Kentucky or Louisville?

Submitted by SamirCM on

Simple question though likely a complex answer, who do you prefer we play on Sunday? This isn't over who is likely to win today, but more who do we match up better against?

EDIT: My thought is that I would rather Michigan play Kentucky, the reasoning being that a barrage of 3's and a strong first half attack might rattle a young Kentucky team, whereas a great coach like Pitino will have better prepared his team to rally. That said Kentucky's talent is scary and it appears they are playing to form.

They had to get their drink on and since they forked over so much green already they wanted to reduce expenses through tailgating rather than overpriced Bud. Never let it said that those from the Bluegrass are dumb, least not when it comes to drinking money.

Louisville.

  • Kentucky reminds me of Fab 5 - lollygagging through regular season, make dumb errors, but get better in tourney, with raw athleticism and skill, too young to know about pressure and is very long at the guards and wings which hurts us.
  • Willy Cauley-Stein is not a Tenn or Tex big.  Either is Julius Randle.  Those are 2 lottery pick bigs.
  • Fuck Luke Hancock. I want to see him cry. Due to us.

But this feels like a moment for one.

Watch our next opponent, switching between that and getting the pleasure of either seeing MSU lose, or 3 of the elite 8 from the big ten.

Having watched 0 games before the tourney of either team, I don't know who I'd prefer to play. Brian prefered UK right?

Kentucky winning will get the media talking about we can't handle their size again, so J-Mo will be good for another 15 and 8, while shutting down Kentucky's best player  Plus Calipari vs. Beilein is worth a few points.  Less of a coaching mismatch if it's Pitino.  And considering our inbounding struggles, if Louisville presses us that might go a little badly.

I would be split on this issue, in all honesty. On one hand, there is a part of me that would love to avenge last year and take on Louisville, but the other part of me likes to dabble in the numbers and if you go there, it seems lik Kentucky is the better matchup for us on paper. Of course, I said this about Tennessee and that turned out to be closer than I thought, but I have a feeling that a game against Kentucky might be a smoother one for us.

Pitino is a better game coach than Calipari. Beilein would own Calipari with a turnaround of less than 48 hours. Hence, I'd prefer to play Kentucky.

Both can present a damn tough match-up.  I honestly don't know who I prefer, as we can beat both teams but when both teams are on, which Louisville is more consistant at, they can present a tough beat for us.  My bracket says Louisville (srsly, I'm still using that excuse?)

Idk if we're gonna be able to inbound the ball at all against Louisville with that 24/7 press they run...
