  .256 is extremely high, and indicative of someone who routinely drinks alot.  To drive at all with that BAL you have to be a habitual drinker with a high tolerance.  I have lived with this situation and it will likely get worse before it gets better.  The hope you cling to is that they don't hurt themselves or, more importantly, kill ot hurt someone else.

.08 really is just a beer per hour! I got popped after trying to sleep off my buzz after being at a friends house at .18. From one drinker to who will listen, that isn't a lot of alcohol! I know many friends that drive home after three beers or so! I'm not saying it's right, but.....

Grady currently plays for the Indoor Football League's Chicago Slaughter.

The first time can happen to anyone and is a wake up call.  The second time indicates a problem.  If you can drive a car at .024, you have a major problem.  Staying conscious at .024 is a lot like football; you really have to practice a lot.  Either Grady is the most statiscially unlucky guy in the world, or he needs serious help.  I fear the latter.

Does anyone remember what his BAC was for his first dui? It was something ridiculously high like that too. The only reason I know that is that he became a bar for drunkeness for a while.

EDIT: Found it myself. .281

This is not a "new" DUI.  It happened back in November.

"The Grand Rapids Press reports that Grady's blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 at the time of his November arrest in nearby Grandville."

I remember reading about it then.

I hope Kevin gets some help.

Being a class of '05 grad from the west wide, this bums me out. I remember watching him in high school, and being so pumped when I found out he was going to Michigan at the same time I was. So much potential wasted.

the Denali?

I do have sympathy for him, since it's pretty clear he's got serious alcohol abuse issues.

However, it's worth noting that he was driving a pretty expensive car when he got pulled over the first time.  At that time, a 2007 Yukon Denali was blue booking at around $40-50K, plus he paid a $5,000 cash bond.  How many college students are driving around in $40,000 SUVs, or have $5,000 laying around?   Something to keep in mind when people are encouraging the NCAA to start investigating players' rides.
