This might have been a mutual parting of the ways. He was apparently on the final year of his contract, and I think it's possible that Brandon had no intention of bringing him back--regardless of whether the team made the tournament or not. Or maybe their negotiations on an extension hit a snag, and Borseth jumped at the Green Bay opening once it appeared.

they eeeeeked into the tournament in his final contract year but his results were mixed..They had some BIG wins against nationally ranked opponents but could never sustain it and had late season collapses almost every season. Im guessing it was mutual

Kind of a weird situation. How often does a coach leave for green pastures and then return again later? Especially after not being fired from said greener pastures

Borseth had gotten to know my aunt and uncle pretty well, and they had nothing but great things to say about the guy. Wish him luck in the future, he seemed to be on the right track at Michigan.

He seemed like a quality guy, was hyper-energetic, and had a good head for basketball.

The only knock might be an inability to land top recruits. This puzzles me in general with respect to B1G women's basketball. Why are there no  Big Ten schools among the top 25 recruiting classes? I would think that with the current strength of men's basketball within the conference, there would be a few prominent programs on the ladies' side.

This may set the program back quite a bit. Just finally got to the tournament after 11 years and now this shyster does this. Sad.

There is a great coach looking for a program. Former Duke coach, and recently former Texas coach Gail Goestencourt(spelling?). Could be a great get. Just didn't work out culturally in Texas, but she had a great track record at Duke.

But Borseth is a bit of a loose cannon. Thought he was going to get fired over a big meltdown some time ago(before Brandon?). Hope it is a national search and we get a coach from a major program with a track record. We now have top facilities, not there when Borseth was hired.

Seriously, the Player Development Center was supposed to make more people want to be here, but since it finished and the work on Crisler began, people jut keep leaving.  Did they dig up some chemical that is chasing people off?  wtf?

Seems like both of our basketball programs are going back to square one in their own ways. Tough times for UofM basketball. But the future is stil bright.

Brandon has always targeted coaches with HC experience so I expect him to go a similar route. Although maybe we should go after an assistant from a top program looking to carve their own niche. Should be a decently attractive job with the new facilities.

EPIC press conf entrance. Hope the WBB recruiting class sticks together. I really hope MSU WBB Doesn't decide to steal our recruits. Hope DB can get a top flight coach in here fast. This is a very attractive job - new facilities, upward swinging.

This isn't the end of the world for Michigan Basketball. A point guard from Michigan is having a chance to go to the NBA after a Big Ten Title winning freshman season. It sucks if he leaves but says a ton about our program. Who is to say another player can't come in and have the same success he had? With Borseth leaving, who knows? It's Women's Basketball...who cares..LOL...seriously maybe he was homesick, thought he reached his ceiling wanted more money and wasn't getting it or just flat out wasn't offered an extension. Once again, who cares.

National Coaching Search

"The plane that may or may not have David Brandon and the crabby ghost of Don Canham aboard has returned to Baton Rouge, landing about fifteen minutes ago.

…but they apparently didn't make it. Meanwhile, the other plane that may or may not have Dave Brandon aboard is in Dallas, where a coaching convention is going on. "

At least it worked out in the end.
