Kansas or UNC

Submitted by kirtip on

Michigan will face the winner of Kansas/UNC this afternoon, as we all know. In March, its not all about the better seed being a harder game, its about the matchups. We all saw that against VCU, a matchup that weighed in our favor.

So who do we want to face: Kansas or UNC?

our game will be the earlier game cause they give the proposed early game to the # 1 seed as an advantage of having a little more rest time. That's why I think MSU v Duke Will be the later 2/3 seeded game in that region.

As far as who I'd rather play....Kansas' supposed height advantage ends with Withey, he's their only really big guy. With the way Mitch is playing, I like that match-up. THJ is a veteran and I like him to check McClemore, I like Trey to dominate their PG.

I think we would beat UNC as well, but I think Kansas is really over-rated

UNC is really bad, and Kansas is quite overrated. We will beat either of these teams by 8-10 points.

I know it's early, but based on what I see from these teams right now I don't think either would give us much trouble. UNC's offensive rebounding worries me a bit, but neither team appears to have anyone that can score as easily as Burke and THJ (or GRIII, if he plays like he has this postseason)

Kansas has no offense lol...and they can't shoot threes.

It's a tough one...but I would take UNC because of weaker D and the fact they don't have a giant

One thing that I haven't seen talked about yet (sorry if missed), is point guard play. I think Burke vs. Paige gives us a much better matchup than Burke vs. Johnson. Paige may be the better player but he is also a freshman while Johnson is a senior. Experience is definitely a key factor at this time of the year.

I don't believe this has been mentioned yet, but when we won the national championship in 1989, we defeated North Carolina in the Sweet 16. I certainly wouldn't mind history repeating itself.

Well my satellite just went out here in Bloomington. Hoping it comes back on soon in this blizzard so I can finish watching this game.

They have outscored UNC 45-12 in the second half so far.

The pessimist in me fears that THIS is the Kansas team we'll be playing.  The second half team that's shooting over 80%.  Not the first half team that couldn't score and turned the ball over 20 times.
