Keep the white pants for road games or nah?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

I say yes. I've gotten so used to them that it actually looked weird to me for a moment seeing the Citrus Bowl practice photos with the white jerseys and Maize pants.

Here's a mock up by a message board poster from SportsLogo.net of what it would look like next year with Maize pants.

I liked them but do hope they return to maize pants for 2016. I don't consider myself to be any sort of arbiter on who gets the #1, but I couldn't be upset if Jehu wore it come September. However, I don't like the number changes as a general rule. Historically I could always associate a given number with a given player (or players), and it stuck in my mind for years and years. The past few years has made that more difficult.

and didn't like them any better forty years later.

However, they're not remotely in the same universe of sartorial suck as the clowniforms we wore during the previous AD/coaching regime, so if white pants are the worst it'll get under Harbaugh, I've got no complaints.

I think the white jersey and pants needs to be cleaned up. I think the stripes have to go. I would like to see the white, navy, and maize paints used interchangeably. The key is to keep things simple, let the helmets carry the uniform.

I was skeptical of the white pants when they were announced, but I will admit that I didn't mind the look at all really once I saw it in an actual game. Although I would slightly prefer a switch back to maize as per the Jumpman preliminaries above, I wouldn't be terribly upset if the white pants hung around. No real strong feelings either way, just a slight aesthetic preference.

This would be hilarious if it were just some Photoshop joke.  Sorry for the trip down memory lane, but wanted to show the block M white pants, which I think would be way better than the striped whites.

Whoever designed and/or approved these really should be shot.

I absolutely loved the clean, crisp look of the white jerseys, especially the minimalist stripes on the sleeves. I'm indifferent to the pants as long as the jerseys remain the same.

Maize pants.  And fix the sleeve stripes to be the 1980s style.  But this is a minor quibble.  I have faith that Nike understands that the Michigan brand is not one that needs to be tinkered with extensively.

Hey, whatever the fans want.  I say we march an elected leader into Harbaugh's office to tell him exactly why the pants need to me maize.  And maybe some extra piping.  Maybe a chrome lightning bolt & numbers that are in a flame font.  Nike, yo!

It's an iconic photo, and I have no reason to doubt those who say they've heard that the move to Nike and the Jumpman logo will help with recruits.

But I don't like it on a football uniform.

WD, (or anyone else but I figure he will know for sure) When does the adidas contract expire and when can Nike sell Michigan gear? I haven't bought a thing since Nike won the contract and I'm jonesing for new stuff.

Hated them at first (especially seeing the game in person). But have to say I agree with OP 100% about seeing the traditional maize pants in practice and then seeing strange.
