Keenan to TX Tech
It's weird how this would be good news rather than bad news given the circumstances .... I'd still take Bars though...
Edit: wish him well

Well that came out of left field.
"The unexamined life is not worth living." Socrates.
Not really. He's been high on Texas Tech for a long time.
Didn't know that. He seemed pretty high on UofM. If we get Diamond it won't be a huge loss, since there is a decent chance we snag one of our other targets (most likely Olson but wouldn't completely rule out Kalis, Garnett, or Banner).

Does anyone think the staff called him up after they heard from Kalis and told him that they didn't have room? The timing seems really weird to me.
"They will meet a dastardly fate here for that! There isn't a Michigan Man who wouldn't like go out and scalp those Buckeyes right now."
I think the staff is not going by the first come first serve philosophy now. The staff will know more than what we know and that has to show that we have a great shot with the guys that are higher on their board.

much at camp the last couple days, so not at all surprised if the staff let him know he wasn't very high on their list.
Henry Swanson's my name, and excitement's my game.
I can't say what the coaches might have said to him at camp, but his body language wasn't what I expected from someone who was supposedly 'high' on Michigan.
With that being said, it shouldn't necessarily shock anyone because oftentimes Texas kids don't want to leave the state.
Also, I think he's a great fit for Tech. He's definitely smaller than the other Michigan prospects that were there, like Ben Braden or Steven Elmer. He was quickly and built more like the quicker, mobile linemen RR liked to recruit. Good pickup for TTU.

This is ideal for me, as both a Michigan and TTU fan. Tech gets a great player, and Michigan is still in on some really highly rated guys.
After watching the classes Tuberville has been pulling in down here, I am convinced that Tuberville is one of the best recruiters in the country. I know Hoke has been reeling in some guys, but Ann Arbor is an easy sell. Lubbock is not, by any means. Leach, with the unique identity he created, couldn't pull in the classes Tuberville is reeling in right now after a mediocre season. It's almost a little bit fishy that all these guys want to pull the trigger so early and come to Lubbock.
Eh, TX is stocked with talent, so it's not that surprising.
But not much of that talent is located in the West side of the state, with the exception of a few hotspots here and there. Tech has always historically picked at the scraps of UT, A&M, and even other out of state Big 12 schools with the occasional steal. UT is still kicking their skulls in, but they're going head to head with A&M and winning battles right now.
All 16 of Tech's commits are from Texas. I'm willing to say that Tubberville is a good recruiter, but it seems like he never has to leave the state just to get a decent class. From the looks of it, it seems like A&M is actually winning the battle for the higher rated guys.

Texas is so big, it's just like a few states. It has more people than Ohio and Michigan combined. We'd have to throw in Indiana as well, just to make it a fair fight.
Texas, It's Like a Whole Other Country.
We ARE Michigan....COME GET SOME!!!
But, last year they also pulled in a couple really highly rated out of state guys... including a 5 star DT from PA... en route to a top 15 class. Texas has always been stocked with talent, and despite that 2011 is the highest ranked TTU class ever, not to mention crushing A&M in the process. I'll give you that A&M is landing some top guys so far this year, but Tech is still out-doing its historical norms by a significant margin.
They did get their first ever Rival top 100 player last year (TE, Jace Amaro) and added the 4 star Delvon Simmons that yoy mentioned. One of the strangest recruitment I have seen. He committed to UNC out of the blue without taking an official visit and then asked to be released from his letter of intent.
I have to admit TT is doing very well for himself at TT with the resources that he has available.

TTU is known for their bruising NFL linemen. I'm kidding -- good luck to Keenan. That was a big shock.
Not really . . . but they are known for their beefy, super strong offensive linemen who can't move very well.
Not a knock on the kid. Sure he's a great tackle. There's just some other tackles in this class we're in great position with that I'd rather have at Michigan.
More often then not the deciding factor for recruits is distance.
Wish him the best of luck, I've always enjoyed watching Texas Tech games, they are always fun to watch with their potent offense. Still remember watching that Texas Tech-Texas #1 vs #2 night game, that was amazing. But anyways, good luck and hopefully we can find some other OL recruits to fill our class (looks towards the state of washington...)

sort of, kind of, relieved. I wish Keenan the best at TX tech and still hoping we can reel in the big boys!
Coach Hoke is no joke..
Here is my opinion (projected) offensive line class. They currently have 3 offensive line players. From what I have been readin on here, Diamond will be another which would make it 4 total. The rest that are considering Michigan are Kalis, Peat, Bars, Olson, Garnett and Banner. Am I missing someone? Even though Michigan gained some ground with Peat, I believe it is a longer shot to get him then some schools have with him, so I wouldn't count on Peat. If one of the other guys besides Garnett and Banner commit that would put the position class at 5 and Hoke is taking 6, then you can count out Banner and Garnett because they have recently said they would like to play together (unless they both commit around the same time period befor any of the others commit). Now, they have one more offensive lineman to take, and I believe it would be between Bars and Kalis. I don't think Olson would turn down a local school with high remarks in academics like BC.
I have a question regarding the Morgan situation. If Hoke decreased his interest in Morgan because he got Standifer and was only taking 2 CB's, then how could he have taken Standifer if Morgan committed (silent) before Standifer did?
Whoops! My math was off in my last message. I guess mathematically they could take both Kalis and Bars if both wanted to commit.
as a kid telling them he's going to be publicly announcing his commitment in the near future. If a kid isn't ready to do that (Morgan's case) then their commitment can't be very strong and the staff is willing to move on.

where did I make it sound like that wasn't entirely just an opinion? I've heard talk alluding to what I said and I choose to believe it. Feel free to believe whatever you want. If speculation wasn't allowed, this board would be mostly empty.

I believe beavis was referring to me. Nonetheless, he was posting some premises trying to make his conclusion sound, but all his premises were invalid, therefore his conclusion was not sound. Attacking others by saying they don't know the entire situation, but posting his own view believing he knows all is kind of hypocritical. Didn't mean to get all round up, but people are allowed to voice out their views, questions, remarks, etc, right? I didn't know I snapped my fingers and lived in Russia?
Beavis: Your intelligence sounds as high as Beavis' on the cartoon show. I did NOT speculate ANYTHING. I posted from what others posted on here and went through what others said. Actually, you speculated views of myself which makes your pointless comment non-credible. Take your mind out of your ass and look at reality. It is Michigan fans like you that give off the negative perception of the overall Michigan fan base.
such as cases where a kid might make his intentions fully known to the coaches but keep it private so that their teammates and program continue to get attention during the recruiting process. I could maybe see this kind of situation with a guy like Jordan Diamond... I was thinking I remembered some talk that this was why Chris Bryant didn't commit earlier.

Missed Muller and Thurnston, but Muller is a rumored Penn State lean and Tom said in his interview with PSU blog he doesn't think Muller's interest in UofM is that serious yet. Thurnston also has been tied to Nebraska a lot and apparently he made another visit there this weekend according to their Rivals site and is preparing for an announcement so...

It certainly makes sense that a projecting the future of an O-lineman is closer to voodoo than science (I think both are pretty cool), so I figured Keenan would have been a great get since the staff believed him worthy of a slot. I'm sorry to lose Trey because I'd like to see Texas represented in the class. Clearly getting Mich and Ohio secured again has been a (fullfilled) priority, but there is so much talent in fla, tx, and cali, that we can't afford not to stay visible to the occassional kid who likes the helmets, or C. Woodson, or the stadium. Go Blue.
We're gonna play with toughness, we're gonna be responsible and we're gonna play with toughness. This is Michigan.
Wish best of luck. Go punish Mack Brown and Texas Trey!
"A Michigan Man will coach a Michigan Team"
I am hoping we land 1 of those 2 ... Both would be even better
Lubbock is a nice town in the middle of nowhere and I hope he has a great time there. Best of Luck to him.
Chaos is found in greatest abundance wherever order is being sought. It always defeats order because it is better organized.
I believe that Bisnowaty is still a possibility.
In a recent update, TomVH stated that in addition to Braden, Stacey and Magnuson, the likely OL commits would come from a group of Olson, Bisnowaty, Thurston, Kalis and Bars. I assume that group is now expanded to include Peat, and potentally could include Seumalo if the coaches decide to pursue him.
Hope he does well at TTU, should i feel bad that i was actually happy when i saw this.
I am hoping we can land Bars and Kalis. I was watching the camp video of Diamond earlier, and it appears that he is injured. He kept clutching his back.
I feel like as a fanbase, we have made Diamond out to be a better player than he really is...Just my opinion, but because he had such a strong interest in us, we were infatuated with him.... I think based on their film on Rivals, I'd rather have Bars....Who knows...

Wish him the best in Lubbock (I think that's where Tech is..)
We can focus on those huge recruits who have been in AA recently or are there currently..
ITS GREAT TO BE A MICHIGAN WOLVERINE
