Kentucky or Louisville?

Submitted by SamirCM on

Simple question though likely a complex answer, who do you prefer we play on Sunday? This isn't over who is likely to win today, but more who do we match up better against?

EDIT: My thought is that I would rather Michigan play Kentucky, the reasoning being that a barrage of 3's and a strong first half attack might rattle a young Kentucky team, whereas a great coach like Pitino will have better prepared his team to rally. That said Kentucky's talent is scary and it appears they are playing to form.

Pressure is a problem.  They know us from last year, so prep is easier for them.  They have been there and won it, so no pressure for them.

I don't think it is going to matter what we want, because I think UL beats UK by double digits tonight.

The announcers for the MSU game just said Izzo is one of their favorite people in the whole world. Nice objectivity. Not saying a word about Virginia.

Louisville. Any time Calipari gets his greasy ass beat is a good time.

And yes, I know Pitino isn't exactly Mr. Clean, but he's my favorite crooked coach in the NCAA.

Call me crazy, but I still don't think either are that good. I have watched a lot of basketball the last couple weeks; the teams that scare me most r sparty and wiscy.

uk - uk/lou is as big as it gets for them. you hope whoever wins it has a big let down sunday. likelier to happen on a team full of freshman.

Tennessee game turned out to be a perfect prep for Louisville. The sloppiness against pressure D provides JB plenty of teaching points to prepare for Louisville's pressure.

I want Kentucky. Don't think they're disciplined defensively enough to hang with us. That said, if we do get Kentucky, it'd be awesome if Julius Randle goes pro right before the game. That kid is a monster.

Nah.  As Beilein pointed out in the presser, having to inbound from a dead spot 4-5 straight times is difficult on lots of teams.  You only have so many plays, and unless you totally shift how you handle those situations in the tourney, you need to go with your playbook and just try to execute.  It was a bad series to end the game, but Louisville couldn't really hurt UM that much last year, and over the whole game a team like UM will adjust.

once we won I was torn. Louisville is Louisville and we haven't handled a great press team with consistency this year. Plus they are an "old school" great CBB team in that they have older guys but can pull young All-American level guys off the bench. Then again, Kentucky is a hired gun 1 & done team. Essentially a starting 5 of NBA players with 2 being sure fire lottery guys. Nobody is mentioning Smith and I'm watching this dude (not effecting my indecision) not only carve up Kentucky but get his little ass in the pile to pull down rebounds, ha. Don't forget how quick/smart he is. I just think it's going to be tough either way. In all honesty, in the brackets I didn't pick Michigan winning it I had us losing today, 2 vs duke & one vs Tenn. To end, watching this game I can only hope the winner is worn out physically and emotionally as, call me what you will, I think our only chance at a win would be UK playing terribly as we rained 3s all night. Seed aside, another win next week is truly an upset by us as opposed to the media sparked non upset win today.

Either. I think Louisville showed their zone opens deep shots. Kentucky looks very undisciplined and potentially prone to fouling. However, KY looks physical and big. And Louisville looks big, fast and scrappy. Coach will find a matchup nightmare with either team. I like our chances. We've beat the best in the best conference.

Louisville is a three-man team:  Smith, Harell, and Hancock.  If you get anyone of those guys in foul trouble, you're going to beat Louisville.
